Photoshop :: Change Layer Size?
Mar 31, 2012
I am using Photoshop CS3 extended 10.0.1 on Mac Intel. I have made a layer of one photo that I want to blend into another. Last time I did this in the distant past, there were handles in the selected layer that I wanted to blend and I could grab and drag those handles to change the size of that layer in relation to the other.
It was very simple. I have been at it for quite awhile now but those handles are not there and I can find no way to make them appear. I cannot change the size of one layer in relation to the other.

I have a layer of lables for a drawing that all have 1" text, and I want to change all the text to 1.5", without having to scale them individually. There must be some way to select the layer and do a global adjustment of the text font?
I'm surprised I'm not finding this in the menu's, etc.Since I need each text to scale properly from it's own location, I cannot simply scale everything from one base point.

Is it possible to automate the following: I have a directory of about 50 jpg files. With each file I would like to:
- make the image square, by increasing the canvas size of the least dimension. ie if the width is less than the height, increase the width to the value of the height, or conversely if the height is less than the width
- add a transparency layer
- save to xcf

The feature where you can quickly change a brush size/ diameter by pressing Alt + hold right click (for Windows) (In Mac, control + alt + left click) is neat but is there any way to change that shortcut to a different combination? I can't find it in the shortcuts list.

I create a text box and paste in the info into it. Now I want to resize the box to fit the space available but the handles end up changing the font size. I need the software to change the auto line feeds as the box's size is changed.

I want to know if I have understand this correctly or not: layer previous undos the last change in layer related command. Then If my last action is on layer, unod command will do the same. layer previous advantage is when you want to perform an undo which is not your last action.

I am facing a problem of adjusting layer size. I created a new document and I used a move tool to bring a movie poster to my document. Unfortunately, the picture is too large and I press The CTRL and+ buttons to adjust the size of this movie layer. But the result is that all the document (the background) is going to be small. How can I adjust only the size of the movie layer?

I have a ton of seamless images I want to make most into tile in this or that project but I don't want to make them all into .pat files because I hate hunting up .pat files plus if I am in the middle of a project with 25 layers. I want to simple pull in the image I want and use it without having to close everything to make a pat file then reopen the project I am on and have to hunt down my pat file to load it to use.
Now I have moved on to using 3D > New Title Painting which works great on a simple layer I need to turn a seamless tile into a pattern for that one project. However I am having one problem. Say I am working on a project where all the layers must be 2500 x 2500 pixels (for example) and I pull in an images onto one of the layers. Can I do one of the two:
Can I set photoshop cs5 to let me have different size layers in one project so the title paint can see image size it wants?
Can I set the title painter to have it set my layer size?
The problem I have is when I pull in a seamles image into a layer then make it a smart shape so I can resize it, make it smaller, then use title painter it makes spaces between the tiles.

I have a black/white linedrawing, TIFF, where I needed to replace som texts. I saved it as PSD, lassoed the texts, erased them and inserted the new texts in about 20 different places.
The text size is only about 6 pt., and the whole drawing isn´t more than about 14 by 14 centimeters. In the PSD file all the changes now appear in separate layers (with the background drawing at the bottom, see inserted .png) one for each erased bit of text, whereas I thought it would be convenient to have all in one layer.
How does this influence the filesize, and how do I combine all new texts in one layer, if that takes up less space? Layer 3-5 doesn´t seem to serve any purpose, how does one see what´s actually in a layer? I also need to save the file as EPS, and doing so the filesize goes from 3,4Mb in PSD to 45Mb in EPS. What are the possibilities of minimizing this EPS-file?

I have a corrupt version or if there's a setting I'm not aware of. When I try to change the size of my canvas on screen (zoom in or out) but don't want to take the time to select the magnifying glass tool, I typically just type a percentage in the small percentage box lower left corner of my canvas.Sometimes this works fine. Sometimes it doesn't and it actually changes the opacity of whatever layer I'm on instead?? I don't want it to serve this function. I can change opacity in my layers pallette. How can I turn this function off?

I'm automating a custom watermark action for a series of photos (1000's) the orignals vary in size so thats my first hurdle to accomodate, the final water mark will comprise of a white stroke offset say -5 mm(but again ideally relative to each images size) and then placing a PDF logo at 20% opacity and placed centrally.
The problem I have is that I want the logo to be at the same scale throughout the sets of images, ideally the stroke too.So my question is can this be achieved in PS, scaling relative to document because all I can seem to do is specify a size or percentage.
A work around I considered is basing the final image size on a set width or height and then using a standard size for the logo and stroke just thought I'd try the hard way first.

I am trying to create an action for watermarking. However, I would like to be able to size my logo to be a specific % of the entire canvas size, i.e. 20% width to be a part of my action so that the logo is always proportional to the image size.

How do you scale a layer proportional to the image size?
I want to scale a layer so that it's 10% of the width of the full image. It's going to be part of an action, so I can't just do the math, and do it manually.

I've got image 50mb. I put one adjustment later levels on. My hardrive says that file is now 95 mb.
I don't get it.
Isn't the whole point of adjustment layers is that unlike duping the bg layer you save space on your hardrive.
