Photoshop :: CS6 Windows - Open Save As Dialog Box?
Mar 11, 2013
Why in Photoshop & Illustrator CS6 "Open" and "Save as" dialog box style is from Windows XP?
In AfterEffects, Audition and other is new dialog box style:
Can Adobe add in "Preferences" - option with checkbox for users Windows 7/8 who can use the new windows explorer with extended folder bar? That would be simplified and speeded up a lot of things.
I'm having a problem throught CS6 with the Open, Save, or Save As dialog boxes not opening for a period of time after clicking on the desired functions. It can take over a minute just to get the Open dialog box up to browse for a file. Eventually, the dialog boxes open, but during the time that it's trying to open, the program is unresponsive. It is happening with all of my CS6 programs. I have unistalled and reinstalled with no fix. The programs are updated.
Photoshop is unusable for me. I was running CS6 but it kept freezing when I tried to open a file. I uninstalled and installed CC -- same problem. I checked the preferences to see if there was a setting for an Adobe file dialog and it froze again.
I suspect it has something to do with Mountain Lion 10.8.4 but I don't have this problem in other Adobe apps. Ran Disk Utility, verified permissions, verified disk -- everything checks out. Not sure what to do.
Environment: CS6 (PS 13.0.1) Mac OS X 10.7.5. Plenty of hardware. (Generally starting with .CR2 RAW.)Recently (maybe since the 13.0.1 update??), I have been having problems with the open and save as dialog boxes.
First. The open file dialog always defaults to Enable: blank (i.e. no file types enabled). Each time I have to go to the bottom of the dropdown list and select "All readable documents" before I can open ANY type of file. I've searched in everyway I can think of looking for some method to have OPEN default to "all readable" but can't find anyway to do this. when whipping around at deadline having to stop each time and make this change is irritating. No other program has this difficulty (including Illustrator and InDesign). PS 5.5 did not exhibit this behavior on the same machine.
Second. When I save as and try to select any file format, say going from psd to tiff, the format dropdown list ALWAYS selects the format ABOVE the one I choose. Example: If I select JPEG, PS tries to save as .iff. If I pull the selection down to JPEG2000 it will then save as standard JPEG. Again just an irritant but, tiff (which I need for several other programs) is last on the list thus there is no way I can go one below it to get tiff format selected. It always comes out as png. Also note that the Format selection indicates the correct format - in the case of tiff the dialog box shows TIFF selected, but the program is appending .png. (Continuing the save as (without altering my selection) always results in the incorrect format no matter what the Format dialog says in the save as operation.) Again, no other program I work with (including several Adobe products) exhibits this behavior.
I have loaded about 10 pictures in the editor of elements 10. I want to save them to an sd card. When I try to do that it tries to save all of my pictures instead.
In AutoCad 2006, when I want to open a new or existing drawing or template, instead of regular dialog box I receive only a prompter dialog which is present in the command line also, asking me for the name of the drawing that I want to open; it is the case also when I want to save a drawing too. I already checked the "Options" under the "Open and Save" tab and everything looks to be in order. How can I resolve this bothering problem since I am able to perform the above tasks only accessing "Windows explorer"?
I used to be able to save as and browse to the file where I want to sane or open a file
Now I get a dialog box where I can only save to the default location or manually enter the path and file name
Same with opening a file - I go file open and it is gives a path to the last file I used. There is option to browse - how I get this back to the normal function of open/save by browsing?
I am just trying to save a PDF from my illustrator file. However, when I go to Save as, and select PDF, no dialog box opens to allow me to set how I want the file outputted. IF I just hit enter, the file does save.. its just like the Dialog box is hidden or not appearing. The reason I need the dialog box is because I need to add bleeds to the PDF and my default save doesn't do that.
I've been running dual monitors (22" and a 18") for a while, but I just upgraded to a larger second monitor (now both 22"). Before, I left AutoCAD running in the main monitor, but now I've switched it to run in the second monitor instead. Now AutoCAD will not remember the position or size of the Open and Save dialog boxes while it is in the second monitor. Sometimes it throws them back into the main monitor and other times they show up in the second but without the resize I did previously.
Every time that I open a new drawing and select the path, open file dialog appears empty and If I click "ok" button, then appears the following message:
I´m using Civil 3D 2014+hotfix1.
Autocad Civil 3D 2014 +SP1 Quad Core Intel i7 3770-cpu 3.40Ghz. ssd samsung 840 pro 512gb+ssd samsung 840 pro 256 gb+1tb hdd 32gb RAM 1600 Mhz. nVidia Quadro 2000. Win 7 Pro 64bit
I want to open a "Save File Dialog " with some default path.Like when user run that script I want to open a "Save As" dialog box with default path "/Volumes/<shared name>/<folder name>/.. ."I am using File.SaveDialog(prompt, filter);
but it doesn't open to the location by default that I want to open.
I have autocad civil 3d 2008 in my pc. From last 2 days I got a different problem i.e. when I am selecting open / save command from File menu graphical file select explorer is not opening just message in the command window . Previously I used to select files using graphical file explorer.
Is there any way to save/open files in Adobe products using the general Windows format, i.e. where you could copy & paste a folder location into your address bar. I work on multiple projects across a complex network and I have to manually navigate through all the folders each time, and I can't copy & paste a location like I could if I was browsing through Windows normally. Also you can't save favorite locations?
I just upgraded to photoshop cs4 from cs2, and I noticed that a feature which I really, really loved is now gone, and that is the Use Adobe Dialog option in the open/save/save as file browser.
I don't see any option for this anymore...was it taken out in CS4 or CS3? Or is there an option to enable it that I'm just missing?
