i'm trying to create a custom brush out of a photo i took. i've been watching vids and reading and i follow the steps just the same as they show. When i get to the part of define brush preset it doesn't let me click it.
I have reviewed a couple of videos on how to create a watermark "stamp" by using the define brush option. However after following all of the instructions up to the point where I am supposed to select the area to define I can go no further. It says to select the image/text and then go to edit -> define brush. When I do this the define brush option is faint and I cannot select it. The videos all appear to be done using Elements 11 or earlier. It this a glitch with 12?
how to create custom brush strokes (page 159 in d the pdf). The example shows a tube that follows the curved path.
How (what kind of object) do you need to create a brush stroke in which the fill follows the path?
I created a rectangular object and filled it with an appropriate fountain fill - saved the brush stroke following instructions. The result is that the fountain fill does not follow the curve but stays horizontal.
Trying to use a mesh fill results in the message "the object does not work well in a brush stroke" and is refused.
Second question:Draw X contains a multitude of brush strokes, patterns, etc. How can these be made usable in TDX5?
When I create custom brushes and custom brush dynamics is it possible to associate one with another? For example then I select one of my custom brushes is there a feature in gimp to load corresponding dynamics preset automatically?
I know that you can paintbucket patterns and from what I last remembered, you could do the same thing with the paintbrush, but in CS2 I can't quite figure it out. Basically, what I want to do, is be able to use the paintbrush to paint my own textures. I would like to select a textural area of a pictures, create a texture from that, and then paint it where ever.
I have a line path and I want to apply a brush stroke to it. I know how to do this and i was wondering if there is a way to apply a gradient colour to the stroke at the same time. it is a curved line so a gradient mask doesn't achieve what I need. i want the line to consistently change colour as you go along it even round curves.
I read on Photoshop Help that custom brush presets are stored in a preferences file within the Documents and Settings folder. I had a few custom brush presets that I'd built up over a few years in CS2 on a computer (with 2 harddrives) that died 2 weeks ago. The data on the two harddrives were succesfully transferred to a new computer (in a folder called "Old Drive" which still contains all the CS2 settings). To recover those custom brush presets can I just copy the "Brushes.psp" file from the old Settings folder to the new CS2 Settings folder (which does not currently have a Brushes.psp file because I haven't made any new brushes yet)?
For that matter can I copy and paste all the individual old settings (Actions Palette, Contours, Favorites,Patterns, Color Settings, Custom Shapes,New Doc Sizes, PluginCache, and Styles) into the new to recover what I had before? What am I likely to mess up by doing that? Could I just copy and paste the old folder "Adobe Photoshop CS2 Settings" into the new folder?
How to make custom brushes flow in a curved line. For instance I created a thorn stem brush and it works if I use it in a straight line (A) but if I curve it, it goes out of shape (B)...
I would like to create a custom brush that fades into the background of a picture. Is this possible and how would I go about doing this?? Any help would be much appreciated!
how to create a custom brush shape. Is there a way to create a custom effects using your own shape but creating an effect similar to the one you get with the butterfly or flower brush, like this?

