I work in a multi-layer map, which I want to make a copy of. At the moment my background map (x-ref in layer 0) is editable/possible to unlock, but I don´t want it to be in my copy. Basically, I just want it to use it as a background picture in my new map.
View 3 RepliesSeem like when I cut and paste objects from one file to another, particularly objects with different annotative scale, my lexisting ayers would get corrupted. Standard layer names will be appended with "@_96" at the end (i.e. "symbols" to "symbols@_96"l . The 96 would represent the annotative scale factor in the current file. If I exit out and reopen the file, all layer names will return bsck to normal. However if I cont. to work on the file for a long time, the file will get corrupted. when restore, a lot of annotative symbols that where on different "@_96" layers will merge into on new "audit" layer. Sometimes the symbols show up with a different current annotative scale
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a drawing that does not save the xref layer setting. I can change colors and thaw different layers but after saving and closing the drawing it reverts back to the original when opened again. I am sure this is a setting but can not find which setting.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a viewport in paper space with most layers set to "VP Freeze". When I save the drawing or when a auotsave occurs, the frozen layers become visible again in the viewport even though they are still marked as frozen. The only way I can get the viewport to display correctly again is to close the drawing and re-open it. How I can stop this from happening?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm working on a fire damaged 4 floor condo project.I have an xref zip folder sent to me from the original architectural firm. It's been unzipped. Now I have multiple drawings. Each with it's own xref. I want to be able to have a fully editable drawing (in this case of a 3 story condo). I want to be able to add or delete, at will, any part of the drawing without any concerns of messing up an xref file.
How can I do this?
I have been working in AutoCAD for a number of years but up until now I have been working with already created tables and spreadsheets. I need to create a new one; however my boss is very against using Excel or the AutoCAD table and importing the information. What he would like to see is a screen that pops up with a number of lines of information that can be filled in. Then just creating a grid around it with lines. I feel like I have used something similar in the past but don’t know what it is called or how to create it.

when i use the ctrol+copy command, I get the "copy to clipboard failed". This has only started since I upgraded to AutoCAD2012.
I have a large real estate map upon which I want to overlay a large amount of text labels that I can periodically modify. How do I do this without either making hundreds of layers or, if flattened, making the text layer obscure the underlying map?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've taken a color picture and made it black and white by doing the following: Layer>New Adjustment Layer>Hue/Saturation. I brought the saturation down to -100. The pencil is selected and my foreground color is black.
When I try to select the flowers in my picture to bring out their color (within the black and white image), I get a circle with a black line thru it and the error message "could not rasterize because the pixel data for this layer is not directly editable". The steps I followed are working for most of my team but some of us are getting this error message.
A simple editable mesh object, a piece of terrain, which has standard texture on it an no modifiers, just some UV's on channel 1.
Whenever I add "edit poly" modifier or convert it to editable poly, additional geometry will be created. Statistics show that only vertex count of the selected object goes up about 6x but no additional faces are generated. This not the case when check on a sub-object level, there are lot of additional faces created. I've never seen this happen, jumping between edit poly and edit mesh has been easy without any errors like this.
I've tried the same model with 2013 as well - same results. Also tried collapsing the object, removing uv-mapping, different materials, attaching the mesh to empty box, etc, garbage collection, exporting it to obj and importing - even then same thing happens.
I'm trying to copy editable text from a Word file into the text editor for GIMP. Before I upgraded to 2.8, this was possible, but now it seems not. I'm on 2.8.4 using OSX Mavericks on a Macbook Pro.
I'm a terrible speller and since GIMP doesn't support spell check, this was always my workaround.
I have a problem with CorelDraw X4, some tools like save, save as, copy, cut, export doesn't work.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have the student version of AutoCAD 2012 on an HP laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium OS. I originally installed AutoCAD in June of 2012. It worked fine for 9 or 10 months but now whenever I select File/Open, File/Save, or File/Save As, AutoCAD stops responding and the spinning blue donut appears. AutoCAD never comes back and I have to close it from Task Manager. I uninstalled AutoCAD and reinstalled it, and the process went smoothly. However I still have exactly the same problem with the File operations. I apply Windows updates, but other than that have not made any changes to the software on the laptop. AutoCAD works fine for everything except the File operations. I am able to save with CTL/S and am able to open AutoCAD files from File Manager.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a GIF image that I need to add something to, but I don't want to add it to every single individual layer. Is there a way to add it over or behind the entire GIF so that it remains static while the GIF's frames cycle - like a watermark or something?
