Jul 10, 2012When I select a layer, it is highlighted in grey (in the layers palette) and I am unable to edit it. My current process for making a layer editable is as follows: Select layer (highlighted in grey)Double click layer (opens "Layer Styles" dialogue box)Close "Layer Styles" dialogue boxLayer is now highlighted in blue and can be edited. I am currently running Photoshop CS5.1 on a windows machine which is using Windows 7.

Sep 30, 2013How do I copy PARTS of layers containing many objects from one CS5 AI (v.15.0.2) doc into a new CS5 AI doc and keep/create the same layer names?
To start with, I have one fairly complex AI document with 100 layers, with several hundred items in each layer. For example, one layer named "Stars" contains 400 separate stars (not grouped), another layer named "Crosses" contains 300 separate crosses, and a 3rd layer named "Text" contains 200 separate words (not outlined).
If I select, by marqueeing a section of the image/artboard, some (but not all) of the individual items contained in the several layers, then paste that selection into a new CS5 AI doc, I cannot get them to create new layers of the same name. Instead they go into one general layer (e.g. "Layer 101") as a jumble of discrete, but unorganized objects (no layers or sublayers). In other words, I have lost the 3 main layers from which I selected a bunch of objects.
Checking "Paste Remembers Layers" has no effect on this result. In fact "Paste Remembers Layers" does not remember layers at all. Only if I select ALL the items in the several layers will it paste those layers by those names into the new doc (or create new layers of the same names).
Of course it is a COLOSSAL waste of time copying the ENTIRE document, then pasting the WHOLE thing into the new doc (with layers retained), then deleting the parts I DON'T need.

If I have a psd file with 10 layers, sometimes I want to quickly move an element around but, regardless of what layer I'm working on, or which layer is selected, my "selection tool" will grab whatever layer is the top one, or the whole "group" is the layer is in one, instead. So, usually, I have to reorder my layers to make the adjustment and then reorder them again.

2. I see the small layers 'background' icon flashing as I do this into the black and white check pattern
3. It seems that the layer background is partially locked- (when I scroll my mouse over the 'lock' icon this is written)
Yet there is no icon above in 'lock' that is highlighted. So I cannot unlock it.I am able to adjust in all other methods which are not auto corrections. Perhaps I changed some settings accidentally?

Jun 26, 2013My photoshop elements 11 seems to be completly screwed up. The brush tools and/or healing tools that normally bring up a tool menu at the bottom of the screen have only half of the box visible. I cannot change the options because only half the box is shown or none of the options are visible. Its like only part of the code loaded what is spposed to appear.
The side menu is also missing parts in the very bottom left corner.It seems like it has something to do with the screen resolution on my macbook. But this is the only program that has the problem.
I have a retna display macbook 11.I am so frustrated with PE 11, and do not understand why everyone thinks itis so fantastic.

Jan 4, 2013I have an image file that was created in Photoshop. It was sliced into buttons and parts of buttons. I am trying to reassemble all the parts in Photoshop elements. I drag and drop the parts onto the canvas. I turned on the grid. I noticed that each part I drop onto the canvas creates a new tab and what looks like a new layer. I don't want this. I would like to import all the parts of the button images and reassemble them on one canvas. I have imported the images into the organizer but it seems like I can only drag and drop the image parts one at a time onto the canvas.
