Photoshop :: CC Crashes On Open / But All Other CC Apps Seem To Be Working Fine
Jun 21, 2013
I just installed CC last night, so I haven't had a lot of time to work with the CC apps yet... Bridge has been working fine since the start for LOTS of sorting and tagging images in the last day and a half, and I've opened CameraRAW a handful of times without issue, then this evening I tried to open Photoshop CC for the first time and got a whole lot of strange messages about expired trials and activation problems and other errors and then it crashed... At first I think my internet security software was maybe interfering with Photoshop's attempts to confirm licensing online, but I seem to have gotten that sorted out ... so I no longer get all the weird licensing errors, but right after Photoshop loads I very quickly get the "Photoshop has quit working" error and it crashes. After experiencing this issue I went and tried all my other CC apps and Premiere, Illustrator, InDesign, Bridge all seem fine... just Photoshop is giving me issues.
Â
I already tried "signing out" and signing back in to CC apps.
Â
I am using CC on Windows 7 pro. I previously have had Master Collection CS3 and CS5 installed on this computer... but I de-installed these entirely before installing any new apps. I had some errors in de-installing CS3 so I used the Adobe Cleaner Tool to ensure that CS5 and CS3 had been completely de-installed before starting fresh with CC. I don't expect this previous software is causing any issues, but I figured I'd give a complete account of my situation.

PSE 6 program won't open from the start menu or Windows Explorer and the editor and organizer apps won't open from Windows Explorer. All the files are listed in WE and not empty. This happened recently after I have used the program a few years. Do I need to reinstall the program? If so, will the catalog have to be recreated? There are more than 7000 photos in the catalog. I am using Windows 7 Home Premium.
I get the 'can't open the app because PowerPC apps are no longer supported. I went to support and ran the script that was recommended. And I confirmed that com.apple.LaunchServices.plist is no longer in my pref file.
(Win) workstations with full CS6 or CC and C4D. If you own (or freelance at places with) decent spec HP Z820 20-30+GB RAM etc would you normally have AI, PS, AE & Cinema 4D open at the same time on Windows?
If yes, do you often get windows redraw issues? do you change your CPU, RAM allocation etc settings for the task you're doing or just leave it the same as you would if you were just running AE & a web browser,
When I select Landscape printing, Photoshop CS6 waitis a moment and then goes back to portrait printing. And it will not print landscape. I still have CS5.1 and it works fine.
I get an error message in PS CC whn I try to open videos that I can't do so in my version of windows. Why since I am able to open the same videos in PS CS6.
Some weeks ago, I posted about my inability to install SP3 -- (a host of) Error 1310 messages, related to permissions to access certain folders, according to the on-screen messages.
Last night, for the first time, I could not open Draw at all -- there was a pause while the PC tried to open it, then an useful message box that reported that a "problem" had caused Draw to stop working, and that I should close the program.
Trying to open all other X5 suite apps is similarly unsuccessful, though none produces that particular error box.
I tried to repair the installation. No go. More Error 1310 messages.
I tried to reinstall SP2, the last patch that actually worked for me. Error 1310.
I tried to uninstall the suite. Not allowed. Error 1310.
I then tried a series of steps to correct the access errors causing the 1310 messages. I tried unregistering/registering the msiserver; deleting or renaming the "Config.msi" folder to which the errors referred, hoping the newly created folder would not have the issue. I made sure I had administrator privileges (the 1310 error alleges that the user does not have access to the given folders). I did everything I could find online. No effect.
So, at the moment, I can't open, repair, update, or uninstall the Draw X5 suite. Short of wiping the hard drive (I don't have issues when I try to uninstall other apps), is there anything I can do?
I know this is a Windows issue, but with that "A problem has caused Draw to stop working" error message.
I recently got a new computer and I have CC so I downloaded the CC app and downloaded LR and PS. LR runs/works fine. PS seemed to download ok but won't even open a new file:picture. How to navigate Windows 8! I have been working on this for a week and now very behind on my editing.
I have an script running fine with my old PSP (X4, X5). But in X6 the result in not good.
I use the script to insert the date on upper right corner of my pitcures. This data is found in Exif of the picture.
I use an fucntion returning the date, but with X6 , the result it not correct.
