Photoshop :: Color Space Changed
Dec 14, 2012
I've set up a customized color space, named it and saved it. The one pref I always change is that I work in Adobe 1998. So I'll be working in PS and then see that when I go to save an image, the box checked at the bottom of the Open/Save dialog is sRGB. I go the the color space dialog and low and behold it says North American General Purpose. How did it get switched?

When I export RAW files, specifying that I want the output to be in sRGB color space the resulting files have the Adobe RGB color space. The same is true if I specify I want them in ProPhoto. Is this a bug? I have done it successfully in other versions of Lightroom, but not in 4.3.

I am working on an assembly file with some different color components, the color of each component is set to AS MATERIEL. But suddenly the assembly color was changed to one color only, which is the same color as one of the component. I clicked each part, the color is still set to AS MATERIAL. I even can not undo it to change the color back.
And from now on, any part was placed to this assembly is changed to assembly one color. Inventor 2012 under Win 7 system.

color picker has stopped giving me the slider with the full range of colors, and is instead just allowing me to peruse a few colors at a time. I can still access the full spectrum, but have been using PS for 8 years with the same setup. I'm using PS 7.

I have just opened up Photoshop CS2 and the default layer background colour has changed!! How I do not know. It seems the white colour has disappeared and been replaced by a cream colour. Even if I select #FFFFFF for white, it stil only gives the cream options. Even clicking the little black and white squares in the tools window, just corrects to this cream colour.

I'm currently working on a vector in the trial version of Photoshop CS6 that I acquired this Friday(?), and I'm running into a troublesome dilemma every time I re-open the file to work on at a later date. I find that some layers -- not all, but maybe five or six -- have changed their color to whichever color is in my palette, or whatever was in my palette the last time I opened Photoshop.
Is there a setting I'm missing, or is this a current glitch in this version of CS6? And in case you're wondering, yes, I have tried saving with all shape layers locked before I close; it made no difference.

For some reason, my colour picker appears to have changed into a format that I do not necessarily get on with.
Any ideas how to get it back to normal?

I have a drawing of my car that is purple and would like the color to be changed back to green the same color as my car. (Red, Yellow and Blue would be cool too. Just change the Blue bumpers/bars to Black).

I've noticed that if I convert the same image to multiple color spaces and apply a 3D LUT with the new Color Lookup adjustment, the result is noticeably different. From experimenting, it seems that the lookup tables operate on whatever RGB value is given to them no matter what color space.
Is there a certain color space these were optimized for? For instance, would a certain color space give me a more authentic 2-strip look than another because of the space they were sampled in? And if I create my own 3D LUTs, would I have to create a separate one for each color space in order to get a consistent look in all spaces?

I've just got a new monitor and i have downloaded an ICC profile to use as i don't have calibration hardware yet. I've loaded it in Windows using color management. My question now is what color 'working space' i should set in Photoshop.
I must say that learning about color has been a steep learning curve for me so I have tried to avoid it as much as i can!!! If a total novice guide on color has been covered in another thread just point me there!

I accidently changed the color of the background outside of my docked image from grey to black and can not figure out how to reset it to the default grey. The workspace dock color is grey until I dock an image and then the color surrounding my image changes to black. This is occuring in the Full Edit Mode.

I recently decided to use LR to catalog all my images (instead of Bridge). I love that PNG is now supported. Ran into one problem...all the snowflake and white frame images are viewed as a white rectangle due to the background white. I know Preview and other "viewers" don't have this issue. ACDSee has a setting to change the background. Can I do this in LR5? If not, is there a link where I can submit for a product enhancement to the Product Management team for a future release of LR?

Corel SP1. I now have toolbars I can see clearly, but the black background makes it impossible to tell if an image has a thin black perimeter border. Last release I could drag the window to size it larger than the image and it was easy to see. The attachment shows the trouble and I can't find where or how to change just the background color of the work surface without changing the color of the workspace that now works best for me.

when to use my coreldraw x4 today and all my colors have changed from a nice palette of distinct colors
To the same palette but it seems that the colors have no definition . e.g. all the dark navy blues and deep dark clarets . deep heritage greens all show up as one generic black with
No distinction between the colors when placed next to each other . all just show as black . Even when i export as a JPEG for e.g. they all still show as black .
only thing i can think of is that my computer upgraded over weekend . automatic updates. I spent a lot of time selecting colors for my jobs i have currently going . A range of entertainment posters with a carnival theme and old school heritage colors.

