How do I delete from the list of 'off line' drives a drive that is no longer used? All files that were on it are either in the main catalog or no long necessary & have been deleted. I had reconnected all pictures but when I select all thumbnails & ask that the pictures date be written to file this old drive still appears even though its empty.
View 1 RepliesI have just had a new 1TB internal hard drive installed in my PC and then the original smaller internal 500GB hard drive cloned onto it. The new 1TB is now Local Dick C and the smaller 500GB has been changed from C and is now Local Disk F. PSE11 is running from the new C and all my pictures are on both C and F but the catalogue is pointing to F. I want to delete all of the old files on F to free up space since they are all cloned to the new 1TB C, so I want the PSE11 catalogue to point only to the pictures on C. I have tried creating a new Catalogue and importing my pictures from C. The images come in and look connected to C but, when I close PSE11 and then reopen that new catalogue, the image path reads F, as does the original catalogue. So, now I have two catalogues apparently point to F but I want to: 1) have only one catalogue pointing to C; 2) the delete catalogues pointing to F; 3) then reformat F: so I have a clean 500GB old hard drive for future expansion.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've recently purchased X6. In using it, I find that Photo-paint (64 bit) knocks my external USB offline, with an I/O error. I have to restart the drive and reboot the computer to get the drive back in Explorer. I don't have any problem with any other program, and the drive checks out OK when I have Windows check it. I restored my computer to X4, and that's working fine.
I'm using Windows 7, 64 bit. My video card and USB drivers are up to date, as is Windows. My USB drive is a Western Digital 2 GB with USB 3.
I have about 9000 missing or offline images according to my Lightroom3 software.
However, they're not! I can see them in the folders on an external drive where Lightroom says they are not. When I try to reimport them, Lightroom says they are already there, doubly confusing?!
How to get them back in my Library so I can use them.
I had an internal hard drive installed in my macbook pro 15 inch in place of my optical drive in order to give me more storage space. Per apple's instructions I then copied and moved Lightroom v3.6 to the new 1 TB drive. I then deleted Lightroom from the older smaller internal drive. Now when I open Lightroom in the new drive all the photos say file is "offline or missing' and can not be used. How I can use the files in Lightroom. 99% of them were raw files from either a 12 or 18 MP camera.

Is there a way to extract selected thumbnails from the cache?
PS: I frequently use "Reconnect" to be confirm that I have all files but apparently offline files are ignored in that process. It used to be easy since the thumbnails were discrete but now . I learned to avoid offline files in early Photoshop Album days - but at least then I could find the thumbnails.
I have a red circle in the left hand upper corner of my photos. I position my mouse on the circle and it says OFFLINE. I go to print them and get the following message in a box: Find offline volumes. Print one or more selected item are located on removable volumes. I notice they are on volume K. I have no K volume. I only have drive C & D.

When I tried to delete them, I get the prompt that asks if I want to remove from the library or permanently delete from disk. I choose the latter but then nothing happens.

View 2 Replies View Relatedhow I ended up with a shared network drive duplicated under the folders area of Lightroom 3.6. Maybe it was a user error but now my network drive where I have 15,000 pictures appears twice in the folder area and it is constantly updating (since there are quite a few pictures).
How can I delete the duplicated drive? I have "removed" all the folders under the duplicated drive (and made it disappear) but the drive keeps coming back as the synchronization process will add all the folders that exist on that drive.
The two drives with "Volume_1" in the name are actually one shared network drive (I only have one). I actually removed my network drive mapping (N:) to fix the problem but that did not even work; LR still found a duplicate name for the same network drive and started to synchronize (again).
I am running LR 3.6 on Windows 7 and keep my images on an external drive. When I select the "Delete from Disk" option, the file is removed from the catalog but now from the external drive as it is supposed to.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I import images into Lightroom 4 I always automatically backup to my external drive. I then edit my images and usually end up rejecting about 1/3 to half of my images. I delete these permenantly from my PC and the L4 catalogue. BUT they still appear to remain on my backup drive which is now innevitably full. Is there a quick and easy way of deleting these rejected images or syning the master files with the catalogue to free up nearly half of my backup drive?
View 3 Replies View RelatedLightroom can't send items to trash when deleting files on an external drive if the trash bin is empty for the relevant drive on OSX Lion. This was in LR3 and now in 4. You can get round this by making sure the trash is not emptied after deleting a random file or folder but there has to be a better way!
Also it seems to be a lightroom problem more than OS as Bridge can delete the files with no problem.
Somehow I ended up with three catalogs in LR 4 -- Catalog.lrcat, Catalog-2.lrcat and Catalog-3.lrcat. My original catalog in LR3 was Catalog.lrcat. When I upgraded to LR4, Catalog-2.lrcat was created, and this is the catalog that I use. I'm not sure how Catalog-3 was created, but all of the images are grayed out and have question marks on them.
I would like to free up some space on my hard drive by getting rid of -- deleting -- Catalog (104MB) and Catalog-3 (103MB). Is this not recommended? And exactly how do I go about deleting a catalog?
Any easy way to select all my unflagged (unpicked) images and then delete them from the hard drive in LR4.
For example, I recently shot over 400 images of sports for a local paper, and after editing and saving the JPGs for publicaation, I only want to keep about 30 images as Raw files. These were all "picked" (flagged) some of them were given colour labels.
I tried selecting them and then inverting the selection to show the unflagged ones for deletion, but this didn't work.
How do I get my files and folders from my G: drive? At present PSE Organiser does not show any. I moved them there from my C: drive.

When I do the backup (full), it runs (I give it about 3 hrs). When I open the task manager is says not responding. Is there another way to move the pictures and captions to a backup and to put on the new computer. Were talking 42 gb of pictures.