I have two PC's side-by-side, running the same version of CS6. On one PC, I can see my Libraries from the "save as" and "open" dialogue boxes and on the other I have can't have have to dig down to find the folders I want to save to. I don't have any plug-ins installed, and I have not edited the registry.
When I open the file.psd to edit or file.jpg (Any file type) The program will appear the dialog and then When I click "OK" to close this dialog. After that, it will appear the dialog to close program.
I could not continue to work.I must close and reopen the program. (Do not open the file.)
It's a Q6700, 4GB, 2TB drives, Epson R2880 running Windows 7, 64-bit. CS4 is very peppy, runs great, opens, closes, edits, NO PROBLEM.
UNTIL you decide to print. Once you hit the print selection it takes a MINIMUM of 40 seconds for the CS4 print dialog to appear. If you then hit the "page setup" button, it'll be at LEAST another 30 seconds before that appears. Once they're up, you can navigate around and make changes, but once you hit the print button on the dialog it'll be another 10-15 seconds before it responds and if you specify "Print Preview" it'll be at least another 30 seconds before you get the preview. Once it hits the printer, it prints fine. There haven't been any software or hardware changes in weeks, except the weekly MS updates that get installed.
I've tried large images, and small images in case there was something CS4 was doing. This process is this slow when printing a 4x6 greeting card or a 12 x 18 photograph.
What's interesting is this is a new phenomenon... It worked FINE up until sometime last week. Then suddenly, slow....... Concurrently, the print dialog STOPPED DISPLAYING INK LEVELS. The status monitor still displays them, but the printer dialog no longer does.
I've unloaded the printer and cleaned off every file I could find that appeared to be associated with an Epson print driver. Went to Epson and got the latest, Windows 7, 64-bit set of drivers and status monitor and installed that. No difference. Also tried a new USB cable AND switched it to the other USB port on the printer and on the PC. Nothing's made any difference......
If necessary, I can have her re-install CS4, but is there anything that should be done before we start clobbering major applications, or ever worse, the operating system?
Windows Explorer set to open image files with PSE11, but when I double click on image in WE it launches PSE11, but I then need to click on Open tab in PSE11 to get it into work window. PSE10 did not have this problem
I am using Photoshop CS5 and when I save for the web, my saves are extremely contrasty. When I save normally they are fine. I have tried every setting I can find in the Save for Web dialog box.
I remember back in CS3 we had the option to use the Adobe dialog for Saving and Opening files. On CS4 I don't have this feature anymore. Was it included or do I need to change a setting?
Why my photoshop CS6 64 bit in windows 8 can't SAVE and SAVE AS any files?
it's ok for my Photoshop cs6 32bit,but there is not reaction when i use command file->save or file->save as ,also CTRL +S and SHIF +CTRL+S in Photoshop 64 bit
Is it possible to use modal dialog boxes with vb.net using COM libraries? I have two files one specifies the endpoint of a line in code the other ask for user input for the endpoints of the line.
The program that specifies the endpoints work fine. I can make it modal, modeless, and run it in process as a dll or out of process as an exe file. Although it wants to flash if any program is open hidden behind AutoCAD.The program I ask for user input will run fine out of process as an exe file but I get an error message “AutoCAD main window is invisible”
Imports Autodesk.AutoCAD.Interop.Common Imports Autodesk.AutoCAD.Interop Imports Autodesk.AutoCAD.Runtime Public Class myLINE Dim Acad = GetObject(, "AutoCAD.Application") Dim ThisDrawing As AcadDocument = Acad.ActiveDocument <CommandMethod("runlouver")> _ [code]....
I am working with and extension to AutoCAD Map 3D 2012 on Windows 32. When a dialog opens it sometimes immediately minimizes and must be restored via the Windows task bar. I have also noticed that the dynamic input command line is visible when the dialog disappears and is present even if the dialog does not disappear. I have shown this in the image below. This also occurs on Windows 7 64 bit, as well.
If I set the workstation to windows Basic Theme or turn off dynamic input, this does not occur.
This is happening intermittently, most often after flattening a multi-layer image converting to 8-bit then trying to save as a jpeg, the error occurs as various points during the "save as" dialog. When I installed a 3rd party plugin (correctly installed and up-to-date NIK collection) the error occurred more or less on every "save as". I'm running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. I've tried resetting prefs and I've removed the 3rd party plugins and I'm back to crashing about 30% of the times I use "save as"
When the error occurs It appears to have an event 1000 in the event log. I've copied the "system info" and one of the crash report texts below:
System info:
Adobe Photoshop Version: 14.0 (14.0 20130423.r.221 2013/04/23:23:00:00) x64 Operating System: Windows 7 64-bit Version: 6.1 Service Pack 1 System architecture: Intel CPU Family:6, Model:12, Stepping:2 with MMX, SSE Integer, SSE FP, SSE2, SSE3, SSE4.1, SSE4.2 [code]....
This is major irritation when you have to drill down through different servers/directories all the time when saving different files. The "recent" folder does an ok job but you still have to search through the contents to find the directory you need...and isn't always there.
I'm wondering why Adobe did away with the ability to setup favorites in this dialog box. What gives? Might have seemed trivial but it's important when in a production environment as seconds matter a great deal. Any clues or suggestions?
using ACAD LT 2012. If he opens a DWG file from a Sharepoint site, makes some changes to the drawing and then SAVES the file, his changes are NOT saved and there is no indication that they were not saved. Needless to say this is critical.
If I open Photoshop CS3 I am able to drag an image from a Windows Vista folder into the Photoshop window and the image opens in Photoshop.
If I go into the open Dialog Box within Photoshop and select an Image I cannot drag the image into the main Photoshop window I must click on the "open" button.
I have a photographer friend who says he use to be able to work this way and for some reason it no longer works. I suspect he is wrong.
Is this normal or is something not working correctly.
