Photoshop :: Can't Zoom To Actual Pixels
Dec 11, 2012
I've just lost my ability to "Actual Pixels", by shortcut or button during the zoom tab. I just noticed this after updating to 13.0.2(Mac). Is there some option somewhere I have enabled by mistake that is doing this?

Is there any way (in PS 7) to force imported images to automatically maximize and then enlarge to actual pixel size? When I'm retouching dozens or hundereds of images it gets time consuming and mundane having to manually maximize then ctrl+alt+0 to view as 'actual pixels'. I've read the manual cover to cover and didn't find anything (or I missed it).

I have been using CS6 for a while now and one problem that I keep encountering is the auto-selection of shape layers. Trying to auto-select a layer that's within 10 pixels of a shape layer is impossible without having to zoom in. This is a little hard to explain without images... Cue image...
If you try to recreate the above image, where the black 20x20px rectangle is a shape and the red 38x38px rounded rectangle is rasterized pixels, you will see that auto-selecting the red rounded rectangle is impossible at 100%.
Is this intentional and just an issue for me? Selecting pixel layers in CS5 was never this annoying. It seems that shape layers have an invisible 10px area around them stopping you from selecting anything below them. This is so frustrating with pixel UI work.

If I am constantly making frames in photoshop for use in the video world (ie. They will be on TV) the pixels need to be rectangular (or 4x3) in aspect and not square.
I know in programs like After Effects and Combustion you can set when saving an image whether or not it is square or rectangular pixels.
How do I do this in Photoshop if it can be done?

2 days on GIMP. I need to adjust the clone tool so it's 1080 pixels vertical and about 20 pixels wide. I googled and searched, but I can't seem to find the right phrasing.

I have several layers in an image, and I need to align them precisely. The ordinary layer shift ("move pixels") by multiples of pixels is not sufficient. Is there a tool or plugin for PDN that allows sub-pixel shifts (i.e. moves by fractions of pixel)? And rotations by very small angles?

I use Photoshop CS2 to create Designs for webpages. These designs have pixel-exact elements, e.g. a 1-pixel-line from top to bottom.
Now when I zoom in (>100, then I have sort of anti-alias, so that the 1-pixel-line isn't only one blue anymore, but it has different blue tones. I guess for photo manipulations etc. this anti-aliasing zoom is great, but for webdesign it sucks because I don't know if only the zoom make the line "corrupt" or if it really is corrupt.
Is there a way to change this zoom?

The AutoCAD doesn’t show the “intersect osnap” at certain zoom!
The “intersection osnap” between a “hatched rectangle” and a “DASHDOT2” line appears and disappears depending on the amount of zoom!
As I zoom out the “intersection osnap” appears but when I zoom in, it disappears
Why the "intersection Osnap" should disappear as I zoom in?

I am working on getting some settings done, moving from 2008 to 2012. How do you set the Middle Mouse Button (wheel) to either Zoom All or Zoom Extents when you double click it? I thought it was set in the Main CUI file.

My keyboard has a zoom key with + and - selections. I use to use this key in drawings to zoom in and out when in the AutoCAD application when we had Windows XP. Now that I have Windows 7 I can't do this. I can't find out how to assign this key on the Microsoft Keyboard interactive software either. I have the other keys assigned as desired.
Can I still use my keyboard zoom key to zoom in and out in drawings? If so, how do I set this up in AutoCAD, or do I need to do this through a Microsoft keyboard application?

I can't find in new max (2013) settings for zoom. I want to set Zoom about mouse pointer and adjust a bit zoom speed (now it is too much for one mouse wheel step).
I can't find zoom settings in 3ds max 2013. Where they are? I think that in previous max it was in Customize -> Viewports tab. But now it is not there.

I tried searching the forums for this topic but the search thing didn't seem to work.
A friend of mine installed Photoshop CS for me (an upgrade from 7.0) and for some reason I can't use CTRL + and CTRL - to zoom in and out, I have to use the mouse with the zoom tool which slows me down quite a bit over the course of 20 or so photo edits.
Can anyone shed some light on this? I checked Keyboard shortcuts in the preferences menu and they were correct. I've made no other changes to the program.

