Lightroom :: Sharpening In Develop Module Is Not Shown When Switching Back To Library Module
Feb 7, 2014
Sharpening applied in develop module is not shown when switching back to library module. It looks the problem occurs when having size to "FIT". With 1:1 there seams to be no issue. Export also looks fine in 1:1.
I use Mac 10.9.1, LR5.3, Nikon NEF 24Mbit from D600.
I've been having problems with LR 5.2 when I do sharpening (and sometimes spot removal) in the develop module. It looks fine in the develop pane, but when I move to library module the sharpening and spot removal disappear (and reappear when I switch back to develop). The exported images are the same as the view in Library mode. How do I get the exported images to have the sharpening and spot removal that I've done in develop?
I am running LR4 ver4.3. All of a sudden I receied an error message stating cannnot switch to module. I have tried all the usual stuff before going out to the web to look for fixes. On adobe's site they recommended 6 things which I did exactly as instructed and still nothing..I am running iMac mountain lion and everything on my computer is up to date.
For some reason images in the library module aren’t as sharp compared to the develop module. If I’m in develop images are nice and sharp but as soon as I select the library you can see the image quality drop and image becomes less blurry!
After making changes to an image (sharpening, exposure, contrast, etc, etc) in the develop module, when I head over to the library module, the image does not show the latest changes. What's worse is when I export a JPG of the image, it exports the original! What's the point in having LR?
There are three distinct phases: Capture Sharpening, Creative Sharpening and Output sharpening
With regards to Capture Sharpening I’ve noticed that when I import a CR2 file into Lightroom 3.6 there is an Adobe pre-set in the Develop Module. Is this a form of Capture Sharpening default?
Recently after sharpening/editing a photo in the Develop module I returned to the Library module, only to see that the sharpening adjustements reversed. When I go back to view the image in "Develop" the sharpness returns. Not sure what I'm doing wrong here. All of the other photos I've adjusted in Develop retain all changes when toggling back to Library. This is using LR3.6 for MAC.
I recently updated Lighroom 4.1 to 4.2 successfuly, but now any time I go into the Develop module, Lightroom pauses, then crashes and forces me to quite the program. Is this a bug than needs to be ironed out, or is there something else going on?
When i'm editing photos in the develop module they look really clear and good. When i switch to the library, they have a lot of noise and look nothing like how I edited them. I am using lightroom 4 for my mac. It's annoying to have to switch between the develop module and library to see what they are going to look like.
I am using Lightroom 4.4 Dell Ultrasharp monitor is calibrated. I own and have been referring to Scott Kelby's Lightroom4 book for digital photographers. I recently took some photos of my daughters prom. She had on a beautiful reddish orange dress. I notice that the dress appears very red in the develop module, however, appears a bit more orange in the library module. The change is very noticeable between the modules. The dress also appears similar to the library module view (a bit more orange) when viewed on the web via Flickr utilizing Chrome, Firefox, or IPad. It also appears the same when exported to a JPEG file.
I have done some experimenting and have determined that this color change effect appears to be very noticeable utilizing the Adobe Standard Camera Calibration Profile. It does not happen (at least to a noticeable extent) with the others such as Camera Standard where the dress appears a bit more orange in both the library and develop module. I do, however, like the appearance of the Adobe Standard profile better and this happens to be the default profile as well.
I have also noticed that the dress looks more orange when Soft Proofing is enabled. The change happens immediately when the check box is enabled. Checking the box makes the photo appear similar to the Library module view. Enabling Soft Proofing does make noticeable that there is Destination Gamut Warning which mainly involves the dress which is the point of interest, however, there is no warning with the Monitor Gamut Warning. I am intending to place the photos on the web at this time via Flickr. I will be printing several later so will be worrying about the printer gamut at that time. But for now, I would like to get the photos on the web looking as intended.
When I am working on an image, for some reason SOMETIMES, the cursor vanishes and all I will see is different elements momentarily highlighting but not enough to do anything in LR. pressing ESC gets me out of the module and somehow I have to exit the program...restart to get it back to normal again...

