I like to organize my photos by date. When I import my photos through lightroom 5, I specify in the metadata to organize by date, (in which it is listed correctly) and choose the destination folder. However, once I perform the import, it creates a completely separate folder under the year "2012". How can I fix this problem to import under the correct file dates?

when I use IMPORT FROM -> CAMERA MEMORY
I ever selected CREATE SUBFOLDER WITH DATE OF CAPTURE -> FORMAT aaaa mm gg
Now I have the same confguration but the program saves an incorrect date so it puts aaaa gg mm also if I selectd aaaa mm gg
The weird thing is that it renames correctly the single picture so aaaa mm gg is really aaaa gg mm
This is a very big problem because I must rename every single folder manually.
I think that this is a bug of the program (it happens now on a new pc and before on another pc).
When I import photos and video using lightroom, I rename all my files based on date and time using a YYYYMMDD_HHMMSS format. For example:
This works perfectly for photos. That is, the (LR renamed) filename reflects the time the photos was taken (I suppose this is the "capture time"). However, the video time is totally wrong. For example, a video taken at 7PM gets renamed to something corresponding to 1AM.
I notice the following:
- Date/time based renaming of this particular iPhone 4S video works properly in other applications (e.g. Dropbox and PhotoMechanic)
- The resultant filename in LR4 appears to correlate to "Date Time Digitized", which in my case does not reflect when the video was actually taken (I'm not sure if it should or not, I'm only saying that it does not).
Is this expected behavior from LR4?
The behavior I'm seeing means that I have to use yet another application (e.g. PhotoMechanic or other) on the front-end of my workflow (before LR) in order to ensure video files are named "correctly". This is obviously not the desired solution, I'd prefer to do the renaming inside LR at the time of import since it provides a function for precisely this purpose.
I use your program & believe that it is the best photo editing application year-to-date beside Adobe Photoshop & it's FREE.
Since the Q2 your website had stated the version 2.7.2 had been released @ 04/15/2011, however I can't find anywhere @ your website to download this recent version & continue to take advantage of it.

Is it possible to put a date field in a IDW title block that only shows the year?
It's for a copyright date & I'm trying to avoid having to type it in every time or remember to change it every year ion every sheet.

I've been sent an AGS 3.1 file which I'm trying to import to Civil 3D using the Geotechnical module, but keep running up against an error which suggests the date format in the AGS file is incorrect. From what I can see the format should be DD/MM/YYYY, and this is correct in the file, but Geotechnics still won't recognise it.
Is there a different date format I should be using, or is there a way to force the tool to recognise the format in the file?
How do I import photos to elements and have it use the photo date, not the import date?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am creating photo scenery for Flight Simulator X - my source files are large bmp's. From each of these I create a greyscale file which I Save As a tif file. However, when I recompile the bmp and tif together, I get error messages. Most common is a reference to Date/Time being incorrect.
If I load the tif file in GIMP, it reports "Incorrect Count for field DateTime (21, expecting 20); tag trimmed" - If I then save the tif in Gimp, it recompiles without errors.
When i import a folder to LR4 with a description and date, for some reason the date stays on the file but the sescription disappears?

This definitely worked in some previous versions (a while since I tried it) but in 4.1 it doesn't seem to work -- there is no such file in /Applications/Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4.app/Contents or in the en.lproj subfolder (which seems to be where the non English TranslatedStrings.txt files live).
I won't go into why I need to do this, suffice to say if I can't do it, I'm going to face a tedious process of importing a load of stuff year by year and choosing the destination base folder manually for each year. Which is do-able, it's just a big pain.
I'm using Lightroom 5.2RC. My camera is Sony RX100M2.
Everything was working fine until a few hours ago. Then I noticed that a few shots I took late this evening were being imported into yesterday's folder. So I carefully checked what was going on, and noticed that LR import was seeing an incorrect date and time for the file! For example, below you see the date/time it sees for the first image -- that date/time is wrong.
: LR sees the wrong date/time whether I try to import from camera, from SD card in card slot, or WiFi.
Windows Explorer reads the correct date/time of the files, as does the camera, Playmemories etc. Only Lightroom is seeing a wrong date/time. I even uninstalled LR and reinstalled it, and it's still seeing the wrong date/time in import. I have also formatted my card and took new photos, but same behavior.
I have a file on my computer that contains photos from two cameras that took photos over the same three week timespan. I have sorted them by date and time. When I import the file the photos from one camera show first followed by the photos from the other camera. How can I import or resort in LR3 to have photos in date/time sequence?

