Paint Shop Pro :: Current Way To Split / Combine And Add Specific Channels
Sep 24, 2013
Working on some game development and purchased PSP Ultimate recently right before it changed to version 6 and received email saying account would be deleted if I didn't post, though I normally cut down on uneccessary postings as much as possible to keep clutter down and be as reasponsible as possible I might as well bring up some questions in form of new posts I had forgotten about earlier.
One of them is what is the best way to Split RGBA so I can work with them similiar to Adobe Photoshop in Layers and then Add information to a specific channel such as the Alpha Channel and re-merge back into a single RGBA file all within Paint Shop Pro so if I am needing to put the data in Alpha channel and the engine I'm using requires it to be there it would read it that way?
Just lost an important photo. When I open X5, I select a photo. I click on one of the "Instant effects" The photo changes to whatever I selected. The problem. if I don't like it, that's tuf as the go back button does nothing 9 times out of 10 ("revert current editing") so, to get the original back I close X5 expecting to get the message "Save changes to xxxxx. No it seems it has saved it to whatever effect I chose.... no turning back it seems.
I am using Paintshop Pro X2. I've created a script that goes something like this.
1. Save original size as jpg in folder 1. 2. Resize 50% 3. Save as jpg in folder 2. 4. Resize 100x77 5. Save as jpg in folder 3. 6. Close file.
Everything works great except for one thing. During the save as operations the script remembers the original file names from when I record the script. Is it possible to replace that old static file name in the script with the file name of the current image?
Occasionally I want to improve contrast and sharpness of *.jpgs in my PSP X2. So I created a Script (in sub folder Scripts-trusted) with the following parameters
Brightness= -28 Contrast= 28 Sharpen
Ok, now I assume I set in Brightness/Contrast dialog (=independently from Script) the current values (just for example) to:
Brightess = 35 Contrast = 35
Afterwards I start running my Script. What happens?
The Brightness/Contrast Dialog pops up with the -28/28 values from my script prompting me for a OK confirmation.
After that my Script is performed. Much to my surprise the Script values are now PERMANENTLY set in Brightness/Contrast dialog as new values.
How can I (when running a script):
a) suppress the brightness/contrast dialog b) Leave the current/old brightness/contrast dialog values untouched by my Script. They should stay at 35/35
I'm trying to get a script to use a fill foreground I've selected. I can get it ask me to select the foreground color but it always saves the foreground color used when I save the script. I can't figure out how to get it to use the current foreground color.
Right now my program opens to the "manage" screen. I changed it way back when, due to freezing issues. It's freezing more and more now and just recently started showing a HUGE preview screen on the right. Not sure what I did to cause this but I'd like to change it back to opening to the Edit screen.
I am looking to cut some pictures out with the specific dimensions of 960x350. I am using the cropping tool (free form), but it does not show me what the dimensions are as I drag it across.
Anyway to set a crop to that size and then I can just move it around the picture till I have it just where I want it?
We are recording in two languages, one in left and the other in right channel. However, in Adobe Premiere Pro we are not able to split the track when we take up for rought cut. Both the tracks are found mixed. Since we need to maintian the split track to dubb into other languages.
how to distribute vector or raster evenly within a specific part of my canvas, i can get it done evenly to the width of the canvas. for example i want about 4 rectangles in just a section of my canvas at the same distance from each other.
I am starting a new threads about bumpmaps and FSX because a. I have used the wrong language for you to answer me and b. the old post provoked heated debate, which I didn't want.
OK, the answer to generating bumpmaps is that I have to move the red channel (copy?) it into the alpha channel - how do I do that? Corel is obviously not a graphics tool that is aimed at my brain... and not the way I like to think and I am missing something here.
Once I have moved the red channel contents to the alpha, I can flood fill the red with black and the blue with white - that is fine and I can do that.
Now I have to save the RGB plus alpha - for FSX use I need to save in ddsx mode - or convert to dds using "Imagetool" or "DXTBmp" - I guess saving as TGA would do the trick? Is there a better RGBA format?
I would like to save only one of the color channels, for example the magenta channel of my .tiff image. How do I do that? Every time I save my image I just get a grayscale image, even though I'm able to see the magenta channel just fine.
I have worked with adobe Photoshop cs5 and know that it can do a great job with masking hair through the use of channels and its quick select tool. Can Photo Paint X5 do the same.
I'm brand spanking new to paint.net and I have a question. I have 2 photos that I want to place side-by-side, combined into one image. One will need to be resized to be the same size as the other so the edges will match up. I don't need to do anything else to them, just stick them together and print it as one image.
