Photoshop :: A Way To Save "layer Sets"?

I work with virtual shoe samples made in Photoshop. I draw shoes in PS and make thousands of combinations of materials in colors, which mean thousands of layers as well.
I have then various sets of layers, each one a different combination, and many times I want to go back to a combination I used before; that is, make every layer of it visible again, something that takes lots of time when you have thousands of layers.
Every file is 300 MB, so I have no chance to save it again with that combination I need.
Basically, I need to find a way to save which layers are visible and invisible!

have they removed the layer set feature? No where do see any option for a new layer set. You could create one from linked layers before and I don't see it.

Ok, I need to make a main layer set and another layer set within that main set so its a kind of sub set. But for some reason photoshop simply refuses to do it, I can make two layer sets fine but it wont let me drag one of the sets inside the other set, it will only drag to above the set or below it, not inside it.
Looking at the picture, if I try to drag set two into set one so its inside set one it will not do it. You cant see it on the screenshot but the cursor turns into a grey circle with a cross through the middle.
Is there supposed to be some kind of setting to allow me to do this or is my photoshop completely screwed up? I am using PS7

I am trying to copy layer sets from one document to another in Photoshop CS. It will not do it by dragging and dropping (like you can with layers). How do I do it in CS? I CAN do it in CS2 by dragging and dropping, but then the artwork on the layers still goes out of position. I need to "merge" two or more documents for a web site design. for doing it in CS, or how to have the layers come into CS2 in the right place?

so im painting cars for nr2003 and i got a base scheme with layer sets that i cant open. i can simplify it, but it only flattens the contained layers. im pretty sure it has multiple layers in it. i will leave when i get an answer on how to open them in photoshop elements 2.0.

I have never figured out a way to save my customized Modifier Sets. Whenever I have to reinstall Max or we get a new release I lose a lot of customization. I'd like to be able to save every singe interface tweak to make to carry forward to new releases.

Is there any way to save like sets of text(drawing) color & font(family, size, weight)?
In some projects I frequently have to switch from red-arial-30-b to black-lucida-22-i etc. and it's really pissing me off.
So my question is: Are there any built-in tools (haven't found any yet) or plugins that provide the features described above?

I use adobe photoshop quite often and one thing that has always been a valuable tool is the ability to create a group or a layer set. Is this possible in GIMP or would I have to obtain a plugin to do this.

I set up some selection sets thinking they would come in handy later on when I am painting. I thought I would be able to use them to paint my layer masks, but I cant figure out a way of using the selection to limit where I am painting inside the mask. I thought convert to a freeze but it seems paint layers ignore frozen areas. Is it possible, or is it a case of saving selections for sculpt and not for paitning?

What are the rules for how elements (specifically, collections and other collection sets) are ordered within a collection set?
I was trying to get a collection to appear at the top of the list of items in a collection set, but it seems to get stuffed below all the other collection sets regardless of the name given to the collection.

i open up a file which contains more than 100 layers, some of them are hidden and the other are not, bascially i want to check out some of the hidden layers and i did on one, as we all know, by alt click the eye icon, we can go backwards to restore the original visibility settings of all other layers, my problem is i unhide one layer and then unhide another layer above and change the layer transparency to check out that layer,and after that i turned on another layers, then all the sudden i have found that i cant go backwards anymore, i cant restore all the original visibility settings,even by click undo many times,so right now i have 3 layers visible in the scene and cant go back to restore the oringinal visibility unless i revert the file,

I needed a second audio file and created a layer and placed my video file that has the audio I want in that layer. I edited the audio in that layer and now I want to save the result as an audio file.. preferably an MP3 file. How do I select a specific layer and save just that layer as an audio file?

i want to export the little button in the top left hand corner that sais "Westcoast" (which consists of 2 layers) as a jpeg without exporting the whole photoshop file. The only way i know how to do this is hide all the other layers and size the canvas around that little button. And even then the canvas is rectangular while the button has curved edges...so some of the canvas would still be showing.

I have a very simple PSD, so i'll try to explain this super simply..
one transparent layer, with just a pair or eyebrows, with the only added blend effect as 'multiply'
one background with a face, no eyebrows.
the layer blends the eyebrows in to the background face perfectly.
i want to save the layer as a separate file keeping the tranparency and including the result of the multiply effect, without the background.
the reason why i want to do this may confuse things, but basically i want several different eyebrow colours to be interchangeable over this face in an application that doesn't recognise the blending link with the background, so i want to save it in PS !

I'm always cropping pieces of a large composition, then saving, then undoing and repeating. I noticed that GIMP has an understanding of layer size. If I could only save the image based on the layer size, I wouldn't need to crop every time, then undo. It would just know!
Aside from the redundancy, sometimes changes are made after cropping and saving and I am unable to return back to my original document size after exhausting undo's. Which means that everything else in the image is gone.

I'm plodding along with my template at work when time allows! I have just saved an initial copy as a dwt file. When I open it none of the layers I made are saved except the ones used. How do you save a layer to a dwt template file, as I need the same colors / line weights each time.
Also when I open my dwt file I have the tabs -
model, layout 1, layout 2, A2
I just want the model and A2 tab, so why do the others open as I have not made them. I have attached a dwg of the initial template for your reference.

Is it impossible to create a sub-set in the Layers Palate of Photoshop 6.0? I have a folder (set) I'm using for my navigation buttons, but want to further organize them into individual buttons. But when I try to create a new set and drag it into the existing set nothing happens.

I have a drawing that does not save the xref layer setting. I can change colors and thaw different layers but after saving and closing the drawing it reverts back to the original when opened again. I am sure this is a setting but can not find which setting.

Running Autocad LT 2014 on Win 7 64bit..I believe the Layer States Manager/Editor is broken...
I created 5 layers and drew 5 lines in model space. Then assigned each line to a different layer. I then created 5 new layer states. When I edit those layer states in the layer state manager, I turned on only one layer for each layer state... When I got out of the layer state manager and select any of these 5 layer states, all layers are on.. Also when I delete layers in the layer states editor, get out of it, then go back into it, all those layers are back again..

issue I'm having in my plot files. The way our office sets up our drawings is that we have a set of base files (which is where we do all our plans and details, etc), and then those drawings get xrefed into a different files located in a "plot" folder that that has our titleblock and viewports of the xrefed base files.
The problem is that the plot files have started to NOT save any of my layer states that are associated with the base files. For example, I have a base floor plan that has demolition, construction, RCP layer states that are toggled with LMAN. But if I open the plot file for the RCP and set up the viewports so only the RCP layers are visible...the next time I open the drawing the RCP layer state is abandoned...now ALL the layers are on and I need to redo the viewport layer states...

what is the best proper way to exclude a layer and save it in a separate file. The think is that if i freeze the other layers the new file still keeps the other layers. This creates a problem in a conversion process to shp, that i need to do.
