View 3 Replieshow do you make a simple border around text? I checked out the tutorial in the Teamphotoshop site, however I couldn't find "Effects" under "Layer". I have Photoshop 6 (soon gonna be getting Photoshop CS), is that the problem?
I tried to just highlight the text, expand it (or make a border, either one), and use the paintbucket tool to fill it the expanded/border area. However, it leaves off a slightly gritty or faded border.
I also tried by going into the layers, right click on text layer>blending properties>outer glow. But it still leaves a faded border.
When I drag out a circle, or use the node to curve the corners of a rectangle, the line isn't smooth. It looks like it's slightly jagged.
I'm trying to create a drawing which features the rounded edge of a playing card, with no luck. It simply doesn't look good.
I created a simple symbol from a circle with a cross inside (two rectangles). The symbol has two states labelled "normal" and "over" in which background colors change : on mousover and mouseout on the circle, sym.stop("over"); and sym.stop("normal"); respectively.
The problem : "over" when the cursor hovers over the circle, but back to "normal" when it hovers over the cross. The API suggests to use mouseenter and mouseleave to avoid child elements of the symbol interrupt the mouse event. I tried it, but the behavior is the same.
Is there any JavaScript solution (I'm a beginner, coming from AS3), or should I bypass with two flattened graphics "normal" and "over" ?
I have a silouette which is a human figure on a white background (the figure is black).
Im wanting to change it so that the background is blue (done that part).
I want the silouette to be grey with a thin white border around it?! So far i have managed to change the silouette to grey, but im not sure how to add a border round it, without doing it by hand, pixel by pixel!
How do I put a border using photoshop? I know...thats quite a simple task, however, I have yet to figure it out..
View 1 Replies View RelatedLet's suppose I find a photo or an image (illustration or cartoon or something) that I would like to use in my project. I want to trace it and therefore, have an outline of the image I want.
How do I do this using an action or plugin or something.
I know I can do this manually using the pen tool. But are there other ways?
1. Are there other ways to doing this manually?
2. Are there any actions or plugins to do this?
If I use an action, the outlines might be too detailed for what I need.
3. How do I get a simpler outline? Would it be possible for me to choose that?
Im trying to vector a face.. I have traced the face exactly and filled it with a base colour.. now im going to layer the skin.. however.. i dont want to retrace the outlines of the face every time a layer is close to the border.. I want to be able to exceed the face outline with that layer.. and then use the base colour layer (that is exactly traced) to clip that layer so it has the same outline as the traced base layer.. that way I dont have to trace my layers every time I get close to the edge..

View 6 Replies View Relatedwe use Corel Draw but different versions. Some of us use the X4, some X3 and some even 12 or 11. We have huge problem with the time interval past while importing even a single simple outline drawing. We usually wait from 4 - 7 minutes.
My question is what could be the problem? Different versions of Corel Draw?, bed LAN connection?, or something else?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to use the function to outline a border to text with the function "Path to text" but no matter how I try the path will only use 16-19 letters in one row.
I have read several guides on how to do this and no one mention anything about this issue. As long as I have 16 letters on one line it works, but I have more it will just skip them.
I write the text:
12345678901234567890
Then I click an choose "path to text", but when I do it will only create a path of 1234567890123456 and skip the rest. If I write text on several rows it will use up to 16 letter on each row.
Is there an limit to "Path to text" .
In the link below you will find a jpeg of a sew on patch, then a pdf of just the logo. I am wanting to learn how to create the outline look of the patch around the group of objects that form the logo. I have tried the appearance, outline trick but for thsi project it does not even come close. [URL]

I am struggling to find the best way to achieve this in Photoshop?
All I want to do is put a couple of arrows in an illustration! I select custom shapes, then arrows, then I mouse-drag out the arrow, and, of course, they disappear when saved. So...now realizing that this is a path, I duplicate my first layer and place the arrows on the new layer. then I flatten. Still, arrows disappear.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI would like to make a thick black outline around the shape of an image. To illustrate, when you click the magic wand on a solid background Photoshop finds the shape of the object and separates it from the background. View 9 Replies View RelatedSo I keep seeing this method of design on sites like dribbble or behance but I don't know how to do it!
Here's an example: Basically a bunch of circles are used to create this awesome shape and design. I have a general idea on how to use the pathfinder tool and I have used it a lot in the past, but how do you snap circles together with smart guides? It seems that the smart guides only snap based on 90 or 45 angles and don't snap edges of objects together unless there are two anchors.
Here's an example: I want to use the curves from 2 circle shapes to make a complex path. But I can't get the two paths to snap together
Ultimately to create something like the raindrop image above. I want to use the perfect curves on circles to create more complex shapes but since the paths do not snap together, I'm just eyeballing it to be close enough to do something with the pathfinder tool.
I drew an image and now want to edit it in photoshop cs3 or illustrator, I want make what ever line that suppose to be vertical or horizontal straight, and curvy line even. Overall I want to make my image outline straight and even, I drew it freehand so it is hard to make a perfect straight and even line.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to make a logo. Circular logo with an inner ring maybe 4 px wide and 15 px inside the rim of the outer circle.
Basically I want a blue circle with a yellow inside ring. What's the best way of doing this? The only thing i can think of is: creating a blue circle marquee, and then another (trying to estimate a new circle size and change the color) that is yellow, and then making another smaller blue circle inside the new one. That's just ugly.
I tried the edit/stroke but that just gave me a stroke around the outer circle; it didn't put a ring inside the circle 15 px down.
Also I tried to contract the original circle by selecting it, then Modify/contract. That's got me a selected ring, inside the circle. Now how in the world do I make that little ring yellow? It just remains selected and I can't seem to find a way to color it.
how to make the circles on my parameter locations smaller? What controls this feature?
