Photoshop Elements :: Importing To Organizer - Use Photo Date Not Import Date
Dec 2, 2013How do I import photos to elements and have it use the photo date, not the import date?
View 3 RepliesHow do I import photos to elements and have it use the photo date, not the import date?
View 3 RepliesI have included both a text and a date as part of the photo caption on each of my photos. When I have attempted to search for a specific date or year, however, nothing comes up. For example, if I search for my photo on "Fido 1985", I can find Fido, but if I simply enter "1985", I get nothing.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've got some 500 photos in a folder which were imported on two different dates. I've created a new album on the right hand side under "Organize" and just the photos I want are in there. When I look at the folder on the right, all the pictures are there. But I can't call up just that folder; instead what I get on my screen is all 2500 photos in all my photo albums! Not what I want! What I want to get is all the photos in the order in which they were taken on the actual day as all 500 photos were taken at the same day. And I want to be able to view just the 500 photos in that folder by the time those pictures were taken. But, when I imported the second batch of photos it showed the date the file was created rather than the date the photo was taken so, basically, I've got one batch of photos showing the date they were taken (which I downloaded via a link a few days later), and one showing the date they were copied!
View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently set up Elements 12. Prior to this I used elements 11. In that catalog I have more photos that I don't want. So I decided to export the ones I want then import into PSE 12. As I do this many of the dates on the pictures change from the date taken to the current date. I have tried several different ways and can't stop the dates changing. I am putting them into mobile albums in PSE 12 if that makes a difference.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have PSE 10 installed on a PC with Windows 7. My camera is a Nikon D90 using a Sandisk 8 gb SD card. When I take photos at different locations on the same date and download them into the Organizer , instead of keeping the photos from the different locations together by location, it jumbles them all up. It does not keep them in order by time taken from first to last for that day , it just mixes them all up in random order.
View 14 Replies View RelatedPrevious versions of PSE have displayed the date/time info for each image in the organiser. PSE 11 doesn't do this. Where I can change settings so that it does - this info is very usefu to me.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIs there a facility that can group all my photos (from multiple device downloads) in a calender form - the way it does on a map when you have a location saved on the photo?
It would be cool if you can select "calender view" and all the photos with the same date are stacked together.
Sometimes (atleast 2 times) when I take photos late, butween about 10-11 PM they are created in a folder with the date for the following day.
Last time this happend was yesterday (2013-06-05). Almost all photos was automaticlly in folder for 2013-06-05 for the import but 10 photos shot between 10.07pm - 10.43pm was put in the folder 2013-06-06.
Im using Lightroom 4.4 Swedish version.
Is it at date/time-proporties in Lightroom which is wrong (not Swedish-time) or what can it be?
I have Photoshop Elements 10.0, I use this software from version 6, but after installation of latest release (10) I have this problem:
when I use IMPORT FROM -> CAMERA MEMORY
I ever selected CREATE SUBFOLDER WITH DATE OF CAPTURE -> FORMAT aaaa mm gg
Now I have the same confguration but the program saves an incorrect date so it puts aaaa gg mm also if I selectd aaaa mm gg
The weird thing is that it renames correctly the single picture so aaaa mm gg is really aaaa gg mm
This is a very big problem because I must rename every single folder manually.
I think that this is a bug of the program (it happens now on a new pc and before on another pc).
In version 10, I could create an album, add photos to it, and then right click on the album name and select "Sort album by photo date", or something like that. This was very convenient when I had more than one source of photos for a certain event, like a vacation. This would change the "album order", which made it very convenient for creating photobooks or other projects where I wanted chronological order. I don't want to view by "Oldest first" in media view 1st before I save the album.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am using PSE10 and I have just upgraded from lion to mountain lion 10.8.2. Previously when I clicked "write keyword tag and properties info to photo" it seemed to just do that. Since the upgrade to mountain lion when I click 'write keyword tag and properties info to photo" it also changes the date the photo was created to the date the info was written to the photo .
How I can get it to write the keyword info *without* changing the date the photo was created?
All of a sudden I notice that when I open a file in Autocad Architecture, it shows the file creation date and not the actual last save date. Only thing I can think of is I reinstalled 3dsmax Design and I wonder if that changed something. I attached a screenshot for reference.

