I can start LR : but it gives immedidately the screen : unexpected error opening catalog, when I choose 'choose a different catalog' : he aks me to select a recent catalog to open, but this doesn't work en I neither can check the integrity of the catalog. Is there any possibility to do a repair of the program without losing my material from before ?  When I search .ircat I can' t find any files. Â

View 9 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded to LR4 (on OS X 10.7.4), but this problem was also present in the previous version.I usually move photos around using the OS X Finder (as sometimes they are outside my Lightroom catalog). To make the updates available in Lightroom I've always used the "Synchronize Folder" option. It did work perfectly for some time, but lately that is not the case.For example, here's a folder called "Parents".I added some photos to it using Finder, then tried to sync it.
Normally Lightroom would find the new files and allow me to import them. What happens here is that Lightroom wants to remove all the photos that already exist in the folder (and Lightroom catalog) and then re-import all of them + the new ones.
First I tried to select "Import new photos -> Show import dialog" and import only the new photos. That didn't work, too. (Please see the image below; however in this sample I've chosen to import/remove all of them).

As you can see Lightroom re-imports the folder as a top-level folder, but it should be a subfolder to "Other". When I try to move it manually to "Other" I get an error message that tells me that I can't do that as a folder with the same name is already there.
I purchased and upgraded to Lightroom 4.0. Got things to work fine with some ACR updates for Photoshop CS3 that I'm currently using. Now have ACR 4.6 installed (the latest for my version of PS) as well as ACR 6.7.

I was able to make edits to the DNG RAW files in Lightroom 4.0 and then choose Edit in Photoshop (Command-E) and see those changes in a PSD file in Photoshop, where I could make further changes.

All of a sudden, I went to edit a photo in Photoshop and saw the original DNG file with no Lightroom edits. Some tinkering and update to Lightroom 4.1 but nothing can seem to make it show those Lightroom edits now when I go to Photoshop.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've just purchased a NAS hard drive system to basically transfer and store my 'finished' work from Lightroom and Photoshop. In reading the manual for Lightroom, am I correct in thinking that the NAS server cannot be a 'catalog' ?? I basically just want to correctly transfer across my finished files for storage there rather than on my main computer hard drive - and hence free up space on main computer. I'm just not sure of the process in how to go about this correctly? I still want to be able to access these finished files in case I need to revist something - but happy for them to be off the main computer?

My problem is that I now find that LR4 greys out the detail and color sliders for Luminance and color noise reductionas if they are process 2003 photos. That is, I do not have access to the detail and color for the noise reduction section.

I can only assume this is a bug or that Adobe have changed the Noise reduction engine.
So why did you remove the possibility to correct ca manually?

I use Adobe Lightroom 4.3 64bit and am having problem with a corrupt catalog. The catalog contains a couple years of exposures with approx 87,000 photographs. I am running LR on Win 7 with quad core CPU and 10Mb RAM. I have used Lightroom for couple years and only problems I had experienced have been intermittent performance issues with LR. The years of photographs are in RAW format with editing in Develop module.

I was using Lightroom 4.3 and it froze the computer while using develop module. I had to power off to reboot and LR catalog was corrupted. I reverted to the LR backup (I back up daily). After importing photographs, LR once again froze the computer during Develop work. And, another backup was corrupted.

I went ahead and upgraded to LR 4.4 in hope that this will improve the situation. I ran chkdsk and other system utilities as well.I need Adobe to repair this corrupt catalog so I don;t keep wasting my time.
I am using Lightroom 3.4.1 and Windows 7. Upon shutting Lightroom down I got a message that Lightroom was unable to backup my catalog until it was repaired. When I reopened Lightroom it gave me the option to repair the catalog. The repair was "successful" and Lightroom opened as usual. However, the history panel of every single picture is blank BUT the pictures did retain my Lightroom changes. How to get that back? I do have a catalog backup but it does not include the work I just finished as I was shutting down Lightroom. I also have all my RAW files as well as their sidecar files.

I have tried deleting this file (trashing it on my MAC OS 10.8.4) but each time I try to open I get the same message and the .lock file reappears. I did not back-up my catalog so I only have my Lightroom 3 catalog to restore from.

Actually there are 41 files with this message. They happened on one day; all other days the files had no problem, so I don't think it is a card error. Every day I back up the card twice before deleting files for the next day. All copies have the error problem for that one day. I'm using a Sony a580. On the day in question, the playback function worked and I could see the photos I had taken.

There is lots of software for recovering deleted files, but that's not the problem. I need to fix damage, and although I wouldn't mind paying, I can't find any programs that give you even a hint that they will work without the money down first.
LR3 froze while trying to delete some images. Windows message - LR3 is not responding, Will look for a solution. Close window, I re-downloaded and twice tried to repair, I removed and re-installed. Same result.

I have an iMac, OS 10.6, LR 3.3, just upgraded to 3.5 today when I started having trouble accessing LR. I've been away for 6 weeks, but the rest of the computer works fine. There have been almost no changes/writes done to the HD since my last LR backup (and idiotic deletion of additional b.u. catalogs that were only a couple of months old. A trial version of Data Rescue II found erased files on my HD from years ago but it does not find those older LR b.u. erased files.)

I'm used to work with an ortographic wireframe view and a perspective shaded view (from other 3d app), I've tried to reproduce this in Max, without much success, the problem is switching between the ortographic views, the hotkeys doesn't work properly (the camera never displays what I want after switching) and the ViewCube seems somewhat better, however, when switching views using the ViewCube, sometimes it just doesn't align perfectly with the view so the grid doesn't appear, and I need the grid on the ortho viewport.My install is fully updated. I would like to know if it's possible to make it work properly, if possible with hotkeys. I've already tried to disable the animation, it seems to work a bit, but when I switch to the back view, this bug always pops in.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have designed a the interior walls of a building in Vectorworks. I didn't use the wall tool, no symbols and all the 'walls' have a solid fill.
Once i've imported the dwg/dxf file into 3ds Max I cannot insert simple doors or windows properly. They don't cut through the walls and i cannot place them accurately despite having snaps on.
When I (as I have in Photoshop CS2,3,4,5,5.5 and 6) click in the letting menu and change the letting, it allows me to change it and then when I click enter, it jumps down to a completely different number. I set it to 200 and hit enter and it drop to 19. I change it to 200 again, it becomes 47.Â

There used to be a circle onscreen that you could turn to change the amount of blur. And there were lines and or oval areas that could be made bigger or smaller to influence the area of blur. And while there are still pins that can still be placed to further control the blur, they don't really work. I also have the same problem with the new lighting effects as well.

Something strange happened recently where in order for my Right-Click Menu commands to work properly, and the double click ddedit to work, I had to take the "^C^C" out of the macro. All my related variables are set correctly, PICKFIRST, DBLCLKEDIT, etc...
What is happening is, I would get a selection set, right-click, copy with base point. Normally because the selection set is there, once a base point is selected, the command ends. In this case, after specifying the basepoint, I am asked to select objects again... This goes for ALL right click menu commands. Command line input is NOT affected.
I cannot get PSE 10 organizer to work properly.......I will open the program and then click on the file drop down menu and the organizer will give me an error message that organizer has stopped working......My OS is Windows 7 on a 64 bit system and I had the computer specifically custom built to operate PSE...