I am using 3ds Max 2012 to create some simple freeway directional signs for my experiment. I succeeded to make a panel but when I export it, the color has changed for some unknown reason. It looks like an additional white layer applied on the surface (In the yellow box in the attached pic).
Any suspicious check options I can try?? I really need to do this right..

I'm exporting Tiff Prophoto files from Lightroom into PSPX4 for further processing. The images are 1 to 2 stops under exposed when compared to Lightroom's image.I have selected PSPX4 color profile to match LR export color space.
I have tried exporting the Tiffs as sRGB and adode1998 and still the images are under exposed. I have little knowledge about color management and have searched around the web for possible answers, but no luck.

We hit a weird snag. All our text used to be 100% black (c=0 m=0 y=0 & k=100) On opening files the black is now a mixture of CMYK.We changed default color profiles last week. Could this effect all files? f so - what are the original clr setting for Coreldraw X5 or how can we reset them?

I have few text labels and lines in a drawing that supposed to have black color.
However, color at some point changed to grey.
Color- by layer, transparency- by layer, viewstyle- 2D Wireframe...
The thing is if I double click on a text it turns to black but after regenall it turns to grey again!
Already did restart and everything. Looks like there is maybe some variable for color control, I don't know.

Document colors in Corel Draw X3 have changed. Example: dark green is now black on my designed object; Teal is now light green.
I thought it might be color management had switched somehow but all management settings do not make a change as they did before or at all. Basically I think the problem lies in the color management. I re-installed the program but the problem remains. Color management does not affect color appearances as they used too before.I run windows 7 and have had it for a couple of years with no problems.

my 20d is set to sRGB. My woring space in photoshop is set to sRGB. When I take a photo and bring it in, the exif just say "RGB" - not sRGB and not Adobe. So I'm no sure what "RGB" is. But anyway, I'm trying to avoid having to "Image/Mode/Convert to sRGB" and no matter what I do, unless I MANUALLY do that option from the menu, my images always look crummy grey.
Ok so I thought, "I'll create a batch process" so I created an action with a file/open/image/mode/convert and selected sRGB, did a close on the file, stopped the action. I tried applying it to each image in a directory. They STILL came out grey. But when I manually selected the option, they looked great.
What's going on here? I don't want to have to manually convert each image like that. Why can't I seem to get my photoshop environment to ONLY work with sRGB?

concept of color spaces and monitor profiles..
Lemme talk about the sypmtoms I often suffer.
A lot of the time, I wil create an image in photoshop (and in mind, all of the work that I do is 100% for the web) and somewhere in that image will be a nice blue color but when i export that image, it will be purple, not the blue that i had made.
Somehow, at this point, I think i have everything all goofed up between my monitor, adobe gamma and photoshops color profiles.
For instance, i was looking in a book of color and found this nice yellow tone (y30, 0 0 0) that looked wonderful on paper, similar to colors i see online.. I transalted that to #FFFAB2 in photoshop, looked right.. I then went to my web editor, made the BG of a table that color.. and it now appears to be a murky maize color, not the light grey/yellow at all i had aimed for.
the color spaces in photoshop and its relationship to adobe gamma and maybe some pointers on how to set this all up so that it fits the right bill? I know this is a terrbily vague question, but my understanding of this is also vague and i would love some blanks filled in. My monitor is a sony trinitron MultiScan E540, 21", 2 years old.

This is an InDesign/Photoshop error but the problem itself is coming from Photoshop.
I made a silhouette pic in Photoshop CS6 after rasterizing some layers and what I have is a black background with a white figure in the foreground. I could not convert it to a JPEG, but I opened it up in Bridge and I wanted to import it into InDesign, but then I got an error message that said:
"This file uses an unsupported color space. Only RGB, CMYK, L*a*b*, grayscale, indexed and bitmap formats are supported by the Photoshop filter"
I tried to fix it in Photoshop but there's no way to unlock the Background layer in order to edit it.
