Feb 18, 2014i don't do much printing through lightroom but yesterday went to print a contact type document and the application would constantly quit as soon as i hit 'print'. it does this whether i print by hitting 'print' directly or whether i go through the printer dialog box and then hit print.

Occasionally when processing images I open them from Lightroom into Photoshop as a smart objects, should I wish to carry out some further RAW processing on one of the images it always opens in Camera RAW. I would like the image to open back into Lightroom.
Lightroom :: Error Reading Preview Cache - LR Keeps Crashing And Quitting
Oct 16, 2013I have been using LR since version 1 without problems. I run LR 4.4 on an iMac 27 inch with an external HD - originally OSX 10.6.8. The disk was originally firewire but I have recently changed that to a USB3.0 4tb drive. I copied all my photos and catalogs onto that drive and it worked without problems for about 2-3 months. Recently however I am getting crashes whereas I have never had one before. Suddenly LR4.4 started saying that it had experienced an unknown error and had to quit. On re-launch it wouldn't open the catalog. In fact not only would it not open the catalog, it had left 2 files in the folder with the catalog - lrcat-journal and lrcat-lock. Neither of these can be deleted (I get an unknown error code -50 if I try to do so). However if I restart the computer I can then delete them.
I thought it might be an operating system problem and finally upgraded to OSX 10.8.5. Same problems but I noted an error message saying that there had been a problem reading from the preview cache. I deleted the contents of a folder called Lightroom Cache and deleted my previews. (In fact I run an identical system at another location and simply copy catalogs from one system to the other as I work on them and so I copied the previews from the other system). This seemed to work better.
But then I installed the demo of LR 5, upgraded my LR4 catalog and am having precisely the same problems. I should say that the other system (still on 10.6.8 and an external firewire drive) has worked flawlessly since version 4 was released - and had no problems with versions 1, 2 and 3.
Since LR 5 is exhibiting the same problems, my only thought is that it is a problem with my USB drive. I have run Diskwarrior on it and rebuilt the directory - no problems encountered and have run Disk Utility on it - again no problems found. I have had no problems with the drive that I am aware of - it seems perfectly stable and behaves exactly as it should.
I cannot use LR 4.4 or 5 on this system. Is there any reason why LR should have started to object to the USB drive (it is USB 3.0 and my iMac is only USB 2.0 but there is backwards compatibility). Something is very wrong but I can't work out where to start.
Lightroom :: Cursor Navigation In The Library?
Sep 8, 2013navigating in the library using the cursor.I want to be able to go around any particular folder (or collection) in an "endless loop" using the cursor keys. Is that possible?
In other words, when I get to the last image in the folder, I want to be able to go back to the first image in the folder by hitting the right cursor key.Similarly, when I'm at the first image, I want to be able to go to the last image by hitting the left cursor key.
Up until now I haven't been able to do that, and I've just assumed LR doesn't have this function.However, a few minutes ago while browsing a folder suddenly the cursor did have this behavior. I was looking in a folder and could go around in this kind of endless loop.
But then suddenly the behavior stopped and LR is back to the previous limitation. (Somewhere in this browsing I turned on a filter to look at pics with only 3 stars and above, so maybe that had something to do with it, but I cannot recreate the behavior.) Is there a setting somewhere that controls this?
I'm on Mac OS 10.8.4, LR 4.4
Lightroom :: Filmstrip Navigation - How To Goto 1st Or Last Entry
Mar 22, 2014When in Library mode I want to move around the filmstrip (at the bottom) when in Loupe View. The same can be said about being in Grid View. I am able to go to the next or previous slides with the arrow keys and by pressing Page-Up and Page-Down it jumps ahead/back 10 or slides. How do you jump to the first or last slide? When I push Home or End nothing happens. I thought it was supposed to jump to the first or last slide.
Windows 7 PC
64 bit
Run LR5.3 on computer - not CC version.
PS - I have looked at several of the various cheat sheets on shortcuts and cannot find this.
Lightroom :: Can't See Files In Navigation Panel Of Library
Nov 23, 2011Usually when I Import I select what I want to Import from the left panel of the Library interface. I open Folders, then my C drive (whatever) and go from there. My entire file structure is displayed and I can navigate anywhere I want.
Tonight all that is displayed under Folders - C Drive is a listing of already imported folders. It's a list compiled from within Lightroom, not my computer's file directory.
I am not in Catalog and there is no slider to the left of the list - plus the list is not even a portion of my file list, it is something altogether else.
I was able to do a clumsy import by using File Import, which brought up an interface I have never seen before, much less used. I was able to "select a source" there and browse my files. But it was unfamiliar and I need to get my navigation window back to showing what's on my C drive when I click Folders - C Drive.

