Well, I had need something that had put the layers in a random order.. I show a picture so ya see (each "big pixel" is a layer.Tried to make them look randomized, but it didn't went that well.
View 16 RepliesI use CDX5 to run our laser engraver. A customer brought us in some plastic sheet he'd like us to laser into small little "lenses" that go over LEDs. These little lenses are roughly .5" square with one radiused corner. The material isn't cheap, so of course the customer wants to minimize waste - I can't spread them out.
I just ctrl-D duplicate them into a tightly packed array and send to the laser... Unfortunately, the material isn't very laser-friendly. It sucks up a lot of heat and starts to bulge, which takes the laser out of focus. I can get decent results by doing a few at a time, but that causes too much waste. If I try to do to many in one area, the bulging leads to ruined parts.
Is there a convenient way in CD to randomize the order of objects? If the laser would cut one over here, then another over there, etc, I think the heat buildup would no longer be a factor, and I wouldn't have to babysit the machine. I thought about doing it manually in Object Manager but, ugh, there are like 384 pieces in the layout.
Change the order of layers I have created. So they sit on top of each other, in a different order.

I have browsed the web for two days and found nothing that helps me. The crux of the issue is that i get to a point where i have applied maybe three adjustment layers and then aaply say a sharpening layer only to find i cannot see its effect on the image due to its order in the stack.
I have a quick question. When I use the layer control dropdown menu, the layers do not appear in alphabetical order like they do in Layer Manager.
Is there a way to fix this?
Is there are tool somewhere where you can make the draw order layer specific. I.e so we have a layer with a certain number of items on it that always appear above another layer with other types of items.
We tend to use leaders a fair bit and they often drop below some of our design elements, ideally we want them to be at the front & have to spend time bringing to front / sending to back etc.
I can't find where to set the display order of layers. I have lines that display under a PDF underlay but I can't drag the layer above the others. They appear to be in alphabetical order, which, while frustrating, I can live with if AC will allow me to easily move layers around some other way.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have used Gimp for years and today I simply cannot move layers. In the layers dialog I usually drag the layers into the desired order but for no reason the layers simply float back to their original position. I have tried;
- Clean install of gimp
- Opening various gimp files (xcf)
- Creating new xcf files
The layers are not;
- Locked
- Floating

I'm working on a book that has watermark on all pages and jpegs too of a4 size. Working in earlier version [x5], I used to overlap all the watermarks which was located in master layer. When I used to import a fresh jpeg on new pages, the watermark went below the jpegs. What i used to do was create a new master layer and then cut pasted the watermark in that layer, and the watermark came above the jpegs in the pages that were added later. In CorelDRAW x6 this i'm not able to do.
The watermark remains bottom of the jpeg, no matter what i do. if i edit the same file in version X5, it works fine and then i get it into x6 and do rest of stuff it works fine. The watermark problem still exists.

I have 6 layers in a comp, and I'm taking them across, via copy/paste, to another comp. Each second layer is an Alpha channel for the one below it. However when they're pasted into the next comp they ALWAYS are reversed, or randomly resorted, ruining everything about their blends and alpha relationships with one another.
Why does After Effects do this? Is there a way to prevent it from happening?
This doesn't just happen in this instance, I've noticed it nearly always happening when pasting multiple layers.
Adjusted to the active object layer top / below forward / after layer.The active layer is adjusted to page top / below, forward / after layer.

When I put my DSLR memory card into my computer the files appear in order in Windows Explorer, but when I double click a photo, Corel Instant Viewer opens but the thumbnails are no longer in order according to their file numbers. Some will be in order, but earlier (lower file numbers) files will be sprinkled throughout seemingly at random. I can't figure out how the viewer decides to arrange them or how I can make it display my files in the order in whidch they were shot. What am I missing?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI want to print multiple documents with a duplex printer, so I need to set the order in which the documents are sent to the printer. In the Print dialog box, when I select "Documents" in the "Print range", I can select the documents to print, but I cannot set the order in which they're printed. I appears that the order is in reverse alphabetical (how logical!). As far as I can tell, the only way to determine the order is to rename the files (using Save As). Interestingly, if I "Save As" a pdf or "Publish to PDF", the documents are in the order in which they were loaded or created.
If you're going to offer the ability to print or export multiple documents as a single file, it seems that there should be some way to order the documents first.
Trying to figure out the best way to control the random movement of objects..
Imagine a row of 10 spheres, positioned right beside each other in one long orderly chain. I want to make these spheres move about randomly in space. A perfect way is to use a position and rotation noise controller on each one with a separate seed. Great no problem.
But I would like to animate the noise of the spheres as if I had a volume select over all of them together, so that all the spheres would not move and stay still until I animate or move the gizmo box of the volume select. So as the gizmo box leaves the sphere, the noise controllers would be activated.
I could place a soft selection to the volume select so that it would be a smooth transition between noise and calm.
Now I understand volume select only control vertices and noise controllers control the object in space so I dont think they would work with each other but IS there some other method that I am missing that I can use to achieve this result??

I have a rectangle (Named "Data") that falls down the stage on a loop. This is all contained within the symbol itself. The stage has this code in it:

var randShouldWait;
var randSpeed;

This creates a nice looking randomized "shifting" as the block falls. The issue is that this code is specifically related to the "Data" object and when I duplicate the symbol it names it "Data_1" which obviously doesn't shift randomly. The goal is to have this expandable to have dozens of these rectangles at once, so Ideally I'd like to find a way to create new ones programmatically that each have individualized behavior so my timeline isn't so busy.
Does the paintbucket require something specific in order to fill? I am drawing shapes with the pen tool but I can't fill them with the paintbucket. What am I missing and what are the alternatives? Is there a way to fill the pen-drawn shape with textures that will look like topography?

View 2 Replies View RelatedHere I have several concentric squares in an uninterrupted stack.I moved the topmost (small orange) one vertically.I then went to the Alignment panel, selected all the squares and clicked on the one I moved.Then I clicked on Vertical Distribute Center.
The right hand picture shows what happened.One of the squares (that big orange one) near the bottom of the stack shot up so that its centre was above the centre of the topmost one in the stack.The centres are evenly distributed but why is the stacking order not controlling the order in which the squares are arranged?
Fortunately the positioning of that big orange square was easy to correct, but something tells me this is not the way things are supposed to happen.Seemingly this does not always happen. I have tried the method on several stacks. Some were o.k., others showed similar behaviour to the above.
I am trying to make one image the background, and put others on top of it,I removed the background, but it still isn't showing..I also looked for a move layer down button but I can't find it.
View 5 Replies View RelatedWhenever you open up paint.net, it always has one white-background layer as the default layer.
Then i start drawing and after a while i realize "if i did this on transparent background i could reuse it in so many places!". So i either have to manually erase the white background carefully around every corner or restart drawing.
It would be good if the default was two layers, one white background layer and one empty layer where you start drawing. I know it's super simple to just create a new one manually when you start, but i'm often in such a rush when opening up to start drawing that i always forget.