I'm running LR3.6 on XP SP2 with a wide gamut NEC PA241W monitor (calibrated). I haven't noticed a problem before, but just noticed a colour shift on shots of autumn golds and yellows. I get the image how I want it, working from the raw file in the Develop module, then switch to the Loupe view in the Library, where it looks less saturated. This is still viewing the raw file, not an exported file, so it should still all be working in the internal ProPhoto colour space?
I was really hoping that the Quick Develop panel in the Library Module which I sometimes use if there are minor touchups needed to a photo would have been redesigned to more closely resemble and work like the Basic panel in the Develop Module. Certainly sliders instead of those arrow buttons would be a very useful change.
I am having trouble with the Raw fies that have been adjusted in the Develop Module loosing all of their luster and pop when switching back to Library and exporting. In other words, my adjustments are generally flattened out and colors muted when going from Develop to Library. I see that the Camera Calibration shows only ONE profile option: Matrix. However, the same single option for my 7D is also Matrix but the Raw files appear to hold my adjustments after being made in the Develop module.
Using Lightroom 4.1 final, I see greatly different color saturation between the Library (very saturated) and the Develop (seems OK) module if I start the program on my sRGB monitor and drag the window to the wide gamut screen. It seems like the Library preview is rendered as if the monitor was sRGB.
This seems very similar to the problem that was fixed from 4.1 RC2 to 4.1 final, but more specific to particular circumstances. And the problem does not exist if LR starts on the wide gamut monitor.
I'm using LR 4.1 final 64 bit on Windows 7 64 bit and I always use LR with a single window despite having two monitors.
The curved, block like, lines in the upper left of this photo appears in the Library module and after I export. When I am in the Develop module, the lines are not there. What is causing these lines, and how can I make it stop.
I've been using my LR3 for a few months but this is the first time that I got an error message when I was switching from the Library module to the the Develop module. I have a macbook pro with 500 GB HD. I am currently using 450 GB already.
When I move photos from the develop module to the web module they get a garish/reddish look . I want the photos in slide shows to look like they do in the Develop module. How do I do that?
Is there a way to add text (names or locations)so it shows on a photo from the library or develop module? I know you can add text in the slidshow module or when exporting, but it would be faster in the library/develop module.
I have gone through the process of hitting alt/option when in develop to reset default settings in develop to no avail as the images keep being altered whether you are simply viewing in All photos in library module or a single image in develop .
I can see a previously processed image in the Library module. When I try to open that image in Develop, it changes to another image in the same folder. This only happens with certain images.
The main develop module controls have disappeared from the develop window. How do I recover them? I'm working with Lightroom 5.3. The missing controls are the sliders for exposure, contrast, clarity, etc. I must have inadvertantly clicked something that made them disappear but nothing I've tried brings them back. I've never had this experience in the years I've been using Lightroom (since version 1.1).
I'm running LR4.1 on Windows 7 64 bit with 5D MK ii raw images and just discovered the Book module 'Export Book to JPEG' produces files that do not have output sharpening applied.
Book = JPEG Size = Standard Landscape Cover = Hardcover Image Wrap JPEG Quality = 90 File Resolution = 300 ppi Sharpening = (Every setting produces the same results) Media Type = (Every setting produces the same results)
When selecting 'Book = PDF' the sharpening is very obvious and is applied as expected based on the Sharpening setting:
Glossy Low = least sharpening Matte High = most sharpening
I am trying out the 30 day LR 5 trial to see if I would like to upgrade. For some reason my Develop Module contains the same tools as my older version, though I know I shouldn't even see a "brightness" tool. How do I fix this and get the new tools so I can continue my 30 day trial?
My develop module is not fully opening. The only items it is allowing me to edit is lens profile correction, vignetting. How to restore the full develop module starting with temperature, contrast, blacks, whites, shadows, etc., all the way down the whole module.
