I'm using a new Lenovo Yoga 2. The native resolution is 3200x1800. Most Windows applications use scaling to enlarge the menus and other aspects of their user interface. However, Photoshop CC is basically unusable at this resolution because it does not honor the scaling. I have to drop the resolution down to 1600x900 before launching Photoshop CC.
View 24 RepliesI have recently purchased a Dell XPS15 laptop with a QHD+ (3200x1800) display. The PC is running Windows 8.1. I have also purchased Photoshop Elements 12 to run on it.
With the display at the native resolution, it is necessary to have the "Change the size of all items" option in the display settings of Windows 8.1 set to "Larger", in order for the native Windows fonts and UI elements to be at a reasonable size. The laptop came with this option enabled by default.
However, disappointingly the UI font size in Photoshop Elements is way too small when the display is at the native resolution. The application is basically unusable.
I have tried setting the "Use system font" option in the General preferences, but this doesn't seem to work.
The only way I can get the Photoshop Elements UI font to a reasonable size, is by dropping the screen resolution (to say 1920x1080).
This seems like a terrible waste of a beautiful screen, particularly when my main reason for using the PC is for editing photos, and my photo management and editing software is preventing me exploiting the full resolution of the display.
I'm quite a newbie at image editing, I only use The Gimp to resize pictures and to do similar "simple" tasks. For a few times now, and more systematically since the last update, The Gimp crashes while opening high-res images (at least 1000x1000 px).

Although I can randomly succeed in opening this kind of files, I always have to retry several times.
I'm using it in Windows 7 Pro SP1, installed the latest version for Windows 2.8.4 (in French).

View 1 Replies View RelatedThis only happens when PS CS6 (x64) is opened (fresh). If I create a blank doc, I get a top left "blank" rectangle. If I start up CS6 and select a file to open, I get the same blank square. After this, if I open or create a new doc, the files look fine. If I zoom into the blank space, it will eventually draw in properly. This is on any file I open. The files are intact.This is on Win 7 x64, Updated CS6 x64.

When I go to the settings in PS, it tells me that there is a problem with my display driver so I cannot use GPU graphics processing. I would really like these features to be available to me, especially since my GPU meets the recommendations by Adobe. I installed the latest driver from AMD.

Also in Navigator I can see that I should be seeing more image as indicated by the red outline. The bottom is cut off: there are no bottom scroll bars or nor any of the page info, I can't grab the resizing corner to change window dimensions. Also, I can't change from Standard Screen Mode: neither the left tool bar nor the F key has any effect. I've quit and restarted both the PS app and entire computer but problem persists.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded my 3 year old Dell XPS 16 which came with a AMD (ATI) Radeon HD 5730 (1GB) graphics card to Windows 8 (along with a new SSD hard drive), and reinstalled CS6, and now I get messages that the program is no longer detecting my dedicated graphics card. I updated the drivers from both Dell and AMD, and I get the same result.The Graphics Processor Seting box is greyed out in Preferences, and it says it detected an error in my display driver. Everything was fine with the same graphics card under Windows 7.
I suspect that when Windows 8 was installed it installed a generic AMD driver, and even though I have updated it from Dell and AMD several times, something is not quite right because I can't find the AMD Catalyst Control Center. So it might be a WIndows 8 & AMD issue, but I don't really know for sure.
how to get the graphics driver working properly for CS6
After Upgrading from windows 7 to windows 8 photos are not displayed in Photoshop CS6. When I open a photo in the bridge, it is displayed properly in Camera Raw and can be developed there.
After opening the photo in Photoshop 6 then, everything looks good, but the photo is not visible. I can save it and even export it (to jpeg for example), but it is not visible.
Just changed from Windows XP to Win 8. In XP I could see picture thumbnails in Explorer where as in Win 8 I can only see the Application Icon.
PS: in XP I was using Photoshop CS3 Now I'm using Lightroom 5.2
How do I show high level walkways and balconies (in dashed outline) on the ground floor plan in a high volume space?
Obviously I can turn the first floor RCP on in the view and manually draw the information, but I assume these lines won't move if the walkways above move (or am I wrong?). Also this seems slightly wrong given the amount of automation available.

Previews fine in Safari on Mac as standalone file and dropped in to iframe on Wordpress page (just like a Nivo slider on same page. Also previews in Safari using IE user agent string. The best I can do is a kluge I don't want to live with. I've been a Corel user for 20 years. Much as I am attached to the program, this makes it virtually unusable. I work with a ton of files. I need to be able to see what they are before opening them.
I'm disappointed to see this problem has been going on for a number of years. It gives me the feeling the good people who built Corel are all gone now, and pride in the product went with them.
I'd love to learn the real honest-to-goodness Corel fix is jist around the corner, but I can't even find an official Corel position on this issue. Is there one? other than

I am trying to import photos from my computer to Photoshop elements 11. It has imported most but wont import some as "file quality is too high". How do I get around this? Do I have to downgrade the quality of my photos? To do editing wouldn't you want the best quality photos to start off with?
View 6 Replies View RelatedOkay so to start with I have a building with 2 staircores. Everything is drawn in 3d and I have drawn the 2 staircores as elements and subsequently Xrefed these elements into the relevant constructs and subsequently a 3D model view.
When I view the elements as a live drawing (ie. when I open the individual elements) the drawing views okay in plan and in 3D wireframe, hidden mode etc... no problem so far!
When the drawing is Xrefed into a construct and subsequently a 3D model all of the windows and doors disappear... but in 3d only - ie. viewed in plan mode they are fine. I have checked the display configurations in the constructs and views and they are all set to display these objects in the medium detail and high detail for the model and plan modes.
In 3d wireframe mode the windows and doors can be seen within the wall but the opening which they should create is non-existent!This occurs in teh construct and view drawings.
Here's the catch.... I have a 'West Staircore' and and 'East Staircore'. Both are drawn as individual elements. The West staircore is giving trouble, but the East is perfect. They were both set up using the same DWT file which means that the default display configuration settings should be identical.This is backed up by the fact that they view correctly in the live element drawings.
When they are both Xrefed into the same construct, one is fine and the other will not display in the 3D model!

I have Photoshop along with the iOS simulator that shows how the iPad or iPhone will look if they can be used in some way but I mainly need to get menu items and dialogue boxes from various applications in OS X and Windows looking good on Retina screens. I really don't want to pay out for a Retina display purely for this task that would only take a few hours of work at most.
Sometimes this happens. At other times nothing will display at all. I have also had a portion of the picture duplicated multiple times on the stage.

When this is selected on the camera the view finder shows a distored image (squshed). I have also found a setting that when 16.9 is turned off you can display 2 horizontal lines on the display. my question is am i better off shooting footage with the 16.9 turned off on the camera and then using Videostudio pro x4 to create the 16.9 format(if this can be done).

I created a graphic to use on the web (72 dpi), client called and now they want to print it postcard size so they can mail it out. The Original image is 480 x 611.
Most of it is just text and a few rectangle marquee boxes to give color. There are three pictures used. What's the quickest way to replicate this? can I just create a new document at 300dpi and drag all my layers(except the pictures) into it from the low res one or do I have to recreate everything?
how they are getting this high of quality out of a GIF? I thought GIF was limited to 256 colors? The gradients and shadowing look great for this file type, and it is 125KB.
