My desktop at home is a Mac 10.5 so I'm using LR3. I just bought a new MacBook Air and I've installed LR4 on it. Is it possible to work on a single dropbox-saved project from both Macs?

I installed 2012 a couple of months ago and have been working with it just fine. Recently, I cleaned up my computer and uninstalled earlier versions (2009,2010,2011) . Now, I am getting errors such as:
- error initializing sheet set manager
-etransmit not working
Can prior versions of inventor access current versions of vault?As in, can Inventor 2010 access vault 2013? Or does it have inventor 2013 and vault 2013?

I noticed that all my .awr files imported and any edited .jpg imported, but the original .jpg would not import if there was a corresponding .awr file. I'm not sure how to fix this. I would like all my photos imported.

There's one area that I can't figure out though and that's how to keep track of different versions of the same image.I have a number of images that are the same "base" image but in different formats (and folders), say a RAW file and a JPEG. Is there a way to link or track those two images in Lightroom so if I make changes to one image (adding keywords, for example) the changes are made to the other automatically?

I didn't import the images to Lightroom, rather, I referenced them on my HD.
Do I need to export them as an older version? Or save the images in another format?
I have 4 different Export Presets, each one exports the selected photos with specific names and specific properties.I want to export five photos, and I want to make four versions for each photo, each version being defined by a different preset.
Is it possible that on the first three presets, I could configure them with an export action that will initiate the next preset export?I export with preset one, which has an export action that starts an export of the same files, using preset 2, until preset 4 which will not have an export action.
After using "edit in" to take an image from LR3 to CS5, I would then save the edited image by "save as" then add -1 for an edited version, -2 for b&w, -3 for a funky edit, etc. (i.e. name-1 or name-2 would be typical file names) They would all save to lightroom. However, since I upgraded to LR4, I can't do that anymore or it doesn't save the image in LR. This has thrown my whole workflow out of whack - especially since I want to use the album module and need those versions of the images for the album.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've selected around 300 images from an intial shoot of 1200. I've assigned a star to the selected 300 and developed a colour image of each. Now, I need to make a BW version of each of the 300 images
What is the simplest way to do this? I have tried to make virtual copies of the selected 300 and assign 2 stars to enable me to keep the original 300 in colour and work on the soon to be BW versions, but when I do this I can only make a single virtual copy at a time. I'm sure it must be possible to select all 300 at once, and make 300 virtual copies somehow.
Is there a simple video demonstrating this workflow somewhere?
Not sure if it's a setting I'm missing, a workflow gaffe, or a feature that is simply absent. I would like new/multiple versions of a file to be persistent across multiple collections. It is not inconceivable to have an image in more than one collection; something could be in a Landscape collection, Portfolio collection, Blog Postings, and so forth. Unfortunately, it seems that if I export a file to edit in Photoshop (or any external application) it will only stack with the image in the collection from which it was sent. It will not show in any other collections so they would not include the current version of a file unless manually added.

View 2 Replies View RelatedAs I have done for years I shoot in RAW and use Nikon transfer to load images from the card to my laptop and external drive. AFter I sort the images by subject I import them to Lightroom for the final touches. Not so with Lightroom 4.2 and Nikon D600..Adobe says if yousue transfer than 4.2 will not recognize the files and too bad ...as a company they are going downhill..I hope they correct the problem so I can import the 1500 images into Lightroom for final conversions.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just noticed that some of my photos are missing from the library in lightroom, specifically the original versions of photos that have virtual copies edited in photoshop in folders that have since been synchronized. Weird, and very anoying. The files are still there (in wondows explorer) but when I try to re-import them lightroom doesn't see them, only the PS edited copies (.tif files). I told lightroom to allow duplicates and it sees all the photos in the folder except those missing ones. This does not happen to my PS edited virtual copies in folders that have not been synchronized. It is not a matter of stacking, or at least Lightroom does not think the PS copies are stacked at all so I can't unstack them. How to get them back into lightroom (preferably with the accompanying development settings) and also how to avoid this problem in the future.
PS: I import files from my camcorder using a different program because lightroom does not acknowledge that particular video file format. That's why I have to synchronize some folders and not others.
Is there anyway to insert these projects to the timeline at any random spot, versue the defaults to place at the beginning or end? Seems so limited that you only have those options. If you edit forward and only add material to the timeline as you need it, then it is no big deal to insert to the end... but if you add all your material to the timeline at once and then decide "oh, lets use an instant project here" then it is difficult to place in the middle.
I've copied some of the images in the templates to my library so that I could mimic those effects ( copy same attibutes to a clip) at anytime I want... just seems like there must be an easier way.
After having a problem projecting my walls to my roof slab (flat roof), which worked fine in previous sessions; and then trying the standard solutions of making sure my walls clean up properly, etc., I determined the problem was actually in that the walls do not like to project to a roof with components. In my last work session, I added a component to my roof. I switched back to a "standard" roof slab, projected the walls, and then switched back again to my roof with components.

I shoot RAW photos. I like and use Premier Elements 11 to make video. Frequently I insert photos in the videos and enjoy using the Pan and Zoom technique (frequently credited to Ken Burns).
Resizing photos support Premier Elements to run smoothly. The LR Export command makes it easy. Using PSD files works well in Premier Elements. However, I am confused about settings.
My understanding is that if no Pan&Zoom or cropping is to be done in the video the export should be 1920x1080. If Pan&Zoom is planned, the setting should be higher by about 50%. LR makes it simple by letting you specify the "Long Edge" so the setting would be 2880. The short edge will match the original.
What about "Pixels Per Inch" for a HD 1920x1080 video project that may be played on a big HD TV or smaller YouTube? There is plenty of information about PPI for printing and computer monitors, but not HD Video.

I've built a project up with several smaller project file components. It's an easier way to create a video than editing one big project.
Opening the overall project and running it on screen is not a problem. However, when I try to create a smart package of the composite project, I get a consistent error message rejecting the process because of the existence of the component vsp's.
Is there a way to avoid the error and create a smart package from a project file that has smaller component project files?

I do not have vault installed and I am trying to add sub files to my project. As of now my project has to find many of my files and I do not want to copy and past them into my project folder as this will mess with my parts numbering system. I want only one part / assembly file per part. I assume that you can do this with the project dialog box or some other system tool I just can not seem to figure it out.
