I upgraded my 3.6 catalogue to LR5 and the photos seem to have imported correctly.
I use LR to publish to Flickr but in LR5 I cannot see my photoset in the publish section. Have I done something wrong or do they just not transfer from 3.6?
I cannot remember whether I used 'Open Catalogue' or 'Import from another catalogue' for upgrading.
Upgrading from LR3 to LR4.
The import from another catalog seems to work with getting all my photos in to LR4, however what doesn't come across in the import are all my Collection Sets and the Collections within. It's not across the board. Some come in, but some don't. I've tried a few different ways of importing and the missing collections are different each time.
I use collection sets and smart collections to organize and work through all my jobs. Not having them cross over to LR4 just doesn't work for me. I've optimized, re-exported, re-imported.
I have set up a lot of smart photo sets in the Flick section of the Publish Services panel.
I have a lot of these sets now and they are becoming a bit unwieldly to manage. Is there a way to set up a hierarchy and group a number of sets together? For example could I group together a number of sets that I created in 2012 into a 2012 "folder". I have tried dragging and dropping but this doesn't seem to work.
What are the rules for how elements (specifically, collections and other collection sets) are ordered within a collection set?
I was trying to get a collection to appear at the top of the list of items in a collection set, but it seems to get stuffed below all the other collection sets regardless of the name given to the collection.
Presently, all of my images are stored on windows photo gallery. I have them organized into folders& subfolders. would the same folders and sub folders be exported into lrm as labeled. I know you do this under import mode and add from others. Would it behove me to make sure all of my gallery folders are properly labeled tagged etc. before i do this transfer.When i do the transfer can i rename the folders,re-tag them etc.
View 1 Replies View RelatedOpening my tracklog in LR4 Map (on a PC) plots it with a -5 hr offset, evidently UTC time (I'm on Central Daylight), so the images I shot on the outing won't load to the map. The points on the map in LR show the UTC time, whereas the same track opened in Google Maps shows the correct, local times. On October 3, b_gossweiler looked at ImageDesign704's tracklog and responded "I've removed the timezone inidications on the trackpoints and loaded the tracklog successfully into LR." how to get into a .gpx file and remove those timezone indicationst? My tracklog won't open in Windows.

That way, I email the little ones for clients to peruse, and then send the full-res after they agree to buy. I know I can set up two presets and do them separately, but thought I'd ask.

View 1 Replies View RelatedNow that I've learned to isolate part of a photo using the mat, when I exported what I cut out it was tiny. My original photo was thousands of pixels wide. It reduced the cut out area exported to about 200 x 300 pixels which was a tenth of the size. I read a recent post on importing at same size using the utilities menu and clicking the last bitmap option to import at same dpi, so I did that using another photo so the utilities menu would show, then closed that photo and imported my photo again. But when I exported it to jpg it was tiny again. I checked to see the option in the utilites menu was still set. Is there a limit to picture size? I like to work with large photos so they print well as giclees and photographs. why I can't import and export at the full size .Am I having a problem because the dpi of the original is 72 dpi?

The question is, "Is it possible to completely disable re-scaling image on the import?"
It seems like it has only 2 options, "Fit to project" and "Keep aspect ratio".
What I want is something "Keep source resolution" because when I put an image of a map, which is 2 or 3 times larger than the project resolution, the image become completely useless due to the re-scaling.
Now, again, is there way to ditch this re-scaling?
path for importing photos which have been sent by email from varying sources such as Iphones, Ipads, etc. These photos are easily opened from the email in the Elements 11 Editor mode. However, I have tried a dozen ways to get them moved from Editor to Organizer. Also, I am having difficulty creating a folder for these types of photos. Those that I load from my camera create their own folders which I can rename. The paths I have had to utilize are ridiculously complex.

There is a general folder named "Photos" and within are the sub folders for the photos. I did a simple drag and drop from my computer to the hard drive and expected Lightroom to simple show the new directory in the folder panel.
What would be the simplest way to re-access the files since moving them to the new hard drive?

The difference is about 10,000 photos per the info from Windows Exployer (approx. 175,000 vs 185,000 files). I can view the missing photos in exployer and not in LR4. View 7 Replies View RelatedLightroom stops importing, the progress bar stops moving. After quiting Lightroom and trying to sync the folder it happens again. There are no strange fileformats in the folder, just straight JPG and XMP. This is pretty annoying - such a basic functionality should work out of the box.
I've read that the german character "ß" could be the cause (so every file tagged with German Street Names in it will stop LR from working! Excellent.) – and the release candidate 5.2 should fix the issue. BUT: I am not very fond of installing a release candidate; what happens later, when the final version is released? Does the automatic update function its job? Or do i have to fiddle once more to get the final version working?
I started editing a session on my laptop using LR3. I now want to move them to my desktop and edit them on LR4. (I know I need to make them the same version, but alas...) When I try to import them, they are greyed out and no allowing me to import. I saved them as dng files on a flash drive to move them over.

According to Windows Explorer (and other software) I have over 50,000 graphic files, yet Lightroom will only catalogue about 35,000. One folder for example shows up in Lightroom as having 35 files, Explorer says 394. I try Synchronise and it initially reports "Import new photos 357". Then it reports "Import in progress", then "no files found"!
I try Import and all the photos in that folder are shown greyed out with nothing to import.I tried building a new catalogue but that didn't work. It imported around 35,000 of them only. A second run imported a few more but there are still around 15,000 missing fro the LR catalogue
When I go to the import dialog in Lightroom 5.3 and I select one of my 3 networked hard drives (hosted on a Mac) I can only see the directory structure of one of my drives in lightroom my Y: Drive (for videos) shows up properly, but when I select the X: drive (for Photos) it doesnt show any folders. When i use windows explorer I can see the structure just fine. I have tried selectring. include subfolders.. makes no difference

If i click on the arrow button point right and select other source I can navigate in the popup window to the proper drive / folder but why wont it should up in this winddow
I use a Nikon D800. When I import files from the camera using Nikon Transfer 2, and at the same time try to import files into LR 4.4, LR 4.4 crashes. If I use Bridge to browse files under the same circumstances, it works fine.
I run Windows 8 Pro 64bit. All drivers are upto date as are all software versions. Firmware on the camera is also up to date.
I have LR4 and LR5.
1.How do I transfer the Library (collections, folder, etc.) from LR4 to LR5?
2.Once that is done, how do I import into LR5, the keywords and descriptions as well?
3.Can I also import my LR4 presets to LR5 as well?
