May 31, 2013I previously used Photoshop CS3. I do catalog work and we do quantities of paths around circular buttons and pins. CS3 would make a path around the button drawing from the center edge of the image while dragging across the item. CS6 doesn't appear to do this and only wants to draw the circle from a corner point where the top and left edges would meet for example. Can the ellipse tool be set to draw from center edge as CS3 did?

Jul 30, 2005why my ellipse tool doesnt work. I used it the other day ( to draw a cirlce, obviously!). I had set the shape to be a fixed size (675 by 700 pixels) and clicked on the canvas to create the shape. This worked fine but when i went to use it again it wouldnt work. It allows me to select the tool and when i click and drag on the canvas a new layer is created but no image appears. I've tried the obviuos; putting the layer on top of all the others, checking the settings (opacity etc) but nothing seems to work.

next i would like to Duplicate the layer and then select the Vector Mask Thumbnail in the layers panel so that when i select the Pen tool the Intersect Shape Areas is available
however, i cannot seem to get the Vector Mask to be available it is always grayed out no matter what i try to do.
i am trying to add a "glossy" effect to the circle by using the Pen tool to draw a shape through it horizontally and then up and around the top of and joining/closing it so that i can add a white>trans gradient.

GIMP :: How To Make Another Ellipse Within Existing One And Of Different Color
Dec 20, 2013I am trying to color a sketch I made and have thus far (successfully??) created a white background, an ink layer and a color layer. They are in multiply mode. The file I am working with is not GIF or JPEG, it's XCF.
Color is set to 100%, mode is normal. And yes, the image mode IS set to RGB.
I had selected a small color palette and filled an ellipse shape with it. Fine so far. I wanted to make another ellipse within this one and make it a different color. This did not work. I don't know how many options I tried, incl. exiting the program and starting again, to no avail. Somehow (how this worked) ONE additional color worked (very similar to the first). But no black, for example, no green, nothing.
Yesterday I finished a picture (my first attempt using GIMP or any software, at least for art) and I was super happy with the result. It's not working.

Jan 12, 2009I have 220 still images all the same size. I am wanting to put a vignette on all of them by placing an oval shape using the elliptical marquee tool with 150 feather, inverting the selection and using my paint brush, painting over the area.
I have recorded the above in my actions, and when I use this action on my next image nothing at all happens!
I was going to use batch processing, but seeing that my actions do not work, their is no point.
How do I create a vignette, saving it then using the vignette on all 220 images.

For school photography, a vignette device used to be placed in front of the camera lens to darken the edges of the final print. Now I can create a vignette in photoshop but only on one image at a time. How do I create a vignette that I can somehow automate to end up on all 300 school children's images before I send the files to the lab for printing?

Nov 16, 2012 creating a vignette with a black background. If I can avoid using the curves to do this and make it as simple as possible would be best. The image I need to do this to is artwork placed on a white background, instead of having the hard edges that separate the bg and image it would be nicer to have a vignette effect so a soft white background surrounds the image.

Mar 6, 2011VS 10 vignette no longer shows ulead color picker when selecting matte. I get the color picker when selecting a border under attributes, but with vignette all i get is a gray scale to select from.
Maybe a corrupt file or am I missing a setting? Have used VS 10 for 6 years with no issues. I've attached a snapshot of the problem.

here's the tricky part defining the black as CYMK 40 30 30 100 (not just a straight RGB to CYMK 0 0 0 100 mapping) to give a dark black when printed by a commercial printerPhotoshop express won't export pdfs Paintshop won't either Photoshop will, Will paint.net??
