I have been trying to make a forum signature, and I am using an effect that as a "side effect" makes the background black.
Is it is possible to turn the black background into transparency using a PDN feature or a plugin?
I have a JPG which is a black and white line drawing I want to drop this on a collage where the line drawing shows, but the background must be transparent so other things come through. Essentially, I want to turn the color [ or lack thereof] white to be transparent, and black to be black.
How to do this, or if it can be done.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a jpeg image of a motorcycle on a pure yellow background. I want to make the yellow transparent. Naturally there are a lot of spaces within the motorcycle image that contain yellow.
I followed instructions I found...
Removing the background of an image
1) add an alpha channel to your layer
2) use colors/color to alpha and use the background color
This results in the checkerboard being applied to the motorcycle, not the yellow background. I assume that's okay.
This makes all the pixels with the background color transparent, and those with a close color partially transparent.
Then:
- select the background with the magic wand,
- grow the selection by a couple of pixels to ensure that the border of the sprite is in the selection (the most important work of color-to-alpha is on the border pixels, so they shouldn't be protected)
This selects only the area outside the bicycle, but I don't mind reselecting smaller areas, if I can.

I have A background Image I want to make transparent how would I do this I know how to make the background behind the image transparent but not the image its self.
I want to be able to make the whole thing transparent/translucent.
I do have this in png but it is 2.5 meg and only aloud to post up to 256k
I didn't realized that as I'm importing images, the 'background' was defaulting to white. I'm working a couple images right now, in which the transparent setting is really needed. I found where to change the default, but not how to change it for existing images in PS already.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a brother printer that no longer prints the magenta ink. I have tried and tried to fix it, and cannot figure it out. So, Since i would like to continue using the printer, and still need to print in color, I was hoping maybe there would be a way to remove the red from a picture before i color it.
Now, i understand it is more complicated than just finding all the red in a photo and simply removing it or changing the color. Any color that the printer needs Magenta ink to print is going to come out funny, unless I can find a way to change any color that would require the magenta ink.
is it possible to change e.g. the picture this one in that way, that the basic color is lightblue, so I mean there is no other color than lightblue and the contures?

I remember that I could select a freeform area by just clicking several dotted/dashed flickering points around the border so the lines were straight afterwards, when the dots were connected again. After that I could fill this area up with a transparant coulour. Now, off course, I can't seem to find how I did it.

I can of course select everything around the image and delete it, but the pixels near the edge are a combination of a colour and the background colour. I have a colored object, and I have a specific swatch of color that I need to change the current color of the object to. The problem I'm having is that the specific color that I'm trying to apply to the object doesn't look integrated with the object itself, it just looks like I've applied a color film over it. It's milky-looking and there's not enough contrast. I've tried adjusting levels, using different blending modes, using the Match Color command ..I can't seem to keep the integrity of the color I'm applying to the object, while still keeping the integrity of the details of the object itself. How should I tackle this using multiple layers and blending modes, and so the new color looks integrated and believable?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI've had a simple lisp I've been using for years that suddenly disappeared. It required that you identify a block name, tag name, and the value that you want the tag to be. All of this is performed via command line, so it is scriptable. Since I lost it, I've been experimenting with -attedit. This command comes frustratingly close to what I'm looking for, except it only appends an existing tag, or replaces a specific string within the tag; I can't get it to replace the entire tag, regardless of its value.

This is probably really basic but... I'm a printer and only really use Photoshop for changing RGB to CMYK, clear cutting (with Vertus fluid mask) and things like that. However a lot of the photos I have to clear cut have been done already but not saved (or given to me to use) with the transparency still there. Is there some easy way to turn all the white pixels into transparency? Obviously you'd have to mask any white pixels in the image you wanted to keep. A sample is attached.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI tried searching the forums for "Transparent Grid" and "Transparent Hex", but I could not find anything.I would like to create an image which is a Transparent Grid or Hex which I could lay over other images, like maps for roleplaying games.
I tried to use the eraser tool to remove all the white space from the image "TransparentHexes.png" (see attached). It was long and labor intensive, but when I tried to copy the image and lay it over another image, it removed the transparent parts and made them white space again, completely covering the underlaying image.
Perhaps there is a way to use the "Paint Bucket" to replace white with transparent? And how do I lay a mostly transparent grid over another image?
I have a layer that is all white with text and some shapes (with heavy anti-aliasing, so the alpha channel variations of white, too) and I am trying to convert it to a specific other color (just a cream color that I have the HTML code for).
So, when a layer is all one color (not counting variation in alpha values), is there a technique to change that to a specific other color, rather than just toggling the "Color Balance" to get an approximation?
I am trying to turn an icon into a transparent icon. The icon has a shadow layer in gray scale.
I can set the shadow layer to multiply and put a colored layer under it and have the shadow appear properly, but when I try to put it over a transparent background, Photoshop turns the white pixels in the shadow visible. How can I get it to treat the layer as a black layer with different degrees of transparency?
So Ive learned how to turn a color photo to B&W with spot color ...how to turn a color photo sepia, but also spot color. I have a wedding photos that I think would be a fun shot to play mixing those colors together . I have searched for the info earlier today and wasnt successful .