My many years of files are organized by the "YYYY" top folder then "MM-YY" then by date of shooting, "MM-DD-YY" within the corresponding month. Is this possible or must I continue to rename the folders after import?

Last time this happend was yesterday (2013-06-05). Almost all photos was automaticlly in folder for 2013-06-05 for the import but 10 photos shot between 10.07pm - 10.43pm was put in the folder 2013-06-06.

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy computer crashed with lightroom open and when i opened it up the catalog had reverted to a year or so ago's pictures, so i looked at the catalog file sure enough there was a corrupted catalog file, so i deleted the locked one, like you're supposed to do, but the catalog still has the wrong pictures. I can do it the hard way and just re-import all the pictures, but i'd like to have the ones i had with my edits on them and not have to go through them all again.

View 6 Replies View RelatedWhy does the capture date in the metadata panel not match the capture date seen in the grid extra view and how do I fix it? The images that I have in my library are digitized negatives and I've corrected the capture dates and times to be accurate; however, the capture date and in the metadata window shows what I've changed it to and the date in both the grid extra view and the Metadata>Edit Capture Time... options both reflect the date the image was last modified. Not all of the images in my library are this way and some show the correct information. When sorted by Capture Time, all images fall exactly where they should in the proper order (based on the changed, corrected edit time and not the modified date). I saved metadata to the file with the new date but it didn't fix it.

This would be very tedious to do manually. My next idea is to re-import them with MOVE option, but I would lose all the editing. Is there any way to re-import these while preserving the edit steps?
CorelDrawX6 user reporting that she imports a PDF file into CorelDrawX6 (Windows 7 pro, 64-bit system, version is X6 with update 2 and Hot patch applied, Windows OS is fully updated). Taking a pdf file scaling up to full scale, she is not getting the correct measurements. She tested it to see if the same thing happened on another user's computer that is XP Pro XP3 with CorelDraw X5 and it does not have the same issue.
So it may be in CorelDraw X6 (she moved to X6 recently). Also, she said it does not happen consistently. Yesterday this was a problem, today with the same file it appears to be OK.

They import into the library but sort automatically by name or by type (effectivly the same) But when I select sort by date (to get them into the sequence in which they were taken) nothing happens.How to do this? Or does the function not work?
The video I will produce needs to be in date/time order. Is it just that the "time" is not used in the sort and everything taken in one day will not be sorted in chronological order?
I have Lightroom 4.1; 64 bit; Win7. All of a sudden my keyword list is not showing the correct number of photos to which a particular keyword is attached. It doesn't show any for some when there are a number photos with that particular keyword (although it also does not show "0"). For other keywords, it dispolays a number but it is incorrect (apparently always a lower number than actually applicable. I do not seem to be using a filter that might reduce the number.
View 3 Replies View Related Had a problem with my RAID1 HD's and windows 7 went to check and repair my HD. There were some things with indexes, related to lightroom fixed. Kind of logical as I was working in Lightroom when the problem occured.
After restarting Lightroom 4 refuses to open my catalog. It states the catalog is not writable and cannot be opened, could be because of incorrect permissions. Strangely enough, although I run a backup weekly there is no backup folder on my HD, or better said only a backup folder with a file that's a couple of years old. No use. (should have checked this earlier... obviously)
How to get my catalog back up and running again? I can open Lightroom with a new catalog, but then I've lost a lot of work...
the basics: Windows7 home premium, Lightroom 4, catalog on internal HD which is in RAID1 (mirror), lightroom programme on SSD
I have all the permissions (administrator), catalog file is not 'read-only', run as administrator did not make any difference.
I've mistakenly included a keyword phrase that appends to my images.
How do i delete them?
2nd question: is there a keyboard shortcut to to open the Catalog-->All Photographs window?
