What is the default setting for base line shift in the Character pallet?
Mine is always default to 51.66pt but I believe this is incorrect. I have looked on other photoshop users computers and they seem to have 0.8pt. How can I reset the default if this is incorrect??.
I've been using a very old version of Photoshop for the last 10 years and I'm used to using the shift key to extend a line or paint stroke. By that I mean, I use the paint tool to make a dot and then hold down the shift key and make another dot elsewhere and that creates a straight line. I just purchased CS6 and that function doesn't seem to be happening. Is this something I need to activate in a preference?
I use Photoshop 7 & do a lot of cleanup of bitmap/tiff images, such a logos & symbols that need cleaning up around the edges etc. Holding the shift down while drawing with a brush in eraser, etc. mode creates a straight horizontal line & that makes cleaning a horizontal edge easy & quick.
Is there any keystroke combinations that will draw a perfectly straight vertical line?
In my drawing I have 6 rectangular object and of different sizes. I want to align them to one base line or align bottom as in visio. How can I do that?
I created a straight line using the shift, click method. Now nothing I do will affect it. When it failed to be made invisible by toggling the layer I thought I created it in I systematically went through each layer in the image, turning them visible, invisible in case I lost track of where it was created, but even though those layers became visible/invisible as they should, nothing happened to the line. I tried to create a layer above it to just cover it up, but even though the new layer was on top, the line showed through. Although this line used to be needed it is now essentially a blight on the rest of my image, which is massive. I dread the idea of having to start from scratch. I can't simply erase it because it doesn't seem to be associated with a layer. Originally, the image was created in 2.6, I think (but am not sure) that this is the version I used to make the line, but when I got a new computer I downloaded 2.8, and after this discovered the problem. Everything else works normally, is responsive, etc
I normally use AutoCAD Electrical 2012 but my problem is AutoCAD so I thought I would log it here.In ACE there are default profiles for ACE and Vanilla AC. I use the Vanilla AC for basic CAD drawings.
I like the feature "Base Line Spacing" for dimensions, to state the obvious,BUT it I do some vertical dims then try to do some horizontal dims (both in base line spacing) the software wants to stay in vertical BSL.
I can find is to create a standard DIM, delete it, then i can do a selection of horizontal BSL.Is this how it works in AC2012? Or is it a function of ACE? There are some other functions in ACE that do not work in standard CAD under the CAD profile.

I'm trying to use it instead of my photoshop «not very legal» version.
There is a feature I really like in Photoshop and GIMP which is the ability to draw a line using pen/brush/eraser/any tool using the SHIFT modifier key. This really miss me in Paint.NET. You click somewhere, you move the cursor elsewhere, holding SHIFT you click again, and (using the tool you currently have selected) a perfect line is drawn between the two points.
Left: 'vertical align bottomed text with the box of black stroke Right: manually moved text with smart guide to align with its base line.(what I want to achieve)
As you can see in the left one, text has its base line under itself, and its bounding box doesn't match its base line. when I use align, it doesn't align using its base line but its bounding box.How can I make text align using their base line easily?
We are using Civil 3D 2010, Version 4.1 and it is being used on both WinXP and Win7.
This is an issue that has been coming up at different times with profile views and them shifting when viewed from our viewports in our layout tab. It looks correct in the model space. But it shifts to the right 10' in the layout tab. We have 7 tabs in this drawing. I have looked through all of the profile view settings and it does not seem like any of these are the issue. I created a new viewport in the same tab and received the same shift to the right. I then created a new tab in the same drawing (not copied from the one that has the issue), created a new viewport, and the shift is not there. The PSLTSCALE, MSLTSCALE, and LTSCALE are all set to 1 in all of th tabs.
Woudl there be a layout tab setting that is causing this? This is happening on all of our machines with this drawing so I know it is not a specific user/machine issue. I have attached a .pdf showing the three cases described above if that were to provide any additional insight.
Is it possible to add a base depth to the transition lane assembly? I need to do volumes for my road, (pavement, base) but there is a section with a transition (which only has one depth), so that section is off.
I got a new desktop not too long ago and now I have a problem. How do I port my Photoshop CS4 from my old pc to my new one? If I just move the existing file as is, I get an error 6 which says my liscence has expired.
I shot with a Canon EOS 5D one image as a RAW and JPG.When I view with Canon Digital Phot Professional, both files are identical in exposure. They look just the way it shows on my camera LCD display, but when i open both file on photoshop CS5 or Bridge there is a huge drop in exposure on the RAW file. The jpg is fine. There is a huge difference in exposure between the RAW and jpg? It's the same file.
I used to be able to hold the shift key down and then click to make a straight conection between two points with the the standard brushes. Now this no longer works with the standard assorted brushes but still does with other brushes. Any ideas?
