when Im opening a new picture in photoshopCS2, it does not appear to be editable.
Ive tried making a copy of the layer - still not editable
Ive tried clicking the various layers at the top right - nothing.
all I get is the "glove hand" no matter what tool I have chosen.
there is no lock on the layer
-- seems to do this with any picture I open
I have a large real estate map upon which I want to overlay a large amount of text labels that I can periodically modify. How do I do this without either making hundreds of layers or, if flattened, making the text layer obscure the underlying map?

Could not use the paint bucket because the content of the layer is not directly editable.
I'm tryign to follow the tutorial of how to make the metal circle but when i get to the airbrush bit it says:
"could not use airbrush because the content of the layer is not directly editable"
Why is this?
and also, edit -> fill doesnt work because it doesnt come up with the fill option ...
I've taken a color picture and made it black and white by doing the following: Layer>New Adjustment Layer>Hue/Saturation. I brought the saturation down to -100. The pencil is selected and my foreground color is black.

When I try to select the flowers in my picture to bring out their color (within the black and white image), I get a circle with a black line thru it and the error message "could not rasterize because the pixel data for this layer is not directly editable". The steps I followed are working for most of my team but some of us are getting this error message.

View 3 Replies View RelatedA simple editable mesh object, a piece of terrain, which has standard texture on it an no modifiers, just some UV's on channel 1.
Whenever I add "edit poly" modifier or convert it to editable poly, additional geometry will be created. Statistics show that only vertex count of the selected object goes up about 6x but no additional faces are generated. This not the case when check on a sub-object level, there are lot of additional faces created. I've never seen this happen, jumping between edit poly and edit mesh has been easy without any errors like this.
I've tried the same model with 2013 as well - same results. Also tried collapsing the object, removing uv-mapping, different materials, attaching the mesh to empty box, etc, garbage collection, exporting it to obj and importing - even then same thing happens.
I have saved a psd file as a photoshop pdf and opened with Acrobat Pro. Is it possible to edit the text in Acrobat? I have read online that it should be possible, and when I open the file it shows the fonts as embedded, but the 'Edit Document Text' option under 'Content' doesn't allow this.

The catch, however, is that the cover would need to be editable by users without access to photoshop. I would love to be able to create the document in photoshop and then save it as an editable pdf. I'd like to create a color swatch library that I can access and also change out swatches easily so that if the client doesn't like a particular color, I could change that swatch and it would automatically change in all the files using that color library. (The gradient maps would be created by using an adjustment layer, not done to the actual image, if that makes a difference.) Is this possible? Normally I colorize grayscale .psd files directly in InDesign, but the image contrast and clarity is much better when adjusting the color in Photoshop.

I've worked with panoramas plenty of times, but when I take the 32 bit TIFF files into photoshop, I pass through CR without doing anything. Once the TIFFs are in PS, they are converted to an 8 bit mode automatically. I also tried to take those 8 bit TIFFs, auto-align, switch back to 32 bit mode, and then export as a 32 bit TIFF. I then took the panorama 32 bit TIFF into Camera Raw, but obviously, the damage had already been done and it was not true 32 bit.