Has it become a possible option to automatically grab the Date-of-shoot (instead of the DAYToday) when renaming files (that should show shooting- date) in LR5?
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhile working with some photos taken this summer, I noticed a strange issue where Organizer is sorting pictures by Date (using Date Created/Oldest) and showing a few pictures at the top under the correct date section (for example July 19th 2011), but then breaks to a new date section indicating July 28th 2011, in which the rest of the pictures in the folder are displaying - even though these pictures are still all from July 19th.
I've attached a link to a screenshot to make it clearer to understand: [URL]

path for importing photos which have been sent by email from varying sources such as Iphones, Ipads, etc. These photos are easily opened from the email in the Elements 11 Editor mode. However, I have tried a dozen ways to get them moved from Editor to Organizer. Also, I am having difficulty creating a folder for these types of photos. Those that I load from my camera create their own folders which I can rename. The paths I have had to utilize are ridiculously complex.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhy does the capture date in the metadata panel not match the capture date seen in the grid extra view and how do I fix it? The images that I have in my library are digitized negatives and I've corrected the capture dates and times to be accurate; however, the capture date and in the metadata window shows what I've changed it to and the date in both the grid extra view and the Metadata>Edit Capture Time... options both reflect the date the image was last modified. Not all of the images in my library are this way and some show the correct information. When sorted by Capture Time, all images fall exactly where they should in the proper order (based on the changed, corrected edit time and not the modified date). I saved metadata to the file with the new date but it didn't fix it.

View 11 Replies View RelatedI found a curious bug in Lightroom 4.2.
If I have pictures taken after 23:00, Lightroom creates an import folder in the next day, but the dates in the files are correct.
Example: The file's date is: 29/11/2012 23:19.
However if I hover my mouse over the image in the import dialog:
The date that appears is 30/11/2012 00:19. Here's the detail:
After you import, you get the image in the wrong import folder, but the meta on the image is correct:
I've started to notice this before, but always thought of a wrong date on my camera. Just noticed that this happens with my camera, iPhone, and any other photo that has a time after 23:00.
I print most of my photos as 4x6 snapshots and keep them in folders for easy viewing. I'd like to be able to print the date in the lower, right corner similar to a photo that's been taken with a camera with a date back. I know this is sacreligious to some, but it's very convenient to have the date where it's readily visible.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I import photos from a CF card plugged into my reader on my PC, Lightroom 4 imports them into a folder showing the previous days date. I am puzzled as the time zones on the camera and PC are both set correctly, and it seems ok if I import directly from my camera but this is a lot slower, and this causes issues if I forget to do it from the camera. I have a Canon 5D mk3 with Firmware (v1.1.3), Windows 8 and Lightroom 4.3.

When I import my photos through lightroom 5, I specify in the metadata to organize by date, (in which it is listed correctly) and choose the destination folder. View 7 Replies View Relatedhow to change one of the entries in TranslatedStrings.txt in order to provide a different/custom destination folder naming scheme for importing.
This definitely worked in some previous versions (a while since I tried it) but in 4.1 it doesn't seem to work -- there is no such file in /Applications/Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4.app/Contents or in the en.lproj subfolder (which seems to be where the non English TranslatedStrings.txt files live).
I won't go into why I need to do this, suffice to say if I can't do it, I'm going to face a tedious process of importing a load of stuff year by year and choosing the destination base folder manually for each year. Which is do-able, it's just a big pain.
I'm using Lightroom 5.2RC. My camera is Sony RX100M2.
Everything was working fine until a few hours ago. Then I noticed that a few shots I took late this evening were being imported into yesterday's folder. So I carefully checked what was going on, and noticed that LR import was seeing an incorrect date and time for the file! For example, below you see the date/time it sees for the first image -- that date/time is wrong.
: LR sees the wrong date/time whether I try to import from camera, from SD card in card slot, or WiFi.
Windows Explorer reads the correct date/time of the files, as does the camera, Playmemories etc. Only Lightroom is seeing a wrong date/time. I even uninstalled LR and reinstalled it, and it's still seeing the wrong date/time in import. I have also formatted my card and took new photos, but same behavior.
