AutoCad :: Read Only Files Conversion
Dec 20, 2011I've been given a dwg file to work with but it's read only so I can't save my work! How can I solve this? Is it possible to convert the file so I can save it?

Jun 26, 2012I'm running into a file conversion issue at work. I use Inventor 2008 and i need to have my assembly miodels analyzed by stress engineering via Pro/E Wildfire.
I've tried converting the assembly file to .iges and .step. However, the assemblies are jumbled in the conversion. All the parts are there, but the constraints are not. In the past, the assemblies have been small enough that the stress engineer was able to reassemble the parts in Pro/E. This current project, however, is much to large to do so.Â
If I were to purchase Inventor 2013, could I save the files with the Pro/E native file extensions directly?
AutoCAD 2010 :: DWG Files Can't Be Read
Apr 5, 2012I am running AutoCAD 2000 ( I know it's older than most users out there... but good enough for me) and have received 3 dwg files (floor plans) that were exported from VectorWorks (newer version) yesterday. My issue is that these files have been exported to a newer format than my ACAD2000 is able to open and I really need to be able to get at these to be able to work on them.
Willing to open these 3 floor plans in ACAD2012Â and save them as an ACAD2000 file format...

AutoCad :: One Or More Referenced Files Could Not Be Located Or Read
Sep 6, 2013I am having troubles making a drawing available to an external consultant. My drawing has 12 XREF files so I created an ETRANSMIT (.zip) file and sent it to him with all the drawings. He extracted the .zip into a folder and is able to view the 12 various referenced drawings as well as the layers pertaining to drawing I sent to him but can not see the referenced in drawings in this file.
He keeps getting this error: "One or more referenced files could not be located or read. Number of missing referenced files: 12".

Aug 9, 2012I have received a drawing from a designer, as I often do, but cannot locate the drawing in the model due to unresolved x refs? I have seen this many times on previous drawings but just ignored and continued but on this occassion I cannot find the drawing once I continue!
When I open the drawing I get the message: One or more referenced files have not been located or read. What do you want to do?
Update location of ref files
Ignore and continue.
I understand that the drawing is there somewhere as the preview pane on the open dialogue box shows the model outline but when I open it after going beyond the above step there is no model and only the 0 layer.
GIMP :: TGA To BMP Conversion (lot Of Files)
Jul 29, 2011I have 32bit TGA images files and want to convert them into 32bit BMP, preserving the alpha channel (very important).
I have about 2000 files I need to convert. Doing it manually using gimp, I just open the image, save as and change the extension to bmp. I leave every other setting to default.

Jun 3, 2009I recently upgraded Photoshop from CS2 to CS4 (11.0.1). If I use CS4 to save a large multi-layered Photoshop .psd file as .tif (Layer/Flatten image/Discard hidden layers), (File/Save as .tif, LZW, Interleaved, IBM PC) the resultant .tif file cannot be read by many other programs. File viewers (Faststone, MS Paint, QT Picture Viewer, Windows Photo Gallery) either fail to display the images, display the images incorrectly, or display a black screen. Neat Image fails to open the files due to incorrect bit depth.  (Faststone shows the bit depth as 40 bits). PTLens fails to open the files with the dialog "Only RBG images are supported". This has become a significant problem, since I routinely distribute images to others as .tif files. Similar Photoshop CS2 saved .tif files open with all the above viewers/programs with no problems. (no longer have CS2 installed)
