Paint.NET :: Canvas / Font Sizes
Oct 10, 2013using Paint for a few months with great results, but i'm having problems trying to get font sizes to fit a page i.e.A4, i set the canvas size dpi etc, but can't get for example the the letter H in Stencil font to fit to the page without selecting it and stretching it manually which makes it not look correct, the font size won't go past 288.

Xara :: Possible To Change Default Font Sizes Listed?
May 16, 2012I have been using Xara for a very long time. I have recently started a side business generating signs and banners and continue to use Xara as my primary graphics editor, but I've discovered a tiny issue and I'm hoping there is some way around it. The Font Size live preview slider is limited (for some reason?) to sizes less than 32pt, and the font drop down list starts getting coarse after 24pt and tops out at 72pt sizes. Since most of what I'm doing involves text sizes larger than 72pt and much larger than the 32pt the slider allows, both of those options for adjusting font size have lost their usefulness.
Is there any way for me to adjust the values for the slider and/or for the drop down list to allow larger numbers? I realize I could use a scaling factor and layout my signs as a fraction of their intended size, but then I have hope to remember to change the scale when I import it into my sign cutting software or run the risk of wasting vinyl, so that would be my last choice.
Surely I can't be the only person who uses large text?
Also, any issues with exporting text into EPS and getting a change in the case of the text? If I export "This is Text" as an EPS file, when I import it into my sign cutting software, I sometimes get "tHIS IS tEXT", but if I import the same EPS into Xara it looks normal. Not sure if that is Xara or the sign cutting software (LXi Express Expert edition)... Until I figure that one out, I make sure to convert text to editable shapes before exporting it...
Photoshop :: Automatically Change Font Sizes To Uneven Numbers
Jul 15, 2013Sometimes Photoshop automatically change my font sizes to uneven numbers. For instance 12 pt changes to 11,98 pt. Why and what could be done to avoid this? Also XY positions of objects in Illustrator get changed to sligtly different numbers like 9,98 px.

Sep 2, 2013I created some posters last year and I need to make them again this year. For some reason I'm not able to increase the font size past 1000.
I wrote down the instructions last year. The only thing I can't remember is how I increased the font to 2000. I can get the font size to 1000, but as soon as I increase it nothing shows up on the screen except the blinking cursor.
I'm using Paint.net 3.5.10 build 3.510.4297.28964 on windows 7. I have the image resolution set to 300.
I have also tried this same thing using the latest version of Paint.net on windows 8. I get the same behavior but I can't increase the font size past 900.
The file I created is too large to attach.
Paint Shop Pro :: File Sizes Changing?
Jun 27, 2012I'm baffled. I do 99.9% of my photo work in Lightroom and then export to jpg. On the rare occasion when I need to remove something from a photo (a fly or leash), I have been using PSP version 9 because I already have it.
However, this morning I opened an 8 Mb jpgs file, did my editing and just saved it (no save as or resizing), and now the file is only 2 Mb.

Paint Shop Pro :: Different Output File Sizes

OS: Win 7 Pro
When saving JPEGs, I seem to be getting wildly different resulting file sizes, depending on whether I've used Save or Save As. Case in point:
original file size from camera: 6194 KB
Save / Standard encoding / compression factor 2: 1875 KB
Save As / Standard encoding / compression factor 2: 5184 KB
Save / Lossless encoding : 1875 KB
Save As / Lossless encoding: 7235 KB
It seems to me that with x2 (my previous version), I could set the low compression factor, and the resulting Save file would actually be larger than the original. I want to be able to save with minimal compression (but I don't want to mess with TIFFs), and I need to know if I should now be using Save As instead.
Is this as designed, is it my imagination...what's going on?

Aug 17, 2011How the new text tool functions and lacks the ability to select text and scroll through the fonts and see how that font looks on the text.
I'm still having massive issues trying to figure out what fonts to use, at first I was all for the new method of applying text to the image but now I'm finding it a real pain. I have over 1500 fonts to browse when trying to create text. Without a preview mode where I can scroll through the fonts, the entire process turns into a tedious nightmare.
Is there a plug in or add on... or a undocumented method to get the X2 functionality of being able to scroll through the fonts and see how it looks on the text?
If not, I am uninstalling X3 and either moving to photoshop or going back to X2. Its too much of a pain to keep clicking back and forth font by font - one by one.
Paint Shop Pro :: Missing Font - BETSY?
Mar 21, 2013I have Paint Shop Pro X4. I File/Open a .PSPIMAGE file and I get a Replace Font window telling me I am missing Font: BETSY.
I went to a download site [URL] and downloaded a Font called BETSY FLANAGAN which appears to be the font I need.
In the dropdown box for the Replace font, I search and find the BETSY FLANAGAN font I downloaded to the FONTS Folder. When I insert it, the text where it is used comes out odd. I have the original jpeg file, so I know the font is not the same. Is BETSY FLANAGAN the same as the missing BETSY font?

