I'd like to upgrade from Elements to Lightroom. I'm currently using Elements version 11 for Mac.
With my free trial download of Lightroom, I've attempted multiple times to upgrade my Elements catalog, but it will only recognize about 1100 of my 45000 photos. If I cannot import the catalog I will not be able to switch to Lightroom.
Somehow our watermark function on the library>export process is no longer working after the 4.3 upgrade today. We created a new test watermark and that did not work either.
View 6 Replies View Related I have trial versions of both Photoshop Elements 12 and Lightroom 5.2 (trial licenses are both still active (i.e. not expired)). I'm looking to import my PSE12 catalog into Lightroom before I plunk down the money to buy it.
I cannot, however, locate the "File->Upgrade Photoshop Elements Catalog" option in LR5.
I may have originally installed LR 5 before installing PSE 12. So I uninstalled LR5 and reinstalled it. Still no luck - the option isn't there. Any other ways to force LR5 to look for the PSE 12 catalog? Will LR5 even recognize a PSE12 catalog?
I have recently upgraded my Mac to Mountain Lion and now my Photoshop wont work. What do I need to do to get it to work (upgrade etc)?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded my Mac OS to 10.7.5 from 10.7.4. I also upgraded Java from SE6 to 7. Now my cs4 design suite will not open. I click on the Illustrator alias but nothing happens. I get the Rainbow Pinwheel that spins for 2 seconds and then stops. This also happens when I try using Photoshop, InDesign, and Dreamweaver. I've also tried opening using the .app file in the applications folder, but the same thing happens.
A side note: I tried to revert back to Java 6 with no luck. and I do not have a back up of my OS to revert back to 10.7.4. Everything was working great prior to the upgrades.
Elements will open but will not load picture from lightroom..using a new iMac... I have already change the preference to edit in elements 10 (in lightroom)but it still will not open image..

It says that it did do it, but with errors...and now when I open Lightroom, all my pictures just show up as grey squares. If I try to import pictures individually, it says that Lightroom already has all my pictures in the Library.

I am considering upgrading either to Elements 7 or CS4. In looking at the
features of Elements 7, it appears to have just about anything a amateur
photographer would need and be a little less complicated than CS4. Am I
overlooking something that would suggest that CS4 would be a "better"
choice than Elements 7?

View 4 Replies View RelatedIn Elements 2.0, the selection tool literally only selects what you want it to (like a brush). In CS6, I can't find a similar selection tool. Quick select always makes the selection too broad and I end up having to constantly add and subtract from it to little avail. I know there's more advanced ways to define the selection, but I want to know how to easily select only what's in my brush path.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have upgraded from Win XP to 8.1 by buying a new machine. I have a valid copy of elements 11 on DVD. This was upgraded from elements 8 which was downloaded and those files have been lost. Windows 8.1 will not read the DVD.
How can I get PSE11 onto the new machine?
After upgrading from Photoshop Elements 7 to 10, some of the ratings didnt copy over. Is there some way to force elements to resync the ratings?

I've recently upgraded to v5.3 on the PC and at the same time have installed v5.3 on my laptop also running windows 7. On the laptop using a few new images: the smart preview, exporting and web functions work fine. On the original PC which has my original catalog of c17K images these three functions do not work. As far as I can tell the association between the masters and the images in the library has not been lost. The library and develop functions in v5.3 are working on all the c17K images in the original catalog.I've set the Export dialogue box up using recommendations from answers I've gleaned form other discussions in the forum eg; making sure the 'do nothing' flag is active in the post processing section and reducing the quality of the JPEG image. Still when I export nothing happens.

It goes through the initial steps, stays at "preparing new searchable data" for a long time, then eventually stops and pops up the error message: "Unable to upgrade catalog. Lightroom encountered problems when trying to update the format of the catalog file and cannot use this catalog in this version of Lightroom". I tried upgrading a smaller catalog that I don't use anymore and it worked fine. how I can get this catalog converted? Its my main catalog with all of my current years' images. For the time being LR 4 is working fine but I'd love to get 5 up and running.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI can't import ANY images to LR 4.4 since upgrading my Mac OS to Mountain Lion 10.8.3 this past week. I downloaded LR5 Beta and all works well. I deleted LR5 Beta to see if it was conflicting with LR4.4 somehow and rebooted. Still no change. I can't import from my card reader (that says it can't even read the files) or from a location on my hard drive. The error message for importing is "Could not copy a file to requested location."
View 7 Replies View RelatedWhen I used LR3.6 The Library option listed all my files on the left hand side under 'Folder' and showed a sub-folder for each year 2009-2012. I have now upgraded to LR4, and all I can see is 2011. During the install process of LR$ it asked me if I wanted to upgrade the process model, which I said yes and it did. Then, because I had read that 4.1 fixed a lot of issues, I downloaded and installed RC4.1 which I am running now.
How do I make LR4 show me all my Folders? I don't think I should be re-importing them all.
Since upgrading to Lightroom 5.4 this morning, the Map Module is blank. Nothing appears in the Navigator box or the main map area. Nothing appears even for those images with GPS coordinates present in the file. I'm connected to the internet.
