so im painting cars for nr2003 and i got a base scheme with layer sets that i cant open. i can simplify it, but it only flattens the contained layers. im pretty sure it has multiple layers in it. i will leave when i get an answer on how to open them in photoshop elements 2.0.

View 6 Replies View RelatedOk, I need to make a main layer set and another layer set within that main set so its a kind of sub set. But for some reason photoshop simply refuses to do it, I can make two layer sets fine but it wont let me drag one of the sets inside the other set, it will only drag to above the set or below it, not inside it.
Looking at the picture, if I try to drag set two into set one so its inside set one it will not do it. You cant see it on the screenshot but the cursor turns into a grey circle with a cross through the middle.
Is there supposed to be some kind of setting to allow me to do this or is my photoshop completely screwed up? I am using PS7
I am trying to copy layer sets from one document to another in Photoshop CS. It will not do it by dragging and dropping (like you can with layers). How do I do it in CS? I CAN do it in CS2 by dragging and dropping, but then the artwork on the layers still goes out of position. I need to "merge" two or more documents for a web site design. for doing it in CS, or how to have the layers come into CS2 in the right place?

I thought I would be able to use them to paint my layer masks, but I cant figure out a way of using the selection to limit where I am painting inside the mask. I thought convert to a freeze but it seems paint layers ignore frozen areas. Is it possible, or is it a case of saving selections for sculpt and not for paitning?

However, I have quite a few edited raw files that I had saved in the version set with the original raw file using the old catalog. In the new catalog, the edited jpgs are not in with the original raw version. Is there something I could do to fix this? Also, I have not deleted the original catalog that I used.

View 4 Replies View RelatedOne thing I don't like when you do a search and some results are included in stacks of version sets, it that you are shown the best matches with the non matches indicated by a special icon. Then you can't have the option to 'select only best matches'.
An example : Suppose you usually shoot raw and keep only the best edited jpeg in a version set together with the original raw. You want to delete the original raws when there is an edited jpeg in the version set. You can perfectly use the search by details for files in a version set and filename with the raw suffix.
How can you select only the 'best matches' in the result of the search ? Unless there is a way to do that easily, I would like to introduce a feature request to add 'show only best matches in stacks/version sets' in the option menu of the result of the search.
You could :
- select all the results and expand all stacks and version sets
- assign a temporary keyword like 'IsInVersionSet' to all
- do a new search by detail for 'IsInVersionSet' and filename ends with raw suffix
- Select all and delete
- remove the temporary keyword.
That would work for version sets with only one original and one edited jpeg, not for multiple files in a stack or version sets, the info about stacks or sets would be lost.The only method I have found to do the selection and deletion with keeping stacks and version sets is:
- create a catalog copy (copy of the whole catalog folder)
- in the new catalog, use the above procedure to delete the raws
- in the old catalog, find missing files and delete them from catalog.
I found that all of the Version Sets in my Catalog of 50,000 photos became expanded when I restored my Catalog onto a new computer (with an empty catalog). Is there a global command in the PSE9 system to collapse all of the Version Sets throughout the Catalog, not just a particular set of selected photos?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI work with virtual shoe samples made in Photoshop. I draw shoes in PS and make thousands of combinations of materials in colors, which mean thousands of layers as well.
I have then various sets of layers, each one a different combination, and many times I want to go back to a combination I used before; that is, make every layer of it visible again, something that takes lots of time when you have thousands of layers.
Every file is 300 MB, so I have no chance to save it again with that combination I need.
Basically, I need to find a way to save which layers are visible and invisible!
We've started using State Sets to manage the output of render elements from our scenes and all was looking great UNTIL we noticed a rather nasty bug.
I hope I can describe this clearly. Here goes:
I have created 3 State Sets as follows:
Beauty
Outputting/saving a bitmap to ".eautyFrame_Beauty_.jpg" from the Render Output 'Save File' section.
No Render Elements enabled.
Reflection
No Ouput/file saved from the Render Output 'Save File' section.
Reflection Render Element enabled and outputting a bitmap to ".RefFrame_Ref_.jpg"
AO
Outputting/saving a bitmap to ".AOFrame_AO_.jpg"
AO material in Material Override section enabled.
Exposure Control deactivated.
Now when I switch between these state sets by clicking on the green arrows in the State Sets dialogue the 'output path' from the Beauty or AO state set gets transposed onto the output path in the Reflection Render Element in the Reflection state set.
It seems that Max 'recreates' the Render element each time the green arrow for that state set is clicked and any active Render Element inherits the output path from the previously active state set.
This effectively renders them unworkable for managing Render Elements.

I can select the .dst file, but when it "opens" I onlly have the icon in the seet set manager and nothing else, it is entirely blank.
I made a new sheet set, but now older versions of AutoCAD cannot read that one.
What are the rules for how elements (specifically, collections and other collection sets) are ordered within a collection set?
I was trying to get a collection to appear at the top of the list of items in a collection set, but it seems to get stuffed below all the other collection sets regardless of the name given to the collection.
I have a drawing where I need to open the layer manager to turn on a layer in a view port but cannot get to that particular column. As you look across the top of the layer manager I can see all the headings of each column beginning with "Name", "Status", "On" and so forth. The last column heading I see is "Description" but I need to go even further to the right to get to the column I need to be at but can't get there. There is no scroll button on the bottom of the layer manager which would allow me to do that.

I can load them both as layers and make the older map transparent so that I can see through to newer map, but older map is larger than the newer map (in the background). I can move the transparent map but I cannot make just the transparent map smaller to fit over the other map. I will also need to rotate the map slightly. When I try to resize it changes both maps. I have tried the transform and the move tool. So how can I make one layer smaller and rotate it it leaving the other layer intact?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have been trying to copy a mask from one layer to a new layer in Elements 11. I can do this in CS3 by using alt and dragging to the new layer. It doesn't work in Elements 11. Is this feature unavailable in elements 11 or is there a different command? there doesn't seem to be much point in spending all that time making a complex layer amsk and then being unable to use it on another layer.
I have to give a tutorial on layer masks using both CS3 and elements at the Camera Club!

View 1 Replies View RelatedIs there any way to have more than one text placement inside of a single layer, but be able to maintain and move each of those separately from the others? From what I have seen, each new Text item gets its own new layer. If I want to document an image with seven points of reference, it's absolutely crazy that I have to maintain seven layers, each with an integer 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, or 7. What would be much more maintainable is to create ONE layer and name it "MAP-NUMBERS" and then have seven integers placed into that one layer. I would then want to be able to move - say - "2" around separately from "4". Then making all of the numbers appear or disappear becomes as easy as hiding or showing one layer.
Is there a way to do this with any version of Photoshop?
