Paint.NET :: PAL Support / Expansion Of Color Palette?
Feb 3, 2011
I'm a GP2 modder and as of now I'm using just PDN for edeting cars and stuff. GP2 has its own pallette of 256 colors.
Is it possible to load a *.pal-file into PDN? And is there a awy to expand the color-pallette shown in the color window? Is it also possible to save .*bmp with one special 256 pallette?

Is there any way with 3.5.8 to name the color inside the palette so the selected color name will display somewhere in the palette (if a name exists)? If not, then as a feature request for version 4; when the user hovers over the color with their mouse cursor, a small pop up will display at the cursor tip with the color name listed in a palette file comment. This feature would allow for quick color selection by name for projects that are color name specific/customer color specific. The current process of referencing a palette text file RGB code list with commented description, then entering the required RGB codes for each color needed can be a bit time consuming for larger projects.

Attached is the popup that displays whenever I hover over a color with the dropper. This "SHOULD NEVER SEE!" is what appears.I have used X3 since it was released, and today is the first time this has happened, and it won't go away.
I've closed psp, re-booted the computer, then opened psp. No change.I reset the workspace to default, which sometimes fixes issues, but again, no luck.

I just got Paint dot net and started painting a picture right away. Now I want to use a color from the picture (in the same picture) but don't know how. After reading a bit, I realize I should have saved it in a palette. Is there any way to retrieve and use a color in a current picture that was not saved to a palette?

I must have accidently hit something and changed things.
text- learning center says- choose color from foreground pallette. Choose color from background pallette.
type your text....etc.
My foregorund pallette is X'd out (i.e. a circle with a slash through it). I have this also when trying todraw a poly like a circle or rectangle.
Also background eraser does not erase fully anymore.

I scanned a document into PSP X5 and I am trying to use the materials palette to highlight (in red) certain spots on the document. The palette defaults to grey shades only. I reset the workspace to factory defaults and even tried the SHIFT-START - without luck. However, if I open any color images, the palette shows full color options. if this is a problem with how I scanned the document into PSP X5?

Is there a way to apply a color to selected objects without having to search for the color in the color palette. So say if I am working with an image that has multiple colors but want to use only one of the colors in that image, is there a way to apply it without having to create or add it to the palette.

When I create a shape with a Pantone Color and then decrease the opacity in the color swatch palette, then go to my swatches palette and select "Select All Unused Colors" it highlights the pantone color being used in the file. In previous version, it never did this. This is for CS6. Any know fix for this?

How I choose a color for any new objects I want to create. I've opened the toolbox with ctrl-b, which appears on the left side of the window. If I want to , for example, draw a red rectangle, I use the rectangular selection tool, then the bucket fill, and I don't see how to change the foreground color to red.
I've read elsewhere in the forum that there should be two rectangles somewhere on the screen that show foreground and background color, but I don't see them anywhere.

Working in Illustrator CS5 on a Mac. When choosing a color in the palette, the preview showing up is different than what is in the palette. If I hit "OK" the actual color chosen is the one in the palette, not the preview window... Including some pics for reference. In my 10+ years of using Illustrator, i have never seen this.I am using a Dell monitor on a mac... not sure if that would make a difference.

I am currently undertaking a project creating A1 posters displaying numerous archive pictures from of where I work.
I have got the poster design etc sorted and all is going well.
To each archive pic I'm using I am adding a small off-white border much as a lot of old photo's have. The method I have been using to do this is simple. I have created a large document with my off-white paper texture covering the whole area, using this document I perform the following steps
1) drag archive pic into my off-white document
2) create a selection slightly bigger all round than the pic
3) copy the background and paste it to a new layer
4) link the new layer to the pic layer
5) merge the linked layers and rename resulting layer suitably.
This technique works perfectly for what I want though is somewhat time consuming. As such I have created an action so all I have to do is drag each archive pic into my document and run the action.
This is where I am having a bit of a problem. as each archive pic is a different size I needed to think of an automated way to make the selection I desired. To do this I used the following steps in the action:
1) using the magic wand, select the transparent area of the archive pic layer, thus selecting everything except the pic
2) invert the selection so the pic is selected
3) expand the selection by 16 pixels
4) repeated step 3 (this is due to the size of the pics I'm using.
This works ok, but I want sharp corners, but when using the expand selection tool, the corners become rounded off, can anyone think of a way around this?
At the end of the day I can use the action very quickly put a border round each pic and then I'll just have to either crop them so the corners are sharp or something, which won't take too long, but it would be nice to not have to do this.

