I have a font that I am thinking of using for a project; the font is near to what I want but still requires modification on some letters. I've tried the 'convert to editable shape' function but it has no effect. (I'm not referring to stretching or squashing or distorting the text; I need to bring up point handles.)
I have MAP3d 2014 drawings with object data attached. I also need to be able to see the data as text. In map 3d it is a straightforward exercise. I go to task pane> Data> add drawing layer..I select the layer I want data to display and I select the object properties, change the TextLabel into the required field and I have readable on the screen text.. However this text does not behave like text at all..If I edit it, it disappears or reverts back to the original text. When I open in normal CAD of course it is not readable...

how I change an inventor drawing to an autocad file. I can change it for idw to a dwg file and then open it in autocad, but I cannot edit it once i am in autocad, this prevents me from sending it through to a CAD/CAM scanner for manufacture.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am doing a kinetic typography project for for set to a certain song.
At one point I want two words to be displayed with simple text movement and once those two words are in place I would like an image to rise from behind them to be on top of them(not in 3d sapce but standard 2D). Since text is transparent you can see the image behind the text before the image is set to move.
I tried creating a mask around the image which does mask it out but when I move the image up the mask moves with the image, thus keeping the image masked. I thought maybe a null object with a mask would be needed but I cannot get to see to get it work. I feel this should be easy but I just do not have the skills to put the pieces together....

I was just working on several documents when something strange happened - out of nothing the appearance of fonts,layers, backgrounds etc changed. white color turned black. some layers had total different colors ( bitmap layers, no shape layers) - everything looked really messed up. I thought its some display bug in Photoshop cc so I saved my document and restart everything - fun thing -> it did save with these alterations.
Whatever happened, I have the problem in 2 documents, i can't reproduce it - one was a pretty big psd file - the other one was a fairly new one. Because of Time machine i was able to recover my file.

Using Photoshp CS5 Extended and Windows 7 Home Premium. I try to convert a text layer to a shape and I'm told it cannot, becasue I have a faux bold style. Thing is, I don't have it set to bold. I tried with Tahoma and Ariel. I tried it as none, sharp, crisp, strong, and smooth. I checked other messages here about faux type probs, but no luck.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am relatively new to After Effects CC and am using it to create a stop motion film with a large amount of photos.Usually, when importing the individual images into my composition panel, a sequence of editable rectangles appears in the composition panel allowing me to edit the frame length of the still photos.
After around 950 imported images, the little rectangles suddenly stopped showing up. But when looking at a preview of the project, it's as if the photos are in there, in the sequence they should be. I'm just unable to edit them like the previous ones with rectangles showing.
The area of issue is where you see the descending sequence of boxes in the comp panel. The red tracking bar is there to show that there are still photos continuing the sequence.
Corel Draw 5 did this very nicely but it's obsolete and I can't load it onto this machine (HP all-in-one Pavilion desktop with Windows 8).
I am working with hand-drawn images but since I need to manipulate the outline/s with a 4 - 12 pixel tool, it would be great to just be editing nodes instead. Creating the image from scratch as a vector graphic would be a horrible large amount of work and is not feasible at this time.
Is there any way other than Corel Draw 5 to make the conversion from bitmap-type images to editable vector graphics, ie: editable nodes?
PS - I don't have $700 - $1000 to spend on software at this point but do have Photoshop Elements 11, Premiere 11 and Lightroom, plus GIMP and the usual. Where should I start?

Ive tried clicking the various layers at the top right - nothing.
all I get is the "glove hand" no matter what tool I have chosen.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to copy editable text from a Word file into the text editor for GIMP. Before I upgraded to 2.8, this was possible, but now it seems not. I'm on 2.8.4 using OSX Mavericks on a Macbook Pro.
I'm a terrible speller and since GIMP doesn't support spell check, this was always my workaround.
I am trying to create an object on a new layer and fill it using the paint bucket tool and am getting the following message:
Could not use the paint bucket because the content of the layer is not directly editable.
I'm tryign to follow the tutorial of how to make the metal circle but when i get to the airbrush bit it says:

Why is this?

I work in a multi-layer map, which I want to make a copy of. At the moment my background map (x-ref in layer 0) is editable/possible to unlock, but I don´t want it to be in my copy. Basically, I just want it to use it as a background picture in my new map.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've taken a color picture and made it black and white by doing the following: Layer>New Adjustment Layer>Hue/Saturation. I brought the saturation down to -100. The pencil is selected and my foreground color is black.
When I try to select the flowers in my picture to bring out their color (within the black and white image), I get a circle with a black line thru it and the error message "could not rasterize because the pixel data for this layer is not directly editable". The steps I followed are working for most of my team but some of us are getting this error message.
A simple editable mesh object, a piece of terrain, which has standard texture on it an no modifiers, just some UV's on channel 1.
Whenever I add "edit poly" modifier or convert it to editable poly, additional geometry will be created. Statistics show that only vertex count of the selected object goes up about 6x but no additional faces are generated. This not the case when check on a sub-object level, there are lot of additional faces created. I've never seen this happen, jumping between edit poly and edit mesh has been easy without any errors like this.
I've tried the same model with 2013 as well - same results. Also tried collapsing the object, removing uv-mapping, different materials, attaching the mesh to empty box, etc, garbage collection, exporting it to obj and importing - even then same thing happens.
How do I create a photoshop file using the text tool in which the text remains editable after I save the file (instead of becoming a rasterized graphic)?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a 2D autocad 2013 file that has a good amount of text on it. When I import the file into MAX, the text is not there. So...I exploded the text. Well, the file imports with the "text" now, but it is painfully slow to navigate and select anything. (probably because of the thousands of lines that make up the text)
Is there a way to import the text, and keep them editable in Max?
What is the best workflow? I need the text only as reference. I am building an RC airplane and have the pieces drawn in CAD. I want to bring them into MAX and extrude them to make a virtual build to make sure my parts are accurate. I only need the text because it labels all the pieces for now.

Is it something to do with PS4, should I get PS5? or am I doing something wrong?
I have tried this with artistic text and also with paragraph text. In some webpage it says that SP1 for x5 allows you to do that. I downloaded SP3, but still doesnt work.
