Photoshop :: Equation On A Wave With CS6
Aug 13, 2013
I created a text which follow a wave (a sinusoïd) in an image. I would like to do the same with an equation.
I tried it the following way:
I edit my equation with latex and make a pdf.
I import my pdf in cs6.
I make a deformation of my pdf to follow the wave.
The problem with this methods is all the char are deformed and the equation is no more readable.

Making a circular wave on a water texture is just by applying a zigzag/twirl/radial blur filter. How do I make a square wave then? Like dropping a plank of wood or something rectangle on to a pond.

two things:
I'm using CS3 on a PC. I'm using the wave filter to distort an image. writing down all the characteristics ie, # of generators, wavelength, amplitude, scale ect. Is there anyway to recreate that EXACT wave pattern on a particular image once I've left the program? It seems to generate another algorithm even if I input the same numbers.
Also, I'm distorting an image at 72dpi as a test. When I replace the image with an exact replica at 300dpi and apply the wave distortion, I'm unable to get even remotely the same results. the wave patterns are much tighter. I've moved around all the characteristics with no result.

I created the following design ( the first image ) but I messed with the "wave" filter settings and got this nasty burst effect on the outer edge of the "wax seal". No matter what I seem to try with the wave settings, I can't get back to the smooth "blob" shape that you see in the black and white outline below. I've tried all the combinations of generators, wavelength min / max and amplitude min/max. from the attached image .

I am using CS6 Extended and am taking a class on photoshop.
I am trying to apply the wave filter to some type, but not sure what all the options in the dialog box are for. I do see that there is something changing in the preview box, but the image is so incredibly tiny I can't really tell what is happening. I don't see any way to increase the size of the preview box.

I've been working on a new website and came up with something pretty clean/simple which I really like (so far anyways). I was just getting it ready to show to the client, and I ran into some trouble. Every time I go to export it (I've tried restarting it a few times to see if it helped, didn't...this is save for web btw) I get these waves of color where there shouldn't be any. Check out this link to see what i mean. I'm curious if anybody knows why this is happening, because I've tried playing with all my export settings and I haven't gotten very far. I've tried flattening all my background layers which are involved with the color, still nothing.

I want to add progressive blur to a pic from left to right, I can do so on several layers with masks, and add more and more blur on each one.
I would like a similar effect, but with the wave filter.
For example, a straight horizontal line at the left that slowly starts waving in larger and larger amplitudes.
(the final idea is a bit more complicated, but I only want to get some initial help so that I can figure out the rest myself).
In fact: several other filters from the distort group behave the same way: apply more intense filtering to a next layer, and the beginning/end and curve doesn't fit anymore.

how math works for scale factoring to specfiy a smaller or larger inserted object. Working with a door. I want to set the door at 3'. To do so I need an X scale factor for 12.
The factors for factional inch scale is derived by multpying the denominator of the scale by 12. Then dividing by the numerator.
Example. If the scale for 1/4" = 1',0" is ( 4x 12) / 1 or 48/1.
Not sure if these figures below have anything to do with the scale Factoring problem at hand. But.
For 3/16" = 1'-0" scale the operation is (16 x 12) / =3, or 64.
For whole foot scales like 1" = 10', mutlpe the feet side of th equation by 12.

I have a small problem trying a wave to deform my objects properly. I have to make a "repulsion objects" project, i use several duplicate cubes and i apply to them a wave deformer. But i would like that the deformer could move just the entire objects or polygons , not the points because i want the upper face plane and the wave deform the points like i was making a jitter.
I have tested also the displacement direction of the wave with no results. Is there an easy way to make it?

I have painted a banner and now I will create an animated gif, so the banner should be waving (like in reality). I have tried it with Effects -> distort -> twist but I couldn't realize it that it looks real.

I started a thread earlier this evening but I think that I accidentally flagged it as "solved" or something like that (I'm new to this forum). So I'm trying this again. I want to know if there's a way of creating a sine wave in illustrator. I've managed to create a cosine wave by using the zig zag effect on a line and choosing "smooth". But I can't seem to find a good way to make a sine wave.

