GIMP :: Can Color Picker Shortcut In Brush Mode (ctrl) Be Changed?
Sep 23, 2012
When in brush mode, clicking "ctrl" switchs to color picker until yourelease. Is this shortcut editable? What if I want this to be set onAlt instead, for instance?
I could not find any shortcut which looks like it would do this in thekeyboard shortcuts list. Is there one? How to change this shortcut?
color picker has stopped giving me the slider with the full range of colors, and is instead just allowing me to peruse a few colors at a time. I can still access the full spectrum, but have been using PS for 8 years with the same setup. I'm using PS 7.
When using the brush tool what is the difference between using the brush in color mode on a normal layer vs using the brush in normal mode on a color mode layer?
I changed the mode of a RGB image to HSB color model then copy and paste hue channel as a layer to the original RGB image ...After changing the blend mode of the hue layer to the hue blend mode..I can't see my original RGB image.
I accidently changed the color of the background outside of my docked image from grey to black and can not figure out how to reset it to the default grey. The workspace dock color is grey until I dock an image and then the color surrounding my image changes to black. This is occuring in the Full Edit Mode.
I use The gimp alot at home , but at work they have photoshop (CS2) and something has been really bugging me, in gimp you can get a color picker window up, so that you have your image there and the round color picker thing, and you can dart over and click somewhere on it and get a new color, then go back to painting it's a really nice flow, but in photoshop the best I can find is the 'color swatch' thing which is not good enough (its to small and only really lets you do colors you have a;ready decided on), basically I want something like the photoshop color picker,
I went through the section in the tutorials about checking layer and other options, no joy. It worked from me when I first installed but quit. I completely uninstalled Gimp 2.8 ran c cleaner and insured that the folder no longer existed but it came up the way I had set it originally so must of been entries in Registry.
I was wondering if there is a shortcut for the brush size on gimp.
When I use photoshop with my tablet I can use my secondary of my pen button to quickly change size. But in gimp for mac it's a nightmare (secondary button doesn't acces brush settings) to change quickly brush sizes. Specially as a painter.
I have been looking for a way to toggle which brush is selected with a custom key but I cant seem to figure out how to do it. Perhaps even better would be to select specific tool presets with custom keys.
I should also note that I am aware of the shortcut action "Select Brush by Index", however it always selects the first brush. Is there a way to change the index number?
so under edit pref and input controllers. I edited the scroll button of the mouse to have zoom in and out. works like a charm. Now, i have seleted to edit the ctrl+scroll up and down features to change brush size. Problem is, it works great right after i have selected the brush and type of tool i want, but as soon as i paint on the image and then hit the ctrl button, it now displays the another tool and i think its the color picker. I try to also scroll the mouse wheel and nothin.
I cant seem to find the option that is controlling the color picker or whatever that tool is to come up when the i hit ctrl. I even searched for color picker under keyboard shortcuts.
I have recently upgarded from the 2.6 version to the 2.8, and I have serious issues with the colour picker. Every time I use the dropper to select the colour I want to use from a picture, it ALWAYS comes out as black, never as the colour I want to use (for touching up, etc).
In my Photoshop Elements 9 and Photoshop Elements 11, The shortcut key Ctrl+L for Level does not work. I press it, the Level does not show up. How may I fix it?
In the earlier versions of acad the "ctrl-w" toggled object snap tracking on or off, but in 2012 it is changed to Selection Cycling on or off. This is quite irritating, because I got used to toggle object snap tracking with it and still automatically use it for that purpose. But I tried my best in the user interface to find it and change it or even disable it. But can't seem to find it anywhere or change it for that matter.
In Photoshop 6.0, if I had the Move tool selected, I was able to make an outline with fouv squares appear around my image by pressing ctrl + t. I was then able to shrink the image, rotate it, etc., by grabbing the four squares that appeared around the image and moving them.
Ctrl + t no longer appears to work in CS6. Is there a new shortcut?
In past versions of Photoshop, when using the Clone Stamp, you could change the opacity by hitting the 1 through 0 keys. This shortcut still works with other brush tools - Brush, Spot Healing, etc. But now, when using it with the Clone Stamp it changes the Flow and not the Opacity.
That was one of my favorite effects in GIMP. Can do it just fine using Portable Gimp and 'use color from gradient'. But in GIMP 2.8.2 -- that's been taken away and we've been left with a confusing new Gradient system . Do NOT like it so far at all. Haven't figured out how to change the color of the sparks brush on it, let alone use it in any practical way.
Any way to be able to use this new version of the Gradient system and be able to change the color of the sparks brush?
After upgrading from CS6 beta to CS6 release this function stopped working (on OS X Lion). The only think that happens when I use both keys (Ctrl+Alt) and move the mouse is moving the whole application/cs6 windows.
how to change the numbers to the brush name in the brush preset picker?
When you hover over a brush in the picker you get the name of the brush. I think it would work better if the numbers were replaced with the name of the brush.
--Toolbox: The 2 columns of Tools on the left side of the Editor screen.
--Foreground Color & Background Color: The color filled squares at the bottom of the Toolbox.
--Color dialogue box: This is the pop-up that is labeled at the top with "Color". It shows 48 different color squares (6 rows by 8 columns); they are labeled "Basic colors:". Right below the "Basic colors:" array is another 16 empty squares (2 rows by 8 columns) to be filled with colors to be defined. There is a "Define Custom Colors>>" button when clicked opens up a color picker with HSB RGB stacked below the color field screen. See this link to the Microsoft "Color Dialogue Box", [URL]
--Adobe Color Picker: The interactive dialogue box with the color field screen to the left and the HSB RGB numbers stacked on the right side.

The problem:In PSE 10, when using the Eyedropper Tool or clicking on the Foreground Color or the Background Color, the Microsoft Microsoft "Color Dialogue Box" pops up instead of the "Adobe Color Picker" dialogue box. This started about a month ago. I use Windows 7.
I want the "Adobe Color Picker" to pop up (like it used to) inside PSE 10.
Today I encountered a weird problem with Lightroom. When I switch from Library to Develop to edit photos, immediately, the photo changes. I get strange blue highlights appearing in an area that is largely black, and red, where there is white. If I do a command Z (on a Mac), it just changes back to Library mode.
if you look at the image attached the colours on the right are what the color picker is displaying and if I use that hex code thats the colour the web page displays, but if i fill in any element the colours circled on the left are shown in photoshop.
Why is the color picker window showing a different color to the whats displayed?
