I opened about 80 CR2 RAW files in Photoshop to preview, tweak a few, and export as PSDs. Clicking the down arrow to see each pic, three different times I got the twirling beachball. After waiting a while I force quit PS and when I opened them again the file that was twirling became un-readable. PS says "File format module cannot parse the file."
My d800 files are corrupting in PS6. I've tried new cards and am starting to think it's the camera. the weird thing is the files can be viewed in the camera but when I import them to my computer they won't open giving a "file corrupt" error. I've tried a hired d800 and had no problems.
My Photoshop is corrupting files in a very destructive fashion, and it seems to be tied to the live rendering of gradients. Not just blur filters, as in this thread [URL] but opacity adjustments in layers, and hue/brightness shifts. This happens usually in files with large dimensions, but not necessarily complicated layer structures.
This type of corruption, which renders blocks, tesselated shapes, or inverts/fills odd layers, seems to be a problem for multiple users, but I haven't seen a solution.
I think I may be the first person to link it directly to the live rendering of gradients- rather than just the blur filters. Anything that has to render a gradated shift across the image seems to be the culprit. Usualy starting as a solid, and ending as a transparent. However, simply adjust hue/brightness over an opaque layer will make the corruption happen as well. Which leads me to believe that this corruption is caused by live on screen rendering of gradient shifts.
Here are my specs:
CS6 13.0.4 x 64 Mac OSX v.10.7.5 3.2 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon 12 GB 1066 MHz DDR3
We just got brand new systems at work less than a month ago and this event has happened twice since then. When using Photoshop CS5 Extended and using Gaussian blur the file becomes block and all layers as well as their masks become corrupted with these blocks.
Here are my system specs...
Model Name: Mac Pro Model Identifier: MacPro5,1 Processor Name: 6-Core Intel Xeon Processor Speed: 2.66 GHz Number Of Processors: 2 Total Number Of Cores: 12 L2 Cache (per core): 256 KB L3 Cache (per processor): 12 MB Memory: 16 GB Processor Interconnect Speed: 6.4 GT/s Boot ROM Version: MP51.007F.B00 SMC Version (system): 1.39f11 SMC Version (processor tray): 1.39f11
Here's what the corruption looks like in my Library view. Note that all of the photos are the same. I just rapid-fired a bunch of shots down the hallway to test this out.
I first noticed the corruption on the PC, pulling photos from the 32GB card. I bought a new hard drive (SSD hybrid), installed a clean version of Windows 7, and upgraded to Lightroom 5, then the 5.3 update. I re-downloaded some photos from the 32GB card, and they still show up corrupted. So here is my further testing:
I shot a series of photos like shown above on the 32GB card, downloaded them on the laptop with a new USB cable. The photos look good.I shot a series of photos on the 4GB card, downloaded them to the laptop with the same cord, they look good.I imported the same photos photos from the 4GB card and from the 32GB card on the PC with my existing Lighrtoom Catalog and they are corrupted.I created a new Lightroom Catalog on the PC and downloaded the same photos from the 4GB card and from the 32GB card on the PC and they are corrupted.I think we can rule out corruption or issues on the hard drive, the OS, the USB cable, and both of the CF cards. It baffles me that a new HD, clean OS install, new catalog, new USB cable, and upgraded Lightroom haven't solved the problem. Is it possible that there is some other part of the hardware on my PC which is corrupting the files?
I have exported some files and reimported them into a new catalog. LR either will not let me export the.tiles- saying they are unsupported or if they do export they are damaged.
if I export the files as a new catalog they are fine.
when I check the exported files in windows explorer they have lines going through them.
I am working on my laptop Win 7 64 bit using Toschiba esata external drive.
this is not happening on my desktop just my laptop
I bought an A7R in November and I awaited 5.3 to support the camera, so basically I have both the software and camera new. However, on certain photos on import the files become corrupt in Lightroom with long straight horizontal lines going through the image.
Only random files, off any SD card. I have recently had a new hard drive so it can't be that plus ive used two different SD readers. I have also reinstalled Lightroom.
They open fine in PS and save down as TIFF's just fine, so I'm really at a loss now.
