I'm trying to select multiple layers in the layers panel on a Mac. I normally do 'command-click' and it works to select many layers. Now, it doesn't work. When I click the second layer, it draws a marquee around it. I need to select multiple layers in order to drop shadow many layers at the same time.
View 3 RepliesI'm going to connect my AI file to After effect. So I had to create lots of layers in order to edit them seperatly in After effects. But it seems like my amount of layers are too large because AE always crashes (not responding -> Force quit)
So I wanna break some stuff down in multiple AI files, but I don't wanna go and select every layer and delete it. That would take too much time. Is there a way to select the multiple objects in Illustrator and delete that but also its layer its in?
is there a way that i can move/ multiple layers at the same time?

It should say in the image above 36px/52px, not 12.16px (.16 px? Really?) and 17.56.I haven't the foggiest idea where that even comes from.
But the result for all photoshop users is that they have to individually change all the layers individually..I was hoping character styles would work, i have yet to figure out how it even works, i've tried multiple times, it just doesn't do anything to the selected type.
I've just upgraded to Corel X5 and cannot find a way of selecting more than one layer at a time in the Object Manager docker. (With X3 I simply held down Shift and selected however many layers I wanted). I sometimes need to select dozens of layers at once to delete them or switch off visibility - surely not one at a time? How is this done in X5?

I now have the official release of CS6, and I am still seeing this issue. And for clarification, here's what the issue is:
- I start off creating a text layer with a font size of 20px.
- I then transform this layer to make it larger.
- I copy the layer over so I have identical text layers.
- When I select each individually, I am shown the new, larger font size, we'll just say 40px. But when I select both together, it shows the original font size of 20px in the character palette. When I increase the font size with both selected to say 30px, it actually makes the text more like 60px.
Will this bug actually get fixed?

I'm using QSELECT to select all objects on a layer, sometimes I need to select objects from 5-7 layers.
Right now I use QSELECT, select 1 layer, click OK, open QSELECT again, select another layer and repeat. Is there a faster way to do this without scripts?
I'm sure some of you do site drawings, how do you measure a curve? Some restaurants or cafes have a rounded serving counter, how you measure the radius to plot into autocad?
I've just applied the complimentary PSE 10 to PSE 11 upgrade.All appeared to work fine. However I seem to have a problem when trying to select Media to view via Tags.If I select a Tag, the required media (photos) are displayed as expected, however if I then select a 2nd Tag all thumbnails vanish and there is a "message" : No media to be displayed.
The problem appears to be a simple case of not allowing multiple tags to be selected? This worked (and still does) in PSE10. It should be possible to display media by selecting multiple Tags but doesn't show a specific example ! I don't see any "Preference" that prevents multiple Tag displays.
Is this a bug or a PSE11 "enhancement" ? My setup is Win 7 Pro 64bit

The font increases, but the text boxes don't expand to fit the increased size text. So I am having to make each box bigger manually. View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a floorplan of a building and am labeling exits of the building for evacuation routes. Each exit label is on its own layer. I need to show the floor plan from different perspectives/orientations and therefore need to rotate the exit labels in place on their own individual axis. So far I have been going in and selecting the image (label) on each layer and rotating it 90 degrees and then repeating the process for the next label. When I group the layers they all rotate on one axis and therefore are not near the exit they are supposed to be near. Is there an easier (quicker) way to rotate the labels as I have to do this for four different perspective for each of four floor plans?

View 6 Replies View RelatedUsually when I want to work on a different layer, I will select the layer in the layers panel first, or alternatively hold down ctrl and left click on the image in my actual design that's on the layer I wish to change to. However I must have done "something" because now no matter what layer I am on, if I click on a part of my design that's on a different layer to which I am working on, it will automatically select this image and change to this layer. This is highly annoying because every time I am trying to edit something or move something around I suddenly find I am on a different layer again!
I'm not sure how I did this or how to change it back. When I started this design a few days ago it was working normally.
How do i select only a certain layer's and merge or group them together? I though it would be something like... Ctrl + G or etc.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've been having issues selecting my layers in CS2. The first thing I noticed is that i'm not able to select more than one unless I put them in a folder. The second issue, new tonight as far as i can tell, happens when i'm selecting a layer in the image by clicking on the graphic and and it doesn't select the one i'm on but rather a layer that is turned off in a folder above. Does anyone know if there is something i can do to reset my layer properties?

