How can I make this cut out more realistic?Is there a fairly easy way to soften the edges so it fades into the background more?

I am superimposing a person into a picture. I need blend/soften the edges of their hair line into the background so they look more a part of the picture. What's the best way to do this? (I'm using CS4)

I have succsssfully used the Transform=>Skew command to 'square' a photo of an art canvas. And have cropped the photo to the edge of the canvas.
Question:
What are the steps/strategy to selecting the black/dark background and converting to a transparent or lighter color.
I have a strange (might be small) problem in my PS (CS 5.5).. while selecting with the Select tools (Marquee) i cant see the running marquee lines any more (those dotted lines around) instead i have a solid line around the selection. How do I bring back the running line?

When moving a selected portion of an image from one canvas to another or even within the same canvas, I have a hard edge on the selection that I'm moving. How do I soften the edge of the selected area to make a smooth transition. When I move the selected area to where I want it, a hard edge gives the appearance that it has infact been moved, whereas if the edges were smooth or softer, it would have a more of a blend and not be as obvious that something has been moved.

The transition form where the hall ends and the green stuff I pasted begins. The edge is to hard or something. I don't know how to explain it but it is obvious that there can be made some progress there. How to make those edges more natural?

I am on Xara Photo & Graphic Designer 2013.I have a headshot that I can cut out of a larger photo using the freehand tool to trace the edges and then subtract the background that I want cropped out.
Now, I'm trying to figure out how I can apply some kind of transparency to the edges to soften them up a bit so they aren't so stark and will overlay nicely over my site background once the image is uploaded.
I have been having this problem for a while now that whenever I extrude or create something thats not totally smooth the edges by default are hardened. For example if I create a 12 faced cylinder it will hard edge everything including the verticle edges. Back when I first started using Maya i dont remember having to select specific edges to soften which can get very tedious and take up time.
I feel like there should be some sort of way to harden horizontal edges and soften verticle edges but I cant find the solution anywhere. Is there any way to change the default soften/harden edges?

I would like to create a custom brush that fades into the background of a picture. Is this possible and how would I go about doing this?? Any help would be much appreciated!

I need to soften the outline of a girl in a photo without changing the background. I have tried the Modify Edges tool in the selections menu, but the results of the feathering command do not show up on the photo.

The edges of the circle blend with the background color, but I will be using this image in a game and the background color is the alpha color. If the background color dissapears in the game, but parts of the circle have colors that blend with that background color, it will look very strange. How can I stop the image from blending it's edges (I guess what it's doing is anti-aliasing to make a smooth effect) with the background?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been asked to create a set of photos with a faded background. My boss gave me the attached image as an example. I initially thought it would be fairly easy. I could add a layer mask and a Gaussian Blur. I have successfully faded the edges, but I have only managed to do it with a color fill layer, I can't work out how to get the background transparent without it looking jagged and ugly. I need to effect to look like the attachment.

I have a web image (gif format) with a transparent background (deleted the background layer before saving as a gif), and when the image is against a darker webpage, the text of the image (that is basically all the image is, just blended text) has white pixels around the edges of the text. Did I do something wrong when I deleted the background, or how I saved the file???

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have an image I want to cut the white space out of and make it transparent. I can use the magic wand tool to highlight everything I want to remove, but when I hit delete on my keyboard nothing happens.
It's originally a JPG image with a white background that I am pasting into GIMP.
I attempted to magic wand what I wanted to keep and then to copy/paste it to a new document, but the image is too intense to highlight it, it is much easier to just highlight the whitespace surrounding it.
I used an outer glow layer style to make a curvy gradient but it fades towards the edges of the canvas. Is there any way to get rid of the fade short of making the style larger than I need and then cropping it, or is there a better way to make a gradient like this?

I'm coming from Fireworks.A technique I use often in my ui work is to combine a texture with a gradient that fades the gradients color and the pattern to transparent.
In Fireworks, this can be done on a single layer with no mask. The transparency of the gradient affects the pattern.This is not the case in Photoshop. I am wondering how I can accomplish the same thing in Photoshop, while keeping everything vector.

I'm practicing using Coreldraw and made a logo with a transparent background. It's a combination of rectangles and text. I exported the logo as a png. Everything looks fine in corel, but when I upload it to the web the edges are very ragged on the rectangles and text. I tried it with and without converting to curves and the same thing happens.
