The feature where you can quickly change a brush size/ diameter by pressing Alt + hold right click (for Windows) (In Mac, control + alt + left click) is neat but is there any way to change that shortcut to a different combination? I can't find it in the shortcuts list.

It seems that, in CS6 Photoshop, I could RIGHT CLICK, and a small panel would drop down at cursor location, allowing me to change size, hardness, and roundness of the brush.
I have recently updated to 13.0.1. The technique described above no longer works, but I can't be sure that this happened after the update. I may, as often, have screwed up a preference checkbox.
After upgrading from CS6 beta to CS6 release this function stopped working (on OS X Lion). The only think that happens when I use both keys (Ctrl+Alt) and move the mouse is moving the whole application/cs6 windows.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI have my preferences set up for my cursor to show as brush size, but suddenly my brush shows up as a tiny dot no matter what size I change it to (I've gone all the way up to 5000 pixels with no effect when using the brush, healing brush, and clone tools). My image is 1402x996 pixels at 200ppi. I've tried zooming in with no effect. I'm probably missing something obvious, but I can't think what.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIn CS 3 suddenly i cant change the size of my brushes anymore. Well i can from very tiny -when you only see a cross- to about 45 pixels (with a default brush) when i use the slider it can show 2500 pixels but its still the 45 pixels from before. I dont understand, everything worked fine, i was working already abour 45 minutes without any problems, and suddely this happens....can anyone tell me what could be wrong or what to do about this?

View 2 Replies View Relatedsetup PS so that the scroll wheel on your mouse changes the brush size? I use Aperture and this functionality is built in and I find it tremendously useful. When I export an image to PS I find it really annoying to have to reach up to the brackets to make that adjustment.

Well, so far I"m zero for four in trying to get LR to let me do trivial things the way I'd like, but let's give it yet another try........
I ALREADY KNOW you can use the "[" and "]" to change the size of the spot removal circle. BUT, I'm trying to get LR to work as much like Photoshop as possible 'cause the inconsistencies on small things is a surprisingly large hit to productivity.....
In PS I can change the size of the clone or heal using Alt and the mouse. Change both size AND opacity.

when I use the shortcut key to increase my brush size, from 1 to 10, it increase at a 1 rate per click.
but hen I hit 10, next one is 20px. how can I change this behavior to go to 11?

In Photoshop 5, if I turn on the pressure sensitivity while using the Clone tool (and perhaps other tools as well...) I have to bear down very hard to make the pixels being cloned appear in the entire circle [brush] specified. The behavior I want is, instead, to be able to CHOOSE 1. pressure changes size of the flow within the brush [size]setting or 2. the full brush size places cloned pixels on the image at a rate of flow directly controlled by the pressure I exert on the pen nib.
There are some kinds of images that need to go back and forth easily between the two choices. Behavior now is just #1.
On digital tutors i learned that the blob brush size can be changed interactively. But since i use a mac in combination with a cintiq and a swiss german keyboard i cannot use the bracket keys.
They also don't work when i assign the us keyboard settings. How can the brush size of the blob brush be changed interactively?
I was trying painting with gimp and there is a shortcut in gimp to change the size of the brush/opacity my moving the stylus like you can on photoshop or sketchbook pro.

Using the local adjustment brush i can change the size of the brush using the [ and ] brackets However.. when i make a small error and want to erase brushed-area by using the ALT key then the brush size seems to be fixed to one size ?

My laptop only has a touchpad with a little scroll area on the side, but I can't think of a good reason why this should be any different from a scroll wheel on a real mouse. Unfortunately, though, following the documentation doesn't work.
In fact, as far as I can tell, the input controllers dialog does nothing at all on my system--I've looked at the settings for the all of the 'active controllers,' and none of the current settings there match with the actual behavior of Gimp as far as I can tell. It also worries me that the controller names are so generic--they're listed as 'Main Keyboard' and 'Main Mouse Wheel' rather than mentioning a synaptics touchpad, and my tablet doesn't even seem to be listed.
I am using Gimp 2.6.11 on Ubuntu.
I'm using Photoshop CS on Leopard (Mac) with a standard Apple keyboard (QWERTZ, suisse-german). However I cannot use the Brush Size shortcuts [] or Shift+[]. I pressed every single key on my keyboard but I can't find the keys.
I guess the shortcuts are not working on Mac ?!

shortcut that i can not use since two days. To redim the brush size it is possible to use the shortcut ALT + right click. This is very useful when doing painting or drawing on Photoshop. The problem is that i no longer have the possibility to use this shortcut, and i do not know why. My keyboard is correctly set up and i even reset Photoshop, but still nothing.

When I use photoshop with my tablet I can use my secondary of my pen button to quickly change size. But in gimp for mac it's a nightmare (secondary button doesn't acces brush settings) to change quickly brush sizes. Specially as a painter.

In Photoshop 6, adjusting brush parameters including hardness was easy, but in Photoshop 7, I can't seem to find where these settings are. I have been through the brush palette several times and have found everything BUT basic brush parameters such as hardness and angle. I cannot imaging where they might have moved this or even if they are still accessable.

The Arrow head size didn't change corresponding to the scale, i included the pic below, the top picture, the arrow head was set at .18" but was really small when i plot out, so i wanted to make it bigger, when i changed to .50" or .75" or even 1" the arrow head became even smaller than .18". I can't use the brush tool on brushes other than the round brushes because the hardness option is grayed out. I get the no go error symbol.

Is there a comparable way to tweak brush HARDNESS on a PC as you can on a Mac? I have tried additionally holding down the SHIFT key ala the square brackets alternative method for step-changing hardness, and have also tried all combinations of moderator keys to no avail.
View 6 Replies View RelatedMy platform is WIN 8-64 on a Dell XPS8500 with AMD Radeon HD 7570 graphics card and like many others I have the "flicker" problem but the work-around Advance setting of BASIC works for me. However, I now notice that I cannot set the brush hardness level. I installed the CS6-32 version concurrently and the brush works fine in that version. In CS6-64 the brush set on black will not replace white and when set on black it makes only a gray streak no matter what the hardness setting is.

When I change the settings for 1 brush... say I add some jitter to a smooth brush - then suddenly the other brushes get the same jitter applied to them.
How can I set the brushes so that each brush has a different setting that doesn't change when I change any other brush settings?
p.s. I also don't get why Adobe has you lock a brush by UNlocking it? Seems to me it should be the other way around?
I'm trying to figure out how you can adjust the exact hardness of a brush. I see that you can select a brush with a hard edge, or a fuzzy edge, but what if I'd like some middle ground?
While I'm at it, I may as well ask another question as well. I'm used to Jasc Paint Shop Pro 8, and on there you could adjust the "step" of a brush. Is there a way to do that on GIMP?
Also, is there a shape tool where you can create spheres or squares?