I have created a document in photoshop sized 8.5x11, the same size as my printer paper, at 300dpi. I am using the ruler guidelines onscreen to make an image 6 3/4" wide, but it is printing out too small at 6".
I am not measuring onscreen by putting an actual ruler up against my screen, I am using the photoshop ruler (so I am sizing according to the 6 3/4" ruler in photoshop, even if it is 8" on my screen)
In the print settings, I uncheck "scale to fit media" and "center image".

When I am adjusting or filtering an image I get a preview box and the actual image changes behind the box to however I put the settings to, so I use it to see what its going to look like. But when I press "ok" it turns out completely different than it was in the previews. Why is this?

My text in Photoshop is jagged unless I zoom in at 100%. When I do that it's normal. Also when I save as a file on my computer it's normal. I don't see other people with this issue, they get normal text by default. I haven't changed any settings, everything is as it is when you first get the program.

how to copy and paste a portion of a document open in photoshop into another document that is open in photoshop?
i have never been able to figure this out despite trying to do it from time to time and i basically cannot figure out if this is dependent upon actual images size, resolution, the size that the various images are on the screen etcetera, etcetera.
i am not even sure what other questions to ask except that i guess i could avoid all of this if i could copy a section of an image and then paste it into another document in a way that would give me the ability to RESIZE the incoming paste.
i basically want to get a logo into another document in a way that i can size and orient it so it looks good graphically...

My image in photoshop has thin lines, but when I save it, the jpeg shows the image with very thick dark lines, looking not like the image in photoshop. Why does it do this? How can I stop PS from doing this to my image? I want the image to look as it does in Photoshop when I save it as a Jpeg.
This is in Photoshop CS4
As it should be (using the snipping tool (I can't use the snipping tool as my only option, because it will only capture the size as it is on the screen, not the actual dimensions in Photoshop)
Saved as a Jpeg; the lines are thicker, and now there is little variation in line weight.

I was watching a video about Photoshop and the pro broached the subject of how to set your PS preferences, so that you get a true representation of your documents print size. Seems this was a topic a while back and I'm not sure it was ever answered. Here is an explanation and the fix.
Seems that Adobe sets the default for screen resolution in Preferences/ Units and Rulers to 72ppi. Today's monitors are usually more than that, so when you tell PS to show you Print Size, it's going to show you something less than what it actually is. To fix this is actually pretty simple. Here's how.
1. Create a new document 9" x 9" @ 300ppi, use white for the background color.
2. In your zoom mode activate Print Size
3. Grab a tape measure and carefully measure what your seeing on the screen. If it is not 9x9, then your setting is not set properly in Preferences/Units and Rulers.
4. More than likely your measurement is smaller by a good bit. At this point, create a correction factor by dividing 9 by the actual measurement.
5. Then, in the Preferences as previously described, if 72ppi, multiply by the factor you just created and enter it exactly (not rounded) to the decimal point.
Now, when you ask PS to show Print Size it will show you the actual, not something less.

Love the CS5's 3d painting features but I'm running into a really frustrating issue:
When I select a value from the 3d object and try to paint with that value, it's showing up as a different value altogether (the image hopefully illustrates this much better than words).
Not sure if it's got something to do the the lights setup or something else.

I work with images of jewelry. I need to be able to make them actual size with out distorting the image. I have tried creating a canvas that is the size of the image I need, but cannot get the picture to fit perfectly in it with out distortion. Resizing the original does not work, because of course I have to constrain proportions.

I am working on an graphic email that is going to be sent out to different companies. Ok to my problem:
I got the image size down enough to be a decent email size. Problem is that I am working at 300dpi in order for the small text on the prints to be legible. Ok now I am using 8x10 inches as size but at 300 dpi is way bigger in pixels so when I insert it into the email the images is huge.
Ok what I am trying to do is:
I want the view size to remain at about 8x10 but I want the dpi to remain at 300 for printing quality

I often use the Crop Tool to get part of an image to print at actual size.
For example, Crop: Width 7cm @ Resolution 600 pixels/inch (same as my
printer), then select a known width of 7cm then crop and print.
I figure there must be a way without actually cropping the image, perhaps by selecting the known dimension.
