I want to activate my Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 on my new computer. However, I cannot deactivate it on my old computer first, since that computer is broken (I know I can activate it on two computers, but that second activation is already taken by my other computer). What can I do to activate my Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 on my new computer?

I've done this to test production premium on Windows 7 as my secondary computer usage of the license (Single User). However, Windows 7 will eventually be deactivated on my laptop early next year by Microsoft, so my question is, if i tell production premium to deactivate on my laptop, will it affect my primary instalation on my XP PC? I do plan to get 7 for my PC as a full-use OS to fully replace XP when it comes out, but deactivating the product then and reactivation after instalation of 7 should work fine,

Since the software has an activation and deactivation feature and requires an internet connection, I assume that an activation on a third computer would not be possible. So I really have to make sure that I don't lose any of the two systems because I'd also lose one activation with it. (Or I'd need to mess with the support which I'm trying to avoid.)

Today I've noticed that my notebook shows strange error messages. Applications were missing or would not start due to wrong reasons (not compatible with x64, although this was specificly the x64 version, and it's always worked fine). I ran a chkdsk and it fixed tons or filesystem errors. Now other programs are missing and I can't even install any new ones... Unfortunately I noticed the error while trying to perform a Windows system backup. That stupid thing deleted the old version and messed up the new one. So I haven't got any right now. There's also no system restore points, so I can only reinstall the system.
 What files or registry keys do I need to copy to a safe location to backup Adobe's software activation on my computer? Would it be possible to restore such a backup on the very same hardware (maybe another disk drive in case the previous one died) but with a freshly installed Windows (same version)? I've learned several times that I cannot rely on a complete system image backup. The only backups that have ever worked 100% reliably for me were those where I copied files to a known location in a known format. But that doesn't include the activation I guess. I'd like to know where it is located so that I can perform a decent backup of it.

Don't worry, no user data is lost, but I'm kind of lucky that Photoshop still started and I could deactivate it before that wouldn't work anymore as well. (Computer systems often die slowly...)

I have upgraded my old PC with new MB, CPU, SSD. Complete system disk has been set up from scratch.New installation of PSE 8 worked fine, migration of all catalogs and images without problems.No I get the PSE message that the number of activations has been exceeded.I was not aware that I had to deactivate PSE 8 on the old system :-((Â I still have a complete backup of the old system disk, but I can not start the old system any more.

Let me be clear, I bought the application from Adobe, I have a valid license that was delivered from Adobe via email, the software has only ever been installed once, on this machine.
I'm not talking about the "deactivate" menu being greyed out or anything. I can select it and then tick the checkbox to erase my serial-number, but when clicking on "Deactivate" and answering with "Yes", it takes about 2-3 seconds before I get a "Deactivation denied" message. I tried to call Adobe Support, but the woman I got on the phone was completely useless. She didn't understand what I wanted to do, and wanted to provide me with new activation details. I explained to her three times why that wouldn't work and she simply skipped ahead to the next useless response in her database. Here is what I'm trying to do: 1) Deactivate the entire CS4 Master Suite.2) Make a backup of the my HD3) Clean-install Windows 7 RC (can't upgrade from Vista Business)4) Install and activate CS4 Master Suite on Windows 7. If that works (including my other important software) then I would continue using that machine until Windows 7 final is released in October and then I would need to repeat steps 1-4 again (you can't upgrade the RC to the full version). If that doesn't work (or one of my important programs doesn't work) then I would use the back-up and re-activate CS4. Why is there a limit for deactivations? So I need (again I think) to Deactivate it on PC #1 before I can activate it on PC #2. The online help says that under the Help menu I should see a Deactivate option. But I don't. To begin with nothing on the first line of text can be selected at all and deeper into the text it is not possible to select a singe line of text or a single word or letter. The cursor simply selects in a totally erratic way selecting blocks of text.Therefore it is not possible to edit any text.

Trying to auto-select a layer that's within 10 pixels of a shape layer is impossible without having to zoom in. This is a little hard to explain without images... Cue image...

If you try to recreate the above image, where the black 20x20px rectangle is a shape and the red 38x38px rounded rectangle is rasterized pixels, you will see that auto-selecting the red rounded rectangle is impossible at 100%.