I am working on a paint pallet and need to add brush strokes. I want to give the effect that some one whiped the brush through the paint and then dabd it on the pallet. Make sence? I hope so.
I am not done yet, I actually just started, but I couldn't figure out how to go about the brush strokes so I figured I would ask.
I have downloaded some free brushes to try out, and can upload them no prob. but can only add them to preset groups of brushes (such as basic brushes, calligraphic brushes etc. As i have a lot of brushes to add, the group becomes big and hard to manage.
Is there a way I can add a new group of brushes, where I can put all of my custom brushes, to keep them seperate from photohsops preset brushes?
Could anyone advise me if it is possible, and if so how to create an action with a brush.
I've created a brush which is just my copyright information that I want to stamp in the bottom left of every photograph when it is converted to a JPEG.
My convert to JPEG action works fine, but I can't seem to record an action that uses the brush.
I would like to create a halftone image using a custom shape in the "Halftone Screen" dialog box. i.e. using a custom shape I created instead of the standard "round" "diamond" etc. Basically what I want to know is - if it is possible - how does one create a custom .AHS file containing a custom shape you created so as to create a halftone image.
I am new to adobe and am looking for info on the best way to add custom metadata & namespace to jpgs for viewing via Photoshop. Not sure of what the best way is, Looks like I may need flex but I'm not sure.
i recently created a gif image using image ready (around 120 different frames) and i would like to give it round edges for instance, how would i go about doing that?
Is there a way to create a square brush in photoshop for retouching so that you can change the size of the brush and the opacity when working on photographic images.
How to create a 3d box in CS6 with custom texture. Before explaining my problem, i saw couple of good 3d onject videos already and i am close to my target but yet not finished
Problem:
I would like to create a 3d product box with custom textures, reflection and shadows. I have my top, front, back and side images in high quality.
My Solution:
1- With my box TOP image, i create the 3d layer. 2- Because it creates the box with the top image looking front, i position it as the top image comes to the top of the box. 3- I resize the box to the dimensions i would like to. 4- Side, front and back textures are missing. As its a custom made box, i can only add all of them in one image so i merge them vertically in a file and add the texture in 3d section 5- With UV scaling, i fit the image perfectly 6- Adding light and reflections 7- Render
Now the main problem is, my images have the exact measures of the real product box and i would like to create a box with these dimensions.
1- How can i play with the dimensions of the 3d box with numbers, such as pixel or cm ? As i can see, its only with %. Or is there an option so when i add the second image (side, front and back, merged), box's length dimension changes accordingly?
2- How can i create 3d box and add different textures to different part of the box? I found CUBE MESH PRESET in the forums but no download link, EVEN IN THE DISCCUSION itself
3- I have a i5-3570 , 8GB Ram, 1GB Radeon HD7750 at work, newly built. I work with high resolution files, and when i create my box and render it, some parts come out blur, why this is happening? At home i have a older PC, and it doesnt happen that much. Where i can modify the render quality or such a thing if it exists?
Photoshop CS6 as of today.I have a number of .grd files which containg "sets" of gradients (no idea how they create thoose "multiple swatch .grd files"). Is there a way I can create one master "favorites.grd" set of gradients where I can pick swatches from the scores of sets I already have?

I need step by step gradient text instructions for Photoshop WITH TWO CUSTOM COLORS GOING FROM TOP TO BOTTOM.

how to create an icc profile that I can then select as a proof setup preset? Can icc profiles only be created with the video card or can they be made in photoshop?
I have tried many times to create custom size documents inPSE 10 without success. For example from the File Menu I select New Document and key in sizes required making any other adjustments. I name the file and close the document. When I open a document to select a custom preset that I have created the Custom Box displays but the dropdown "size" box (where I need to select my preset) is Greyed out.
Seems I am not the only one who is having difficulty with something that is normally straightforward and I wonder if the problem is down to an oversight or bug.
What I am trying to do is to have a flat vector brush in black that I can change to whatever colour I want later just be selecting the colour from the colour bar while I am working.
So. When I edit the brush I go to the fill Properties tab and select 'Local colours replace - all brush colours' and save. The trouble is that it does not seem to save this setting. When I edit the brush again it reverts to 'local colours replace - named colours' I get the same problem if I 'save as new'.
I have been looking for a way to toggle which brush is selected with a custom key but I cant seem to figure out how to do it. Perhaps even better would be to select specific tool presets with custom keys.
I should also note that I am aware of the shortcut action "Select Brush by Index", however it always selects the first brush. Is there a way to change the index number?
I'm exploring custom brushes in Illustrator (CS6) but cannot figure out how to get rid of the spaces in between my brush pattern. I have the brush stretched to fit and the spacing at 0% but there is still a tiny gap before each pattern repetition. I tried to make the spacing a negative % but you can't do that.
In pervious versions of photoshop you could make a path with the pen tool and press esc to basically deselect the path without closing it. This would also allow you to make multiple paths so that you could keep making lines and then stroke them all at once. This no longer works with photoshop CC. Pressing esc just deselects the path but when you try to start a new path it continues the first one. Is there anyway to get this feature back in CC? It is such a waste of time to stroke individual paths instead of drawing all the lines with the pen tool and stroking them all at once.