I've been working with needs to be able to use RLE formatted BMPs... unfortunately, simply changing things to 256-color BMPs doesn't work (it shuffles the colors for some reason), and I can't just use the vastly superior PNG due to how the software works.
Any plugins that allow me to work with RLE formatted BMP?

ou have to hover over the image to see the real images. The images embedded in the webpage have their profiles stripped -- just like photoshop does! Interesting.how photoshop doesn't support color profiles in png's.
But now I have a great one.this is with the correct color profile and displays correctly in firefox and probably other browsers -- also displays correctly on windows desktop and in large-icon view.
Ok, grab that image and try to read it into photoshop..I do, and get no warning on profile mismatch like I do on jpg's or tiff's:photoshop strips the existing profile and adds sRGB which isn't the correct profile. This is how photoshop transforms good colors into bad:
Completly screwed up.I have had multiple people notice how my png saved images from photoshop had "off" or bad colors -- usually washed out in comparison w/my monitor profile.I can get 'ok' results if I flatten the image and *convert* my existing profile to sRGB -- and I usually get something that looks 'acceptable'...though the jpg's render in accurate color.
Basically, photoshop can't read or write png web images. and maintain color fidelity unless they have no profile. Even if they have an sRGB profile, I usually get washed out looking pics if I don't strip it but let adobe convert it.
In googling for my own problem, I found references to this problem in Adobe Photoshop going back to 2002.They could fix it with a file plugin for existing CS5-6 users, but it really needs to get fixed and Adobe needs to stop ignoring this problem.I find this extra depressing because I prefer to distribute my pictures losslessly in png, but with photoshop, I'm left with lossy jpegs to get accurate color reproduction.

I wonder if there's a support for 30 bit color-capable displays (with compatible graphics card and driver, of course...) in Lightroom 4...
I have a NEC PA241W monitor and FirePro 5800 graphics card at my workplace --> which work well with 30 Bit color depth in Adobe PS CS5.0.4.
Since Lightroom 4 requires an "OpenGL 2.0" compatible graphics card it's obvious, that OpenGL is used now (I think LR3 didn't..?). If LR4 is able to handle 30(48) bit color depth(?)

.pdn is format for working project. Sometimes to some elements in workspace need to add extra metadata(ex.: font style and size, another example - in case of color with alpha - thectly color definition, in some cases - describe object relation.)All this stuff exist in adobe reader. All what need - copy functionality to Paint.NET.

Some friends noticed that the text tool does not support RTL languages meaning that mixing Hebrew and English text together making the text almost unreadable.
Hebrew, Arabic and several other languages are written from right to left, as such there are several adjustments that should be made, unicode has a special definition for characters that are written in that direction, punctuation symbols are context related, lets say I want to write some text and the general directionality is LeftToRight, it should look something like that:
The reason that dot is in the beginning and not at the end is that I wrote the complete sentence just like it should look like but since that last symbol has no RTL unicode character after it the symbol is acting like an LTR symbol like the environment itself for the current line or text box.

Has native scanner support for 64-bit Windows been added to X4, or is it still necessary to purchase a 3rd-party driver (VueScan)? I ask because my copy of X3 is sitting on the shelf unused due to lack of scanner support, however Photoshop Elements 8 is working with the Canon scanner with no issues. It is time to upgrade one of these products and lack of scanner support is a deal breaker for me.

I am fairly new to civil 3d (currently using 2012) and have been tasked with designing a proposed landfill cap. The end goal i am looking to achieve is to dertermin the amount of fill that can fit within a footprint. If approved i would then design a haul road and swales. I understand the basics of grading however i have run in to a few issues while attempting this. Let me describe what i have tried so far.
-Obtained existing contours and created a surface out of this.
-Obtained proposed footprint extents
-Attempted "grade to elevation" using the footprint to grade up to an elevation using a 3:1 slope. Learned this tool does not work as i expected and abandoned this idea
-Attempted "grade to surface" using a 3:1 slope and a top footprint with an assigned elevation.
The final step i believe is creating what i want however the surface is not very "clean". Here is an example of what i mean; [URL]....... Is my feature line not simple enough or is my existing surface perhaps too complex?

I've made a pattern brush that I'm using to simulate a woods line for a boardgame map:
Shown above is the unstroked bounding box as well. To use this brush, I draw an outline of a woods mass with the pencil tool, then apply the brush and Expand Appearance. At that point I'm hoping the brush sections will join into one closed path so that I can fill it with a woodsy green, but instead the fill gets applied to each section of brush independently:
The join points seem fine - it's not like the two ends of the brush don't line up at all: EDIT - Actually, that's not just one point in the middle there - that's the ends of both paths lying almost on top of each other. It's possible to separate the two and then ctrl-J join them. Problem is, I want that single path automatically.
So how to get Illustrator to treat the resulting path as one closed path instead of a compound path?

X4 SP2 is supposed to add RAW support for the Canon S100 and Panasonic FZ150 cameras (I own both.) However, after installing SP2 neither of these RAW file formats can be edited. I tried dumping the Temp folder, but no joy. I tried calling Tech. Support and all I get is "Tech Support is not Available at this time." In the middle of the work day?! The About popup says I'm running Ver. 14.2.0.1. I'm not sure the update has taken.