The source code is --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
def FormatDate( InputExif, Format ): ''' Use the time.strftime method to format a date string in various ways. The input exif date is always formatted as yyyy:mm:dd hh:mm:ss, so the first step is to convert that to a time tuple. We do that by changing the one lone space to a colon, then using split to give us a tuple that coincidentally matches the one used by time. '''
today I had opened my photoshop file which I was coloring ( a comic page) I allready spend 3days on this comic and I just don't wanne start over .I was working on it in CS6, As friends suggested I had opened it aswell in CS5 to try if it works there but no it didn't. I also placed it in AI, but sadly again the ugly line picture shows up .
I'm running Adobe Illustrator CS4 on my Mac Pro running OSX 10.7 Lion and for some reason I am no longer able to open any new or existing files. Illustrator boots up just fine but 'File>New' gives me nothing. 'File>Open' gives me my usual search box but once a file is selected, again, I get nothing. Dragging a file into Illustrator gives me this response',
Before promptly quitting. Â I have tried deleting all the files from my Illustrator Preferences folder but doesn't seemed to have worked.
After many years of using LR this is the first time I've encountered this issue (see 1st screenshot below). LR is scrambling my files. The affected raw files open fine in other programs, including adobe photoshop cc (see 2nd screenshot).
Quite frequently when I rotate an image with the rotate tool and then work on it, after a while photoshop crashes on me. This never used to happen on CS5. Â My setup is iMac12.1, lion 10.7.4
I just installed it and I haven't been able to use it. I'll try on my mac laptop too. Too bad that I removed CS6 from my HD now I don't have photoshop,
Photoshop CS4 will not open...My OS is Lion 10.7.5. I know the issue involves Extensis' Suitcase Fusion...my version is 2. I can't afford to upgrade. Is there a workaround so that I can open Photoshop? Photoshop is not listed in the Plug-in Manager list of Suitcase Fusion so I can't disable the plug-in.Â
I was using photoshop CC this morning and all was good. There was windstorm and a power outage. When I tried to use it tonight, It opens all the way, but immediately a window opens that says "Adobe Photoshop CC has stopped working". I am on a decent Windows machine using Windows 7. I know Adobe is performing maintenence, but could it cause this?? Could a file have been cut or something when the power went out? Do I need to uninstally Photshop CC and re-install?? I checked and my cloud app is working okay. After Effects opened also. Lightroom is working okay, but I prefer to use Lightroom and Photoshop together & get better results.
My work copy of CS3, Photoshop in particular, is crashing every single time I try to open more than one file. I tried trashing the preferences when using WinXP. We couldn't get it to stop crashing upon opening more than 1 file regardless of the open method (Recent docs, File>Open, Drag & Drop, etc) So then I actually got a new computer (bonus!) and there's Vista Ultimate on it. All was working great until this morning and now sure enough if I try to open more than one file, CRASH... Does anybody have any ideas on how to fix this? It must not be my machine because I've tried two machines..
When I go to open a file (any file, jpeg, psd, tif) Photoshop CC launches and begins the process of starting up. The file image appears for a brief moment then the program closes (aka crashes) and that's it. I then try CS6 and it opens the file just fine.
I can open jpgs but when I open a psd I crash. Here is the error report  Process: Adobe Photoshop CS4 [1396]Path: /Applications/Adobe Photoshop CS4/Adobe Photoshop CS4.app/Contents/MacOS/Adobe Photoshop CS4Identifier: com.adobe.PhotoshopVersion:    11.0.2 [11.0.2x20100519 [20100519.r.592 2010/05/19:02:00:00 cutoff; r branch]] (11.0.2)Code Type:  X86 (Native)Parent Process: launchd [140] [code]...
My Photoshop crashes if I open two *.psd files at the same time. If I open only one file everything works. If I try afterwards to create a new file it crashes again. It seems it can't handle more than ONE file.