I think the next step is to try on my work laptop with Lightroom installed from creative cloud to see if the same files corrupt on.
When I import a pdf file the program tries to interpret the special characters as some control function. the script over write for a few characters after a dash.Do I need to have the originator save in a different format or do I have to select a special font to convert it to?
Corel has suddenly started corrupting any new files I save. I'll make a file, save it, then when I open it... It goes through the motions of opening it, but when it is done nothing opens. There is nothing there.
If I change the file to a zip file and open the riffDATA.cdr file that works, but this CAN'T be my solution. Could a virus have corrupted Corel?
Every time I go to modify or even just save a previously created block my copy of C3D will corrupt the file. The corruption of the file is not noticeable until I go to insert the block into any other dwg. If I try to insert this modified block into any drawing it will not scale to the correct units. It does not matter if it is a dynamic block or a simple block of a square it will corrupt them all the same way. Extremely Frustrating to stay the least.
P.S. I have tried using the repair tool, re-install and a coplete uninstall and reinstall of AutoCAD C3D 2013 and no change. I also have installed Service Pack 2.
1. Workflow is in lightroom version 4.1 Photoshop CS5.5 is used when necessary as secondary workflow 2. Import works fine. "preview thumbnails" appear normal. When I CLICK on the next image it will suddenly do this ^ to the file 3. I have tried taking that EXACT file and running it through Adobe DNG converter but it comes out looking exactly like this... so it seems that lightroom is actually corrupting the file 4. I have a copy of all my raw files on another drive so I can grab those files and they do not have this problem
It happened a couple months ago, but I thought it was a bug, and now it's happened again, and now it's corrupting my original files.
Here's what's happening, at least my actions thus far. Lightroom 4 worked fine and dandy. No issues whatsoever. We then upgraded to LR5.
Now, as I'm going in Library tab through images as it's seems to be pulling up an image it shows up with jagged edges and just looks -- corrupted. So then I look at the file in Finder and now that image can't be opened up in Photoshop, Preview or any other application. For some reason LR's previews are corrupting the ACTUAL, ORIGINAL images.
Now back a month ago, it happened when it wasn't a big deal, I had the RAW original files backed up, but now, now it's corrupted at least two folders and the original RAW files can't be opened. Here's the summary:
-- As for corrupt cameras/disks -- I have files from Hasselblaad and from Canon doing this. I have many different cards that were used in this.
-- It's only when I opened up in Lighroom 5. Otherwise files were fine. JPEG conversions that were made from these images weeks ago were fine.
-- It's happening to one out of every 5 pictures or so. Which is A LOT OF PICTURES TO BE CORRUPTED.
For the ones that I have backed up, now I have to go figure out which....rename them...etc. AND HOPE AND PRAY this doesn't happen again.
-- It says it can't open the file.
And then when I go to finder, through lightroom, to RAW image it doesn't work to even bring it in Photoshop.
SO it's corrupting my files so that Photoshop can't recognize them. NOT all photos are being affected, just the folders I go to in Lighroom. Any other files in lightroom (from same day/camera) are okay.
I'm using Lightroom 3 with the catalog on my macbook and original files on seagate firewire goflex external hardrive,
( has happened with 2 different firewire seagate hardrives) Lightroom has been corrupting some images (edits and some originals) randomly, which are then un-retrievable apart from my personal back ups.
How can I view an AI file created on a MAC on a PC without corrupting the original fonts? An AI file was created with an image and text on a MAC. When the AI file was opened on a PC, the text fonts were not the same as originally created. Also, the same AI file was saved to PDF on the MAC. When the AI file was opened on a PC, there wasn't anything visible.
Computer: Dell Optiplex 790, Intel i5-2400 - 3.10 GHz, 8 GB RAM, NVidia Quadro 600 video card, Windows 7 - 64 Bit
Vault: Files are not displayed if opened in Detail view. Must go to the Incon view to display files. Then, switching back to Detail view, file (Vault) status is not shown. If click "Get/Check IN" on file, Vault will crash and shut down. More recently, an HTTP 404: Not Found error appears when clicking on files - may disappear after a wait or clicking on the file repeatedly.
