I would like to create a custom brush that fades into the background of a picture. Is this possible and how would I go about doing this?? Any help would be much appreciated!

How can I make this cut out more realistic?Is there a fairly easy way to soften the edges so it fades into the background more?

When I create custom brushes and custom brush dynamics is it possible to associate one with another? For example then I select one of my custom brushes is there a feature in gimp to load corresponding dynamics preset automatically?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI used to use MediaStudio Pro to create picture in picture especially where the picture starts small and grows to cover the entire background video clip.
I looked for and found a video filter which I thought would allow me to do the same. However after viewing the 'help' for the filter and trying just about everything I could think of I cannot achieve what I want to do if start with a video clip and then have another video clip appear (very small) in one area of the background video and then slowly grow larger to eventually cover the background video clip.
I can make the picture in picture appear and grow larger but it covers the entire background video clip with black effectively covering it no matter what size my picture in picture is. I looked for a chroma key to cover the black out but could not find it.
or how to position a picture in a specific location within a background picture.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI read on Photoshop Help that custom brush presets are stored in a preferences file within the Documents and Settings folder. I had a few custom brush presets that I'd built up over a few years in CS2 on a computer (with 2 harddrives) that died 2 weeks ago. The data on the two harddrives were succesfully transferred to a new computer (in a folder called "Old Drive" which still contains all the CS2 settings). To recover those custom brush presets can I just copy the "Brushes.psp" file from the old Settings folder to the new CS2 Settings folder (which does not currently have a Brushes.psp file because I haven't made any new brushes yet)?
For that matter can I copy and paste all the individual old settings (Actions Palette, Contours, Favorites,Patterns, Color Settings, Custom Shapes,New Doc Sizes, PluginCache, and Styles) into the new to recover what I had before? What am I likely to mess up by doing that? Could I just copy and paste the old folder "Adobe Photoshop CS2 Settings" into the new folder?

The only way I can think to do it is to put a layer over the top of it with the color I want and then reduce the optacity - but this never works because it just looks brown or something. View 2 Replies View RelatedI have reviewed a couple of videos on how to create a watermark "stamp" by using the define brush option. However after following all of the instructions up to the point where I am supposed to select the area to define I can go no further. It says to select the image/text and then go to edit -> define brush. When I do this the define brush option is faint and I cannot select it. The videos all appear to be done using Elements 11 or earlier. It this a glitch with 12?

In photoshop when you left click with an intuos/bamboo pen it brings up the brush tool window.

Is there a hotkey to close this window? I have been clicking to top of photoshops toolbar to close the brush window, but I would thing there is a hotkey to dismiss it on the keyboard.

I want to create a logo. The word I am creating is going to be Foxx. I want the backside of the F to have a fox's head coming out of it. I want the appearance of the Fox's had to be growing from the back side of the F. I am capable of pulling this off. I am more interested in the techniques that some of you would use to acheive this task.
1.What I would do is find a picture of a fox's face in this case a profile shot.
2.I'd then import that pic and extract the head from the fox (only in the picture PETA )
3.I'd then use my combination of the pen tool, shape tool, and direct selection tool to trace the fox's face.
4.Finally I'd design the F to match the fox's face.
I do not have Illustrator.
I used an outer glow layer style to make a curvy gradient but it fades towards the edges of the canvas. Is there any way to get rid of the fade short of making the style larger than I need and then cropping it, or is there a better way to make a gradient like this?

I find myself using the same layer folders tree and it would be awesome to be able to start right away with a blank document already loaded with this tree.If complete multi layered file is not possible, something like being able to choose the background from a picture (instead of white/color/transparent) would be a great time saver.

I am working on a project for my online class and am having difficulties with the History Brush. Note that both files are identical in size etc.

1. I created a color text file and saved it with a specific name.

2. I copied an existing photo from iPhoto, as I couldn't import into PhotoShop, and pasted it in a new file. I then removed the white background layer and then saved it with its now specific name and closed the file.

3. I re-opened the Color Text File.

4. I then re-opended my photo.

5. I performed a "Select All" from the menu bar of my active Photo then selected Edit - Copy and then closed my Photo file.

6. From my Color Text File I selected Edit and then Paste from the menu bar.

7. I selected Layer and Flatten Image from the menu bar.

8. I right clicked the background image from the Layers Panel and created a snapshot (which is my photo)

9. I selected the History brush and verified that this also displayed in the gray box associated with the Color Text file within the History Panel.

10. I verified that my photo image was displayed in my work area.

11. I start to fill the photo with my History Brush and the only color I get is White.
I'm coming from Fireworks.A technique I use often in my ui work is to combine a texture with a gradient that fades the gradients color and the pattern to transparent.
In Fireworks, this can be done on a single layer with no mask. The transparency of the gradient affects the pattern.This is not the case in Photoshop. I am wondering how I can accomplish the same thing in Photoshop, while keeping everything vector.
I have just installed Photoshop CS4. When I try to use the spot healing box on a dark background,the target area is invisible as the target circle is black, as is the background. It's like trying to find a black cat in a coal mine.
What can I do to see the brush target circle.
What I am trying to do is to have a flat vector brush in black that I can change to whatever colour I want later just be selecting the colour from the colour bar while I am working.
So. When I edit the brush I go to the fill Properties tab and select 'Local colours replace - all brush colours' and save. The trouble is that it does not seem to save this setting. When I edit the brush again it reverts to 'local colours replace - named colours' I get the same problem if I 'save as new'.
I have been looking for a way to toggle which brush is selected with a custom key but I cant seem to figure out how to do it. Perhaps even better would be to select specific tool presets with custom keys.
I should also note that I am aware of the shortcut action "Select Brush by Index", however it always selects the first brush. Is there a way to change the index number?
I'm exploring custom brushes in Illustrator (CS6) but cannot figure out how to get rid of the spaces in between my brush pattern. I have the brush stretched to fit and the spacing at 0% but there is still a tiny gap before each pattern repetition. I tried to make the spacing a negative % but you can't do that.