May 23, 2011I have added 9pt vector text in multiple places of an image. Now I realize it should have been 8pt. I can add new text as 8pt but cant figure out how to change the point size of vector text that is already on the image. If I select a vector text object and then change the point size on the "Size" drop down menu at the top nothing happens. If I right click the vector object and select Edit Text I can change the actual text but not the font or its size. If I right-click the vector object and select Properties I can change stroke, fill, line style etc but this window does not include font or size. How do I change the font and point size for existing vector text objects?

May 15, 2012I want to use the paint brush for editing a photo I have, but the only color available is black. No matter where I've looked in PSP, there was no option to change the color of the paint brush. I've read online that you need to change the pallet to material pallet, then go to "Foreground & Stroke Properties" and set the color box to the color I want, but the only colors I get are different hues of black and gray.
Even in Paint it's just a matter of clicking the desired color to use different colors. Why isn't it so simple in PSP?

Jan 30, 2012Using PSPP X3 Ultimate.
I have some Tif files and jpeg files that are 600dpi and 400dpi. I scanned these images with my Canon CanoScan LiDE 700F scanner. Can i use my version of PSPP X3 Ultimate to change the dpi value? Is this stuck? I wanted to be able to get the 600 and 400 dpi image files (I have some 300dpi's too) down to the 100-250 range if I needed to. I see there are different export options and compression in PSPPX3Ultimate, but I'm not sure if this will do what I want.
I want to export as Tif and Jpeg again.
Are there any good third party photo and or video editors that I can batch edit this with? It's ok to mention pay programs and I'd prefer good quality freeware if there is such a thing. I am sure that my Corel program can do the trick though. I just don't know how and don't want to rescan multiple dpi's every single time. I only need the archives and then get the smaller dpi when needed.

Aug 31, 2011PSP X3 Not Responding, I had to terminate PSP ... I accidentally picked the Picture Tube tool, and then picked the adjacent Fill tool that I really wanted to use. The problem was that PSP was updating the Picture Tube cache, and was still in process at 98% and then hung! Not responding, killing the photo loader process not enough, so lost my current image edits. Not so good!

Jul 17, 2012PSPX4's change to target tool has never worked right for me. I have X2 which does work right. In PSPX4 no matter what the setting it applies way too much color. Even at 1% opacity it is like about 80% in PSPX2 with all settings the same.
Latest updates installed. PSPX4 still does not like Adobe LR4 JPEGs when resaving them, although I now get an error message instead of a save that loses the file for good as some 4-8k sized file that can't be opened. I still have to use X2 for those two reasons.

Jul 3, 2013 If I'm creating a batch "text" for a number of files the strangest thing happens. I have to change 10 files all with the same or very close to the same pixel size. In this case 1024Lx . I want to insert a "copyright" text across the image. I create the action, that includes: text, text size of18pts and opacity. and then batch.
The resulting font sizes are very uneven. They are all show up in the individual files as 18 pt but some are invisiblley small some are gigantically large and some are just right. And my name's not Goldilocks. I've tried this on PS3 and PS6 with the same results.

Mar 10, 2013In the past I created a picture with multiple objects (rectangles, colors, text labels, lines,...). As far as I remember I saved it with PSP vX2 into a *.psd file. This kind of file stores not only the final picture but the intermediate manipulation steps/layers as well.
Ok, now, some months later, I want to resume the picture design process.Therefore I started PSP vX2 and load the mentioned *.psd file. Much to my surprise I found no way to e.g. select a certain text line shown at the bottom of the picture and to edit it (again).
How does this work? Do I have to tell PS somehow "re-tokenize all layers" ?
Maybe (I am not sure) the *.psd file was saved by Photoshop and not by PSP. Does this matter? Are *.psd files compatible between Photoshop and PSP? Can I find out the previously saving program? I can imagine that this is somehow stored in the header of the *.psd file.