Inventor: Cannot access any files through the Vault tab - Inventor crashes and shuts down. If file opened from Vault instead, it will open and can be saved, checked In/Out.
All of this started a couple of weeks ago shortly after installing Windows Updates. It occurs only on my machine. No other Vault/Inventor user is having any problems. Two IT techs spent a week trying to solve the problem. The only solution was to unistall and reinstall everything including Windows 7. It worked great for a week until another Windows update was installed - now back to the same problems.
Is there a way to remove marks / pimples/etc without "corrupting" the rest of the image?( I mean without being obvious that the image was altered/processed.
I got over 160 color corrected RAW files from my photographer when I thought I was getting TIf or PSD files. I need to put them into an in design doc to send out for printing. Is there a way to convert all of these in one fell swoop without messing up the work that has already been done?
I didn't allow in my timing to save each one individually since i didn't know I was going to need to do this. I am really unfamiliar with batch processing, so how to best go about this, or if I even can. I am working in Photoshop CS6. version 13.06 x 64.
I am using Photoshop Elements 10 Version 10 (20110831.m.17215) and everytime I plug in a memory card to upload images it wants to upload every image on the card, even though it has previously uploaded images from that card, even though I have the "Copy New Files Only (Ignore Already Imported Files)" box ticked in the preferences Camera or Card Reader section. This gets very frustrating and time consuming when I have to go through the images every single time to uncheck the images that have already been uploaded.
Photoshop CS6 Extened won't play or process Dolby Digital (AC-3) Audio Files from my AVCHD video files. The video plays fine just no sound at all. When processed still no sound. Are there any (AC-3) audio codecs I can download and install. How would I install them. Do I need to convert audio files to another format & if so how & what format.
After getting no support from your phone support line. I am writing here in hopes that this issue can be resolved. I cannot open files or create new files in Photoshop CC trial.
I am working on a museum project. I have been asked to convert full resolution files to web based files using "Save for Web and Devices". The problem is in the file naming. Museums typically use accession #s for each work. Example 1999.63.102 So the digital file would be named 1999.63.102.jpg (or tif).
When I attempt to save the file using "Save for Web and Devices" the resulting name is converted to 1999.jpg I believe the . (periods) to be the culprit. There are hundreds to do so renaming is not an option. This does not occur when I use "Save as".
PSE 12 has a new feature under Preferences/Camera or Card Reader called "Alutomatically Stack RAW and JPEG." Checking this will stack a RAW & JPEG file combination, i.e., when shooting with the camera's RAW + JPEG setting checked. In my case PSE 12 appears to stack my Panasonic RAW files and each JPEG thumbnail shows the right facing arrow to expand the stack. When I click the arrow the arrow disappears but the stack does not expand to reveal the RAW file. The RAW file still exists on the hard drive, but I can't find any way to reveal it in PSE (I've not tried to re-import the RAW files because there are a lot of files in a lot of folders.) This is rather critical and needs to be fixed.
I have a fairly new Panasonic Lumix LX5. I've recently converted a few files to DNG. They're turning out to be @ 37MB, over three times larger than the original file.
I'm not embedding the original raw files in the DNG. NEF files I convert from my Nikon D2x are around 9.5MB. I'm running Mac OS 10.5.8, DNG v 6.6 and also use PS CS5.5 and Lightroom 3.0.
I'd like to know if the new CS6 Preference which allows users to "Disable Compression of PSD and PSB files" applies to 8 bit files.
The reason I am asking is that the DisallowFlateCompressedPSD registry change for CS5, which disables compression of PSD and PSB files does not work for 8 bit files (it only works for 16 bit and 32 bit files)I work on large 8 bit files (4-8GB) and would like to know if CS6 would allow me to disable compression on those files.
er to color grading, I would like to ask about the difference between .look files and .icc files. As far as I understand .look files contain 3d luts and .icc profile files also contain those luts. What is the difference between these two file types?
Resetting the User Setting with the the F8 key didn't solve the problem. Once the user gets caught up on a couple projects I'll try to update the version to SP3 and the hotfix.
Will the current plugins for Sigma DP1/2 RAW files work with files from the DP1/2 Merrill cameras? And if not, is Adobe developing plugins for these cameras?