Is this intentional and just an issue for me? Selecting pixel layers in CS5 was never this annoying. It seems that shape layers have an invisible 10px area around them stopping you from selecting anything below them. This is so frustrating with pixel UI work.
Why are SmartLayoutReader & ElementLabel.pln installed in my InDesign CC? I don't want them and the make it impossible to export my files.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to convert an existing VBA routine to a vb.Net dll. One of the functions is inserting and scaling an existing tif image file into a blank AutoCAD 2010 drawing. I've searched and found just a few examples, but they all seem horrifically complicated . Am I missing the simple way of doing this, or is this an example of the seemingly massive learning curve of .Net that is beginning to remind me of my collegiate C class (shudder)?

I can't find a way to import an .icc into my GIMP work.
I want to do this so that the pictures on my computer monitor match as closely as possible to the prints from my local (high-end) print shop. My screen is Spyder calibrated.
I'm trying;
Image >>> Mode >>> Convert To Colour Profile >>> (and then from the pop-up box) >>> Convert to ... (and then from the pop-up box) >>> Select Colour Profile From Disk
... and then I select the new .icc (provided to customers on the print shop's website) from a Downloads folder on my local drive.
That all sounds right doesn't it?
It stubbornly remains on sRGB.icc
I've also tried the process in;
Edit >>> Preferences >>> Colour Management
Same result - ignores the selection of a new .icc and remains stuck on sRGB.icc.
I'm desperately trying to colour correct for printing today.
I have encountered problems with the viewport, randomly it has been impossible to click through wireframe models on the Viewport.

It treats everything like a shaded object even when set on wireframe. This means that if I have to get to a rug in the basement I have to go through the Roof, ceiling, bedroom floor, kitchen ceiling, kitchen cabinets, kitchen floor, basement ceiling before I can get to the rug. This has become annoying because if I wanted to select a few objects I cant even click and drag because it will click on the roof and move that. The only way I can click on something is if I go in to perspective and click on it directly, and when an object has multiple pieces to it it becomes a hastle.
When I select the Synchronize option, it says there are over 295,000 images, which is impossible. 15 to 20,000 at most. So I never start it, cause I'm afraid of what it's trying to catalog. Why would it be giving me such a number?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just spent my afternoon with a prospect who just want to install Inventor 2013 from the downloaded trial version. He's on windows 7 home premium x64 SP1, everything seems fine, but he's unable to launch inventor after installing it.
We chose Inventor 2013 (not pro version) with some content center libraries, without Fusion or Vault.The installation went fine with no antivirus (he's using Microsoft security essentials) and UAC disabled (minimum level).He rebooted the computer and then tried to launch Inventor and saw the message attached.
He tried alone for 3 days, and I called him today to try different things (first we tried to install inventor pro but there was a problem with some moldflow component error 1920, which is unsolved for the moment according to the different topics in the forum).
We had to manually uninstall Inventor and the different components (delete the folders, and manually go through registry to delete the keys), then reboot, run ccleaner 3 times, and then install in C:AutodeskInventor 2013
He also tried to download and run Autocad Mechanical and has the exact same problem. The installation runs well, but when he wants to run ACAD, he has the same error message.
I have been using Illustrator for a couple of years now and from time to time I encounter very strange behavior when manipulating a vector shape.I have a current example here where I simply want to create a combined shape using the pathfinder tool:

As you can see, the generated shape (red) does not cover the original shape (green).When I use the path selection tool, I am able to reposition the first anchor but when I do the same for the lower anchor as well the entire shape is replaces a few pixel to the left. Even using the "align" tool afterwards is not useful. It seems impossible to make the red shape cover the green one.
The loading of the preset "Rich Content PDF" failed.I Choose Edit > Adobe PDF Presets. I Click Import, and I select the "Rich Content PDF.joboptions" file.
But I have an error message (Impossible to copy the PDF preset).

View 2 Replies View RelatedI want to save a picture from Elements 10 to an Adobe RGB color space .jpg file. I have set the color management optimiztion to Adobe RGB but it still saves as sRGB. In the Save As window it says it is saving as ICC Adobe RGB but it saves it sRGB anyway! Also, there's no way to know this unless you run another program that detects the color space, such as QImage. I want to save in Adobe RGB.

Also, trouble printing anything that is an Adobe document. All of this started happening at once, so I assume they are connected. make sure my drivers, settings, etc... are correct?