Anytime open a file, Any file and then close Photoshop, Photoshop crashes before it has completely closed, I'm using Photoshop CS6 extended v13.01 x32 on Windows 7
Every time I open a RAW file in CS6 (at 16-bit depth) it crashes, so I am unable to open RAW files after editing in Camera Raw. The RAW files open OK in Camera Raw and I can edit them, but then opening them from Camera Raw into Photoshop (by clicking on Open Image) causes a crash.  Further background: I also had CS3 (the entire suite concurrently) installed. Thinking that might be a problem, I removed all of CS3 using the Adobe Uninstaller tool to see if that would work. Then I re-installed Photoshop CS6 from scratch and then downloaded and installed all updates.  CS6 still crashes every time I open a RAW file if I open it as 16-bit. If I open a .DNG file directly from Photshop (without using Camera Raw), that crashes too. I'm opening them into Photoshop using Adobe RGB (1998), 16-bit, 3456 x 5184 (17.9 MP), 300DPI.  Thinking it might be a memory issue, I checked free RAM using Activity Monitor and I see it has 3.4 GB free with both CS6 and Bridge open, which should be plenty. However I do see by looking in the crash report from the system log (portion included below), that it appears the crash may have resulted from a failed MALLOC (memory allocation).  Here's the kicker: oddly, when I open the file up in Photoshop at 8-bit depth, it works fine.  Details:  Software and Hardware versions: Photoshop CS6 Extended (13.0.4 x64) Camera Raw 7.3 Bridge CS6 (5.0.2.4) Mac OS X 10.8.2 (Mountain Lion) 8 GB RAM 27" iMac with 2.66 Ghz Intel Core i5 ATI Radeon HD 4850 graphics card with 512 MB RAM 1 Terabyte HD with 750GB free Canon EOS Rebel T3i Canon EF75-300mm f/4-5.6 Lense  Top portion of System Log file with the crash data in it: Process:        Adobe Photoshop CS6 [4110] Path:           /Applications/Adobe Photoshop CS6/Adobe Photoshop CS6.app/Contents/MacOS/Adobe Photoshop CS6 Identifier:     com.adobe.Photoshop
When I switch between Photoshop 6 and other apps, particularly Chrome, I have to actually click the Photoshop icon, sometimes several times to get the system to focus on PS and show those menus. Clicking the window, which works for every other app, doesn't seem to work here. I'm on Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and using the latest PS6.
Here's the error log that I go through every time I try to open a TIFF file.

I'm getting the EPIC_APP will not launch problem trying to launch Acrobat, so I try to launch Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Flash, etc., get the License Agreement screen, accept it, it goes away, and nothing more happens (incl. no indication in Task Manager that it has started). I have a working internet connection (obviously, or I wouldn't be able to submit this question), but could it be a firewall issue anyway? If not, what gives? It's a fresh install of Adobe MC CS3 on a Toshiba Sattellite L305-S5933 running 32 bit Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 w/ 3GB of RAM. Please help: I'm trying to use Acrobat to edit my 1040 and, obviously, time is of the essence!
I have recently installed the Adobe CS, and am running OS 10.3.3. I have two USB printers, one epson and one HP, that print fine with all other apps and are in my printer list and so on... But when I go to try to print from Photoshop, in the print dialog window, instead of my default printer being selected, the drop down menu says "No printer selected". When I go to try to select a printer from that drop down menu, my two printers are not there, and instead the only options are "Edit Printers list..." and "check for printer updates..".
I have tried everything I could think of... Like I said the printers are installed and working great in other apps, and the same menu in other applications shows both printers and lets me select them. Any suggestions? Is there a plugin or something that I need to put in a specific Adobe folder? Why don't the Adobe programs see the printers? Here's another weird thing: Adobe Acrobat does see the printers. And that is how I have to print my photoshop docs, save as PDF and then print.
Everytime I open photoshop to edit a simple photo it crashes. Almost as soon as I press clone tool or any other tool it crashes. Its not my computer, or the space on my computer or my video drives. I was going to uninstall then re-install but I am scared because I have the CD but not my serial number.
Every time I open Photoshop Elements Organizer it either crashes before opening or very soon after. I am able to use the editor, but not the organizer. I ahve removed all older versions, disabled my anti-virus software, and have uninstalled and reinstalled the program several times with no luck. I have a Dell Laptop with windows 7 - 64 bit operating system and dual quad processor. I have used several versions of Elements and have never had this problem before. The last version that I had installed and worked was version 8.
