Sometimes when using shop i alter the size of say a brush down to 3 pixels or less, then go back up to say 20 pixels but the on screen pointer does not show the actual size, how come?
View 9 RepliesI just upgraded to Illustrator CS6 on a PC. I try to save my graphic in Save for Web and want to alter the image size, but it won't change, it just goes back to the original size. If I change the percentage box, the values change. I have tried linking and unlinking the proportions and nothing. What am I missing?? I don't have time to guess the percentage to get to the exact width I need.

CS2 and a AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual core CPU 4200+ 2.21GHz CPU /1GB RAM (6 years old along with the version CS2 running WinXP SP3) I plan on upgrading this year my hardware, OS (to WIn 7 64-bit) and the Adobe Production Premium suite to CS6 (After upgrading to CS5.5 since I am ineligible for the upgrade from CS2. )
One of the things that has always bothered me in Photoshop CS2 was when I set a paintbrush or a blur brush to 300 pixels wide and I'm working even on a small 4x6" 300dpi canvas If I make a brushstroke it takes seconds to make a rendered stroke. I plan on doing digital paintings with a Wacom tablet 8x10, 11x14, 16x20" in size with Photoshop CS6.
I read that as of 2008 CS 3 Photoshop will use the GPU for rendering/processing some effects. Is this true for PaintBrush and blur tools?Granted we are talking about a 6 year old mid-level CPU and now new technology but I would like to know along with using 8 GB RAM Will this 300 pixel-wide brush lag totally change with a Ivy Bridge Intel Core i5-3570K Ivy Bridge 3.4GHz Quad-Core?

I have contacted Adobe about issues with Photoshop brushes recently. My issue is that the brush size is smaller than the circle that represents the brush. In other words, when I hoover over the area that I want to paint or erase with the circle and then click, the painted or erased area is smaller that the circle. It's really frustrating when fine tuning an image, you never know how close you are to what you want to correct. This is only visible when you zoom in quit a bit. I worked with an Adobe tech for over an hour and he could not simulate the problem. Then he finally asked if I was using a retina display, (he was not).
View 4 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to get a brush exactly 2 pixels square? If i set the Radius to 0.7, i get a 3 pixel brush, if set to 0.6, i get a 1 pixel square brush. I mainly use GIMP to touch up scanned in forms and tables and most of the lines are 2 pixels which means twice as much work to correct a skewed line.

I just found the Size slider that's separate from brushes... Woops. Radius slider still confuses me, but it's not a problem anymore. I don't see a delete button around, either. :/
I go to image and then image size and everytime i go to change the canvas size to inches it will not work. Is it becasue the it's the trial version?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm using a tablet with gimp and I want to be able to set the brush size for the paint brush and also for the eraser, separately. What happens now is that I'll set the paintbrush size to 10px, paint for a little while, turn the pen over to erase and the eraser will now be at 10px. So I'll adjust the eraser size to something like 50px, erase, turn over, and now the paintbrush is at 50px. Grrrrrrr... I tried creating new brushes for both the paintbrush and the eraser, but there's no brush size option. This is my first time using gimp so I'm probably missing something.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI've been trying to make my own panels in Configurator 3 for some time now and I posted about this problem in the Configurator -board. But it wasn't until now that I realised that this issue is a lot bigger than that: it applies to EVERY panel inside Photoshop - not just custom-built ones.
The issue that I'm having is that I'm trying to create a custom toolbar and Photoshop wont let me specify proper dimensions for it. As you might know, toolbars are slim. The original one is 30px/60px (single row / double row) - give or take. So I want my custom toolbar to be roughly the same size: 60 pixels in my case.
The problem is that Photoshop refuses to set a panel's width to anything below 132 pixels upon application startup - even if you've resized the panel before you closed Photoshop. So what I have is a 60 pixel custom toolbar that every time I start photoshop, rescales itself up to 132 pixels - and I can't get around this by setting a maxwidth value to my toolbar inside Configurator. This is EXTREMELY annoying, and there does not seem to be a workaround at all. I'm actually starting to believe that this is something that has been hardcoded into the software by the programmers at Adobe.
Also, I've seen other ppl having the same problem and afaik, the issue has NEVER been resolved.
Try this yourself: Take the navigation panel (just as an example) and make it slim. Close down Photoshop and then start it up again. The navigation panel scales up itself to 132 pixels. (You can check this with a print screen, and then using the square marquee tool to see the width of the navigation panel).
I need to know the exact number of pixels that I select for a size comparison. It's a non-rectangular selection similar to a cloud.I'm using CS2 but could upgrade if needed.

Both pictures got same square transparent hole, but sizes are so different. Using mask do not reduce size of the file PNG24. Why is like that, bug ?

Although I will be saving these as loss less TIFs, I also wish to make JPGs from them that I wish to be just less than 5 MB in file size. Aside from cropping, I know I can achieve such a reduction of JPG file size by a combination of saving to lower quality JPG compression or reducing image size. My question is, what is theoretically or practically better, achieving this mostly by reducing image total pixels or by reducing JPG compression quality.

I need to create a .png document which is 16x16 px and 96dpi. The ability to chose the dpi size when setting up a new doc is very limited.
The only thing I've managed to do is create a 19x19 px 72dpi image, export it "for web" and then take it into photoshop and change the dpi to 96.
Is there a better, easier way? Also, we're considering upgrading to CS6 - are these features better in CS6?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI need to have a pic finish at (width-3072 and height- 2048 pixels). When I click on file>new I put in those dimensions, but when I am done with pic and I export it, the picture shrinks to very small. The only way around this is to maximize the image in Gimp to 100% and use my snipping tool to outline the image, then "save as". This will save it large, but not the size I need.
My brothers and I took some pics and I added a couple things in one of mine, to try to fake them out. If the size of THAT image is way different than the rest, the fake out will not work. I normally use Faststone to re-size my images but it will not re-size my Gimp images.