I've had a simple lisp I've been using for years that suddenly disappeared. It required that you identify a block name, tag name, and the value that you want the tag to be. All of this is performed via command line, so it is scriptable. Since I lost it, I've been experimenting with -attedit. This command comes frustratingly close to what I'm looking for, except it only appends an existing tag, or replaces a specific string within the tag; I can't get it to replace the entire tag, regardless of its value.
1> Any lisp routine that does what I describe? or 2> How to make -attedit replace a tag value without regard to what the value currently is (like a * wildcard)?
I've been having a hard time googling this question as it's hard to put in bite-size words. I'm looking for an easy way to take the alpha levels of each pixel on one layer, and then combine that with the color levels of each pixel on another layer. Let me give you an example. I want to take the alpha levels of image 1, replace the colors with the colors of image 2, and be left with image 3 (Only no background, because the alpha level should be zero!)

I achieved the effect you see in image 3 by using the "difference" blending, and then inverting the image. Problem is, I've still got the gradient as a background which doesn't really work because that icon needs to sit on anything.
I've been using paint.net as is for years and never even knew downloadable plugins for it exist till now. I suddenly find myself drowning in things my beloved paint program can do. I like this effect and wonder if there is a plug in for it.
This website has an online tool that creates it [URL]
Im hoping i can get the look in paint.net. I've got some totally sweet results glitching some of my landscape pictures of the desert but it wond render anything large enough to use as wallpaper.
What are they used for? I have been using PS for around 3 years primarly for web design and I have never used channels outside of loading a selection. I searched for more info; I mostly got tutorials that use alpha channels, but no real explanation as to what they primarly do.
I made all my polygons with the same technique but somehow interactive polygon split tool does not split all polygons... I attached a file with which I have problem. Split tool just "disappears" after submitting changes...
Just came upon an error I had not seen before. Though PSP no longer supports Animation Shop, up until PSP X4, the user has been able to export frames back to PSP from Animation Shop. Now, this no longer works! There's still some communication there, because an error message - which, incidentally, makes absolutely no sense at all - is generated in PSP X4:
I installed PSP X4 today on a new PC with Windows 7 and noticed that it has no Animation Shop. Can I install Animation Shop to this machine? Will it work without PSP 9 or does it need certain dlls from PSP 9 ? I really want to be able to use Animation Shop again.
I am finding some inconsistencies when using tools provided in Paint.NET.
For 2 examples, I'll simply describe the behavior of the Escape key.
-----------
Exhibit A:
I would like to use Text to type in some letters with different colors. What I would do is press T (shortcut key for Text), select a color, type a letter, press ESC, nothing happened, click somewhere else, click back to the letter, select a different color, type a letter, ESC, nothing happened, repeat...
After I'm done, I press ESC again with nothing happening, and press a different shortcut key to continue editing, like O (shortcut key for Line/Curve).
Exhibit B:
I would like to draw a circle and a line. After finish typing, I press O four times to use the Ellipse tool, draw a circle, and then press ESC. Nothing happened. Next, I press O once to use the Line tool, start drawing a line, and then press ESC. At this point, my drawn line is canceled for good, and I need to either use Redo to recover it, or redraw the line again.
------------
Here I present to you these two exhibits. Notice that sometimes, pressing ESC does nothing other than jumping back to cursor, and sometimes cancelling the action that was done.
Would it be possible if the Escape key has a consistent action throughout all of the tools?
I'm trying to use it instead of my photoshop «not very legal» version.
There is a feature I really like in Photoshop and GIMP which is the ability to draw a line using pen/brush/eraser/any tool using the SHIFT modifier key. This really miss me in Paint.NET. You click somewhere, you move the cursor elsewhere, holding SHIFT you click again, and (using the tool you currently have selected) a perfect line is drawn between the two points.
I'd like it, if an image is re-sized to the same percentage as the current zoom level, afterward the zoom is automatically switched to 100%
Typically, if I have an image too big for it's intended use, I'd adjust the zoom until I get it to appear the right size, then resize it to the zoom level. (I imagine many people do the same thing). However, after resizing, the view of the image is really tiny, since the old zoom level is now being applied to the smaller image.
Is there a macro/script/deisel that will automatically print a pdf (cute pdf autocad lt 2007) to current plot settings in current drawing directory and give it the current drawing view name and number? Disk space not a problem these days and would save time to have a pdf copy of all drawing tabs readily stored in the directory ready for issue.
Technique that can check the current plotter name for the current tab and assign it to a variable? i.e. can it be assigned to a variable to check if if equals "myplotter1". The next step - is there a technique to change the plotter name to "myplotter2.pc3".
I have partially done the latter part of this in the past using the -plot command line to ASSIGN a new plotter but I would really like to only run the routine if it really needs to.
I have 1 Next button that is used on the timeline. Each position has a pause then a play so there is only 1 button. I need to get the label info so I know where I am so I can save the location of the timeline that the user was at if they exited before they finished the process.