I need to make a model of saddle surface. The surface is given by equation z = y^2 - x^2, and I must have some thickness - It will be printed on 3D printer.
I have Inventor 2014 and I dont see possibility of making the surface directly in Inventor. Is there any trick for that?
I'm afraid I cannot use solution as stated here Equation-driven surface , because saddle surface looks like this hyperbolic paraboloid .
I tried this solution: I made 3D surface in Matlab, exported it in .stl and opened in Inventor - but this only makes the surface with no thickness. Functions extrude, loft require 2D sketch.

Can an equation be used to calculate equal distances when using the rectangular pattern.Regarding the attached .ipt file i would like to place 25 holes in the X direction with equal gap size between each hole. Also how to calculate the number of holes in the Y direction again with equal distance between each hole.I have not done this before with equations but was thinking that i would need to use the Length x Width in the equation.Do i need to add figures into the Parameters box also?
The attached file with the Hole feature the sketch is not constrained for the purpose of using an equation so i know how far from the start of the part to get equal distances between each hole to the end of the part .

I need to put the following into equation form to plug into a User Parameter:
if d91 falls in the range of 4" to 11"
then d92 = d91 + 2"
else d92 = 7.5"
Windows 7 Pro, SP1
Inventor 2012 SP1
Due to the nature of our business, I am not permitted to attach any files showing models or .idw environments of any actual work-related components.

I have a station equation in my alignment that happens to fall in a vertical curve in my profile. I'm using the PVC and PVT station and elevations from the plans and the K value to draw a Fixed Vertical Curve. It doesn't seem to be taking into consideration the station equation. It is calculating the wrong PVI station and elevation.

We have some equations in our templates which i have modified with iLogic. Once the rule is run it only shows the value and not the equation. ie i want it to show Thickness*2 instead of just '12'. The ilogic will say something like InnerRad = Thickness * 2 Is there a way to make it show the equation rather than the value? While i know whats going and can see the driven link in the parameters the planned change to 2012 could take some getting used to for users.

I'm trying to figure out the best way to split an alignment so that I do not disturb the stationing of the alignment beyond a station equation. I have a very long alignment with a finaized design. I have a design change to make, which means I need to move a section of the alignment, and I want to do it without changing the stationing past a defined point so that it does not affect the design (corridor) past that point.

What i need is the equation of the spline.
Is there anyway of calculating the equation that represents the spline?

I was trying to use ipart to create some parts and place the relevant dimensions in the table format in the idw file. However, the equation for the dimensions appeared and I like to have it as numeric. Also, the feature present or absent is preferred to be called "Yes" and "No" instead of "Computed" and "Suppress" respectively.

I just purchased a portable audio recorder, a Zoom H1, to replace the built-in microphones on my JVC video camera. I did this to be able to improve the audio component of my finished videos. I planned on using the audio wave form display that shows up when you activate the Sound Mixer component of VideoStudio. I am recording in .wav file format, as I read previously on this board that VideoStudio works better with wave files than with MP3's. When I put the wave files onto the timeline, and activate the Sound Mixer, It says it is loading the sound data, but does not display the complete wave form info. I have tried recordings made at different qualities, with varying results, as follows:
44 Khz 16 bit - does not display any wave form data
44 Khz 24 bit - displays wave form for part of the file, but not all
48 Khz 16 bit - does not display any wave form data
48 Khz 24 bit - displays wave form for part of the file, but not all
Just for grins, I tried the same audio files in VS X4, same thing. Maybe I'll play with MP3 format files, just to see what happens.
As I mentioned above, I tried recording a file on the Zoom H1 in .mp3 format. The audio properties, as repported by VideoStudio were 44 Khz, 16 bit, 192 Kbps. This file was accepted by VideoStudio with no problems displaying the complete wave form for the complete file. Which it did not do for the .wav files created by the same recorder. I will do a complete test on Sunday, when I will try recording our church service as an .mp3 and videoing the service and see how it works with syncing the two files.