AutoCAD 2010 :: Gibberish Upon Reopening DWG?
Jul 10, 2013I am an AutoCAD 2011 user and have been experiancing (along with my coworkers) a strange problem when I reopen random DWG files.
When certain files open, we are getting extra text placed on top of certain drawing dimensions, it seems to be restricted to only diameter symbols (see attached 1)
Also, text is being mashed together where we typically place drawing notes (see attached 2)., since we go in and delete the gibberish, but it still pops up randomly from time to time.

Sep 23, 2012I just upgraded my iMac (3.06 GHz i3 with 8 GB RAM) to OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2). Tonight I opened Photoshop CS5 for the first time since the OS X upgrade and created a new document (8.5x11 grayscale, 300dpi). Everything was fine until I saved the document, then "saved as" under a different filename. When I tried to re-open the original document, Photoshop immediately quit and continued to quit every time I tried to open the original document. I concluded that the document had gotten corrupted and started over, recreating the document from scratch; but exactly the same thing happened again. Once I saved the original document under a different name, Photoshop immediately quit every time I tried to reopen either the original document or the "saved as" version.

Sep 25, 2013I created some sample pie charts for a client - had no problems with the document while it was open. It saved fine, I even saved it as an EPS. However, when I try to reopen the document, it gives me an error (whether I open the illustrator or eps file).
I haven't been able to track down the reason for it. It has 6 sample pie charts on it. The text and labels are simply text or lines drawn on a separate layer. The "hole" is simply a white circle on top of the chart. There isn't really anything complicated with it, so I'm not sure where the error is. I've already recreated this but had the same problem again.
This does not happen for all pie charts - there is another file I created with other samples, and I've been able to reopen that. The odd thing is that even though I get the error, it seems to partially open the file - only a few of the elements show up.

Oct 22, 2013I do my 3D modeling by use of simple cylinders,boxes and everything looks fine. but when I re-open the file just minutes later lots of objects has moved. See attachment. The attached picture shows a highlighted cylinder that is BOTH highlighted inside the module (where it is supposed to be) and on the outside where it has moved.
This happens all the time and I have to move the objects back in position. The distance the objects are moved is random. I use 'acadiso3D' template for these models

May 16, 2011In Designer Pro 6 Under Options, Backups, there's a check box that says, "Backup open documents on program close and restore on program start." Sometimes I want some of my open documents to reopen on program start (I think this is great!) But my problem is even when I first close those documents (that I don't want to open on program restart) before closing XDP6, when I reopen XDP6 the ones that I closed reopen. What can be done to change this behavior if I want to keep the box checked?

Mar 28, 2011Had a client request a schematic but for the hardware of a schematic to be represented with JPEGs of the component.Having a bizarre one where I've re-opened a DWG which had about 15 JPEGs in (which were copied from pictures off of the net) and the images aren't appearing when re-opening the file. I've just got a blank space with a boundary with drag points.
When I double click on where the image is supposed to be I got the 'Image Adjust' properties box and a space where the image is supposed to be in the box and all it says is 'Image File Unsupported.'
I'm fearing having the 'ball ache' of having to obtain the images again, and cropping them and resizing them and wasting a load of time on them which I haven't got to spear.