Or if not, is there maybe a script-fu that copies and merges a selected layer over every other individual layer automatically, without messing them up?
I know I'll probably have to just end up manually adding it to each layer, (so many layers...).
I used to be able to open a drawing then close it right away, if it was not the drawing I was looking for, as long as I didn't pan, zoom, or do anything else. Almost a year ago I had a pop-up with-in AutoCAD that they reccommend I make this selection. I can't remember what it said really, it was something about a script or lisp loading at each drawing opening. Well, the result is the 'Drawing 1' does not disappear when I open another drawing and I would like that to stop. Also as I said it does it to every drawing. how to stop this? I tried the 'startup' command and that is not it. It is not a big thing just something I think is a waste of my time having to close that drawing each time I open AutoCAD. Not sure it matters but I am using AutoCAD 2012

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have two similar images where the subject has moved between the images. I have them in the same file as two separate layers and am using the subtract layer mode to identify where they differ, (roughly!).
I want to be able to use the subtract layer as a completely new layer so that I can make edits to it. The only way I have found to do this at the moment is to 'copy visible', but this still brings other elements that I don't want from where the layers overlap.
I have a number of PSD files I've created and I'm trying to save them as PDFs. I can Save for Web and Devices, I can save as a .gif, .eps., and every other format I've tested, but I cannot save as a PDF. I get the error:
"Could not save a copy as (filename) because the file is already in use or was left open by another application."
I'm running Adobe Master Collection CS5 with Photoshop CS 5.5 (12.0.4 x64) on a Windows 7 64-bit machine.
I have a 928 GB HD with 697 GB free.
I have rebooted and tried saving the files immediately after I reboot. I have killed my virus scanner. I have killed a number of other possible culprits including Acrotray.exe and CS5ServiceManager.ext
I have run Process Explorer as recommended by Microsoft and found no applications using the file. I've also tried saving the file to my external hard drive and/or renaming the file with only rare luck.
The boards seem to suggest Adobe isn't taking responsibility for this and pointing it back to the OS or other software. How/where to kill whatever process it is - but at this point, all my indicators point back to Photoshop.
First of all a little bit about the hardware/software:
- Windows 7 Enterprise 32 bit
- ACAD2011 with 1.1
- Nvidia GeForce 8400 GS (not a supported graphic card from what I know)
- Intel i5-750
Since we got that out of the way let's get to it.
A week ago I was told that a lot of times the PC's freeze when you try to "Save", "Save as" or "Open" a file (we open/save on a network drive). If that happens we have to restart the PC and hope it doesn't happen again, but since this happens quite a lot (over the course of four days about 27 times on 7 PC's) I tried to fix this.
I installed the patch, updated the drivers for the graphic card and reinstalled NET Framework 4. The problem didn't occur as often but it still happened sometimes.
There are many times you will "place" a picture file inside your Photoshop document, and want to resize it, put it in a different layer, or crop the image inside Photoshop - but you may find a simple error message or grayed out layer via copy/cut prevents you from doing so.
To do this, you will most often do this one of three ways:
1) Select the Marquee tool and outline the area of the image you want to copy or cut
2) Go to Layer > New > Layer via Cut/Copy
3) Click Ctrl+J
Many times, you will find none of these selections work. All options will be greyed out. You may be tempted to create a new layer, and then use one of these options in the new layer. In this case, you will get the error message "Could not make a new layer from the selection because the selected area is empty." All these errors are a result of photoshop not identifying pixels that you are trying to cut/copy.
There is a simple solution to this problem. Go over to the "Layers" box, and click on the layer listing for the layer where your newly placed image resides. Make sure your image is the only item in this layer, if not relocate the image into a new layer by itself. Right-click on the layer where your photo is located in the "layers" box and click on "Rasterize Layer".
Once you do this you will now be able to follow one of the steps above to Layer Via Copy or Layer Via Cut.
I am trying to copy "fx" from one picture to another but when I try to drag to next photo it doesn't seem to work I have held the alt key and dragged but no luck...
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have been trying to copy a mask from one layer to a new layer in Elements 11. I can do this in CS3 by using alt and dragging to the new layer. It doesn't work in Elements 11. Is this feature unavailable in elements 11 or is there a different command? there doesn't seem to be much point in spending all that time making a complex layer amsk and then being unable to use it on another layer.
I have to give a tutorial on layer masks using both CS3 and elements at the Camera Club!
Having issue with the layer dialogue box showing not enough layer name. Is it possible to widen it or is that controlled somewhere?