Adobe says, that you can select a group of frames, edit 1 frame from the group, and it will apply that for the rest of them. In order to do this, it says have one frame selected, the Shift-click another one. I had a frame selected, and then I shift-clicked another. Nothing is highlighting.

I work in Animation painting Backgrounds. My files are sometimes upwards to 200+ layers.I will use adjustment layers to quickly balance colours and constrast on top of those many many layers.
The only way that I know of how to apply adjustment layers it to every single layer ( by applying I mean I need to get rid of the adjustment layers because we cant use them in production but i need the new colours be applied to all layers underneath ) in a psd is to manually do it By duplicating the adjusment layer 200+ times and then merging each layer to one of those adjustment layers so that that layer can take the adjustment layers effect permanently.
The issue is that Within Those 200 layers I have some layers set to Multiply or OVERLAY. IT obviously wont apply the adjustment layer properly to those layers because those layer blend mode affect the layers under them. The colour wont be the same anymore in the spots that had the multiply blended mode.

I have 2 adjustment layers up top. I need to get rid of them by applying them to each layer! I cannot merge any of the layers. We need all those layers for production.I can apply the adjustment layers manually and this works GREAT for all Layers set to normal. THey take on the colour change just FINE.
However, The issue is that layer 6 and layer 4 are both set to mutiply and this screws up the colour once i apply the adjustment layers to each layer manually...
How can i apply my adjustment layers to a file like this with some layers being set to multiply while keeping the layers exactly the same configuration and The new colour taking effect exactly how i looks before i apply the adjustment layers? Now the simple solution is to merge the multiply layers to the layer that it affects HOWEVER I NEED those multiply layers to be separate!
When you're selecting layers directly from an image (using CTRL) you also select adjustment layers, so sometimes you have to lock this layer in order to get to the right layer.
It would be a lot easier to manipulate many layers (usually in my case, most of them have the adjustment layer setting 'attached' to them) if i wouldn't select these 'adjustments' when I click on the canvas. Is it actually possible to do?
I'm now using Photoshop CS6 and I've noticed that selecting all layers is having a major drain of CPU.I've run Activity Monitor and with SAL on the %CPU is showing 238! This seems crazy, but I can't work out why? There must be an error in CS6?
Even without SAL on the %CPU is still reading 131.I am using the mixer brushes and I am aware that these are a big problem in PS, but should it be this bad?

2x2.8 GHz Quad Core Intel Xeon
10 GB 800 MHz DDR2

there are a very strange thing when I select some layers with Move Tool (V). An example:
I have too many layers. If I hide or block some of them and I try to select with the Move Tool (clicking on any layout point and dragging) I can't select it. This is the right behaviour.
The problem appears if those layers are in a group and I hide or block the group. In this case the layers are selected with the same operation. And this is tedious when you have too many layers grouped and you want to block all of them.
Summarize:
- If I block each layer individually, all is right; I can`t select it.
- If I block the group, I can select the layers, and this is wrong.

View 12 Replies View RelatedI use auto-select primarily when designing. I will often clicking and dragging a marquee box to select multiple objects. I immediately noticed that it is now selecting hidden layers as well, where it didn't before.
Is there a setting or way to change this? I am assuming as of now that this is a new change. They will still select even if the layers are locked so locking groups is not a solution for this.
I'm using the Photoshop CC in Windows8 64x as trial and find a curious bug with the Move Tool:Usually I select multiple layers creating a selection with the Move Tool on them, but in this new CC version the tool is selecting hidden layers too. More details: the hidden layer are inside a folder. The folder is hidden, but the inside layers are not.
This type of selection has always worked perfectly in previously versions, and of course, I leave the option "Auto Select> Layer" enabled.

I have a landscape picture that I want to divide up into 5 parts.
I have managed to achieve the effect by using Image Ready and creating 5 seperate slices, then selecting these 5 slices, converting them to a selection, the cutting and pasting the selection to a new file. The trouble with doing this is that I have to create the slices every time for a new picture, and as I will be doing this type of work a lot, I would like to be able to call up the same selection or mask every time I work on a similar picture.
Is there a way I can save the selection mask, or slices, then recall them and apply it to the picture.