I have been using the shift key to connect points. Today when I hold and click the points no longer join. any suggestions as to why it no longer functions?
I'm having a strong color shift in Photoshop going from one monitor to another. It's not a calibration issue because the color shift persists when I drag the window from one to another until I do something with the window, then it will shift (i.e. not exactly when I move the window). I'm essentially experiencing the problem described here, only I'm on Photoshop CS5 and his solution doesn't apply because that option is not available.
Windows 7 64bit Photoshop CS 5 (12.1 x64)
Note the color change, one part of that image is on one monitor, and the other part on the other. (The left is the correct color fwiw.)
I'm guessing there's just some setting somewhere I can toggle?
when loading an image into cs3 or elements 7 I am getting a large color shift to magenta and the image is getting very dark. I have reset the color settings and reset to default but no improvement in the images. the pictures look good in bridge or any other picture viewer on the computer.
I have not been able to the nice feature of pressing shift+ number to control the amount of flow while painting for some time now (or to control the amount of opacity with airbrush on). This feature was great when I first started using it back in PS7 but I haven't seen it since the last few packages.
It is a major time saver for any digital painter's workflow and am worndering if their is any way to make this function work again.see the the adobe link if you'd like to see Adobe's description of the function.[URL]...
I have a project where I am converting images from CMYK to Multichannel in order to swap out the Cyan for a PMS color. As soon as I switch to Multichannel, the image reddens up quite some. I know it has to do with the View Gamut in Photoshop, and that it goes away upon the RIP for printing, but it is hard to work with color accurately whit the added Red. Do you know of any way to remove the color shift?
I am on a Mac Power book running OS X 10.7.5 with Adobe CS4.
Windows Vista Home Premium, 2GB RAM, 200GB free HDD space, HP Laptop Adobe Photoshop CS3 (with/without 10.0.1 patch) Epson Stylus Pro 4800 via TCP/IP connection
I am still having the following three problems:
1. When holding down the shift key and clicking near the edge of the screen with a paint/clone/repair brush, the screen jumps to another area of the image (light years away it seems) - PS7 and CS2 moved a fraction of an inch in comparison.
2. When printing to the Epson Stylus Pro 4800, no matter how many copies I indicate that I want, I'll inevitably get more...sometimes many more. From my other PC, a dual P3 with 4GB of RAM running Win2KPro and PSCS2, this does not happen (using same file).
3. If I close a file that is showing full-window (not necessarily full-screen), and another image is still waiting to be worked on in the background, the full-window image does not change when the file closes, but the navigator version of the image changes to the next image waiting in the background. I have to resize the window to force a rewrite of the screen with the correct image.
photos that were taken of product for our company website. At first, I converted them all to GIFs with transparent backgrounds, but that was starting to create major lagtime in accessing the site. Now I'm trying to convert the originals to JPGs with a background color that matches the website background, but my background colors aren't consistent, and I can't figure out why.
I started by taking the color I was using on the website and used that to paint the background of the photo. When I loaded that JPG on the site, the color did not match the page's background color. I used the eyedropper on the picture and found out the color was no longer the same color I specified (it wasn't an issue of eyeballing it incorrectly,... I had entered in the exact R, G, and B values).
I did some further testing with the "Save for Web" function and various RGB values to see if there was some pattern to the testing. It doesn't appear that colors are being scewed to a value relative to the original color, nor does it appear that the colors are mapping to certain nearby values.
When I had CS3 I would be able to open a RAW image in Photoshop with the ProPhoto RGB color space. I would then change the color space as needed.
In CS4, I am using the 64-bit version, and there is a color shift when I open a RAW image in Photoshop with ProPhoto color space. The color is desaturated.
There is no color sift when I open the same image using Adobe RGB.
I imagine this is something you get kind of often, but I searched around and couldn't find anything that I understood. I suspect I'm just not sure what to search for...
I have experience with Photoshop in general, but not at all with color profiles.
I take my own photos and have been printing them for a while, after editing them in Photoshop. I have my Proof set to Working CMYK. However, whenever I try to Save For Web these same images, they come out looking similarly to if I had changed the Proof to Monitor RGB.
How can I save my images to JPG without experiencing this color shift? I don't want to change my proof to Monitor RGB and re-level if I can possibly avoid it.
Can someone please let me know why I'm getting a color shift (the entire image lightens noticably) when I export an image or animated gif with "Save for Web & Devices...". It happens on PCs and Macs, and with both CS3 and CS2.
I've been using this feature (flawlessly until a few months ago) long enough to realize that there are several settings to adjust the color table, dithering, web snap, etc., but adjusting these settings don't seem to fix the problem. When I use "Save As..." the color shift doesn't occur, and that's been my workaround, but I'm currently trying to save a few animated gifs, which must be saved with "Save for Web & Devices..." in order to retain the animation.
