I like in CS6 when I use the marquee to select, as I am dragging it is actively showing me the size I am selecting in pixels (what you can find in the info panel).Is there a way to have this in CS5.5? It is a lot easier than always opening the info panel.

For example when i want to select something i want to see the current size of marquee while i'm moving marquee around. It's really hard to select for example 153×44 with marquee when i have no idea how big current selection is. Hope you understand what i mean.
Also, is there any way to measure for example how many pixels is between two let's say bots. I know that you have ruler but that doesn't really. Basically similar to above with marquee size. When you draw a line, it shows how long this line is.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy work bought me a huge new Thunderbolt monitor yesterday, so I took advantage of the real estate and expanded my Layers palette to be very tall, and along with several other adjustments, saved this out as a custom workspace. Today though I am working only on a laptop offsite with no Thunderbolt and the bottom of the Layers palette is offscreen where I can't get to it. I know if I change workspaces to one of the Adobe presets it will give me a standard size Layers palette, but if possible I would like to work within my custom workspace and just change the height of the palette.

The last time I used PS was about two weeks (it's summer) and I had the marquee size set to 2.18x2.18 inches. I just changed it to 2.15x4.35 inches. When I click on the image, which is about 2.25x4.45 inches, it selects an area 2.18x2.18 inches. The dimensions in the boxes are 2.15 and 4.35 inches. Feather is 0 pixels.
When I use the marquee tool to draw a shape - circle/square etc I sometimes don't get the size exactly to my requirements. is there a way to fine tune the produced size? I'm assuming that there is some combination of keys that will allow me to make fine adjustments up or down to the size of the shape. How to do this without closing down and starting again and again until I get what I require?

On the desktop, everytime I draw a Rectangular Marquee, a very distracting black box with dimensions comes on at the lower right corner of the selection. This does not happen with CS6 on my laptop. But when I export the articles as HTML, the images for formulas become much larger than shown in PDF version. How can i keep the exported images to the same size as they are shown the PDF file? View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm refining some SVG files, imported into GIMP as paths. I added numerous guides on the images and drag anchors to the guides. All the paths consist of straight lines only. The problem is that on some anchors GIMP performs the "drag curve" operation instead of the "drag anchor". As a result, my straight lines become broken (curved).
The only solution I've found so far is to apply maximum zoom level, say 400%, and repeat the dragging in this resolution. This makes GIMP work properly, at least, I'm able to "drag anchor" as expected. But switching back and forth to the 400% zoom level is a bit annoying and inconvenient.
Is there a better way to "say" GIMP that "dragging anchor" is the "dragging anchor", not "dragging curve"?
When trying to place an image into a new document in photoshop elements 12, I select all-copy-paste the image (or even drag it) over to the new doc created. However, when I do this - the image does not paste in at the same size. It typically shrinks down in size.  Do I have to save the file, close out and then open the new doc and PLACE it in the document in order for it to keep size? There must be a better way to do this. Basically, how can I drag a photo that is 4x6 over to a new doc while keeping the size at 4x6.Â

I find it more convenient to be able to drag the image just about anywhere, and have it open as if i went File>Open

When I drag an image into Photoshop, it is TINY. It doesn't matter the resolution of the image. It could be the biggest image in the universe and it shows up so small to where I have to use Free Transform every single time. Even the eraser is so small that I can't see it. It can be on 2500 but the eraser is a dot.Â

I've been working with the tutorial link below to get rid of some stains, While I have no problem working directly on the channels, I'm lost as to what it means to drag the channels onto layers. I can't seem to find a reference as to how to do this. Most likely I don't have to correct term when I'm searching.

I'm working on some websites and my workflow is being slowed down because after installing the new Photoshop CC I tried dragging images from websites into photoshop to open them and create a new image over it WITH the same size as the previous image I dragged in.
I had no problem dragging and dropping images into photoshop CS6 before this, but now images are not opening when I do so. (I have to manually go find the image in the images folder thru dreamweaver first, then hunt them down and open them manually thru photoshop.)
Trying to create a header. I created the buttons in a separate psd file and when I click and drag the buttons into the other canvas (my header) I'm having trouble when I click ctrl + alt + shift to duplicate the new buttons. Some layers are getting left behind. Should I flatten or merge the layers of the button before I click and drag the button into the other canvas (header)?

300 DPI for file size reduction, it is actually
1200 DPI. To size it back up to 1200 DPI,
Lock all of these layers and then open up
a new 1200DPI file (width 3.4,height 2.2)
and drag these locked layers to that file,
then hit Ctrl+T then hold Ctrl+S and resize
the template. The template will look and
print much clearer after it’s re-sized.

I am trying to drag 4 small photos 2x2.5 onto a blank 4x6 but they won't stay there.
I just tried with the same photos earlier using a 72 dpi setting for the small photos and the blank 4x6 and they transferred ok.
When the first 4x6 blank with the 4 small photos on it was sent to Costco to have it printed it wouldn't work because the resolution was too low.
I have increased the resolution of all of the photos but now I can't get them to drag onto the 4x6.
I have the same resolution for the blank 4x6 as the small photos.
They are all jpg.
Why do ALL tutorial videos show the panels on the right of the screen? I loaded CS6 this week and thought I'd change them to the left. Why? Because I'm right handed and I tend to sit more to the left of the screen, which means I have to squint across to the right side of my very wide monitor to see the edit panels. I have successfully set up a profile with the panels on the left, and find it much easier to use (see below).

But... when I open an image it automatically loads to the left of the monitor (partly under the panels). I can get around that by hitting the 'F' key to get full screen mode with panels and menu, but is there a way to change the default position of the loaded image? I want to move it over to the right side as a default - like it is in screen grab below.

But whever I drag it, the layer goes to the center of the new document even while pressing the shift key. (both of the document sized are same) I think it worked before, don't know when but now, it doenst work as I expect.

What should I do?
CC has changed how a stroke responds when dragging the line segments with the direct selection tool. No the direction point moved independently instead of maintaining the same angle from their anchor points. I simply want to drag the line segment and change the distance of the relevant directions to their anchor points.
