May 29, 2013I have AutoCAD 2013 and often "paste special" excel files that automatically update when the excel file changes.The problem I'm running into is I work with a person who has uses an older version of CAD 2004, so I always save to the older format for him.
When I etransmit, I be sure to add the excel file, but when he opens the dwg, only the outline of the excel appears in his dwg, no content.

Apr 5, 2012I am running AutoCAD 2000 ( I know it's older than most users out there... but good enough for me) and have received 3 dwg files (floor plans) that were exported from VectorWorks (newer version) yesterday. My issue is that these files have been exported to a newer format than my ACAD2000 is able to open and I really need to be able to get at these to be able to work on them.
Willing to open these 3 floor plans in ACAD2012 and save them as an ACAD2000 file format...

I am curious if it is possible to link the excel file to the Illustrator data sets, so that when I alter something within the excel sheet, the data sets automatically change. Is this possible? Sep 6, 2013I am having troubles making a drawing available to an external consultant. My drawing has 12 XREF files so I created an ETRANSMIT (.zip) file and sent it to him with all the drawings. He extracted the .zip into a folder and is able to view the 12 various referenced drawings as well as the layers pertaining to drawing I sent to him but can not see the referenced in drawings in this file.
He keeps getting this error: "One or more referenced files could not be located or read. Number of missing referenced files: 12".

Aug 9, 2012I have received a drawing from a designer, as I often do, but cannot locate the drawing in the model due to unresolved x refs? I have seen this many times on previous drawings but just ignored and continued but on this occassion I cannot find the drawing once I continue!
When I open the drawing I get the message: One or more referenced files have not been located or read. What do you want to do?
Update location of ref files
Ignore and continue.
I understand that the drawing is there somewhere as the preview pane on the open dialogue box shows the model outline but when I open it after going beyond the above step there is no model and only the 0 layer.

We use copy / paste special ( linked ) command to brought excel tables to the DWG files. OLE OBJECT command has worst result about linking excel sheets. How do we control ( link option) in this stution as linked versus unlinked?

Step 1 : In our IDW files, we copy/paste as embedded OLE Objects (no link). And save the IDW files in our local workspace.
Step 2 : we check-in this IDW Files.
Step 3 : We check-out this IDW files and make modifications in the embedded Excel File, save the excel file and then save the IDW file.
Step 4 : we check-in the idw file.
Step 5 : the same user or anther one check-out the idw file, open the excel embedded file : the modifications have not been saved.
The excel file is the same that at step 2.

- I want the file to update in CAD when we change the excel file (or prompt to)
- I want the inserted excel file to take on the formatting of my table style (text style, size, etc. )
- I don't want the table to be editable in CAD.
