AutoCad :: JPEGs When Reopening DWG - Image File Unsupported
Mar 28, 2011
Had a client request a schematic but for the hardware of a schematic to be represented with JPEGs of the component.Having a bizarre one where I've re-opened a DWG which had about 15 JPEGs in (which were copied from pictures off of the net) and the images aren't appearing when re-opening the file. I've just got a blank space with a boundary with drag points.
When I double click on where the image is supposed to be I got the 'Image Adjust' properties box and a space where the image is supposed to be in the box and all it says is 'Image File Unsupported.'
I'm fearing having the 'ball ache' of having to obtain the images again, and cropping them and resizing them and wasting a load of time on them which I haven't got to spear.

I do my 3D modeling by use of simple cylinders, boxes and everything looks fine. but when I re-open the file just minutes later lots of objects has moved. See attachment. The attached picture shows a highlighted cylinder that is BOTH highlighted inside the module (where it is supposed to be) and on the outside where it has moved.
This happens all the time and I have to move the objects back in position. The distance the objects are moved is random. I use 'acadiso3D' template for these models

I'm using CS6. For example I change the image size to a 4X6 and then save it. Then when I open the file it will be 7.5X5. What's the fix?

I've created a series of images utilizing symbols.
Basically the images are of a box. Each side of the box has different content.
I create the side content flat with an encompassing rectangle. Drag all this to the Symbol Panel to create a symbol (no 9-slice no align to grid set). I then take a symbol instance and use Object > Envelope Distort > Apply with Mesh - 1 row, 1 column and proceed to transform the symbol into position on the packaging.
This works.
I can easily double-click the symbol and edit the side of the package with no problem. Exit symbol editing mode and the symbol instance(s) update. Perfect.
Until.....
I close the file. Return to it 12-18 hours later and open it to see that visually my symbols are no longer positioned correctly. I click, the symbol/emvelope is still in the correct position, but the preview on screen shows no transformation. This incorrect visual appearnce translates to print and save for web as well. So it's more than simply an inaccurate preview. The symbol has actually broken out of its container incorrectly.
To explain further.
When I save the file it looks like this:
The grey box indicates the symbol/envelope bounding area.
When I reopen the file the next day it looks like this:
The symbol/envelope is still in the correct position but the symbol contents are completely incorrect. There seems no way to reset the symbol other than to delete what's there and redo the transformations.
There is nothing overly complicated about the artwork within the symbol. It's all text or line art, no effects or transformations within the symbol itself.

The full message I'm getting reads: "Error loading PSD file: Unsupported compression mode: 60157."
Is there anything I can do to remedy this? I don't have PSD, so I can't open it that way...

I am an AutoCAD 2011 user and have been experiancing (along with my coworkers) a strange problem when I reopen random DWG files.
When certain files open, we are getting extra text placed on top of certain drawing dimensions, it seems to be restricted to only diameter symbols (see attached 1)
Also, text is being mashed together where we typically place drawing notes (see attached 2)., since we go in and delete the gibberish, but it still pops up randomly from time to time.

Here's a question I never really knew the FULL answer to...
If I take a jpeg image, and save it out as a 100% quality jpeg, does it lose image quality? I always operated (for many, many years) with the assumption that resaving a jpeg degrades the image quality... though I never knew the specifics, like:
1) Does saving as 100% quality save it without adding any image quality loss?
2) Does loading a jpeg (or any other compressed file, for that matter) into photoshop cause quality problems (because the file is already compressed)?
3) Would repeated loading and saving of the same jpeg at 100% quality continually reduce the image quality?
4) Even with an uncompressed image (say, one that you created in photoshop and haven't saved yet), does saving as a 100% jpeg reduce quality, or is it (at that level) like a lossless compression that simply looks for patterns or repeated blocks of the same colour?
5) Up to now, I've always used uncompressed Targas as my 'work image', and only created jpegs from it for emails or final display images (for my portfolio, etc)... with the assumption that as long as I'm going to be modifying it and resaving it, I should use an uncompressed file. Is that being unnecessarily cautious?

I am new to Lightroom and evalutating 3.6 on a trial.I performed the following test:
1. Imported 3 pictures into Lightroom from my hard drive
2. In Lightroom, I made a keyword change to one photo (removed a keyword).
3. All three photos' Metadata icon show the arrow, indicating that there has been a change. (I only changed the keyword on one photo.)
4. I click the icon for the photo whose keyword I changed.
5. I get the message "The metadata for this photo has been changed in Lightroom. Save the changes to disk?"
6. I click "Yes".
7. The photo's Metadata icon shows an exclamation point. When you hover over the exclamation point, it shows the message "Sidecar has conflict".
I have two questions:
1. My expectation is that when I changed a keyword, or any other metadata, in LR, it will show up on the photo outside of LR. My understanding is that this is a functionality of LR. Am I wrong? (The Help files seem to indicate that this is a reasonable expectation.)
2. I am assuming, having read many posts on the forum, that the error message "Sidecar has conflict" is a bug. Am I right? (My understanding is that JPEGs don't have sidecar files, which just makes this message even more odd.)
I am on Windows 7 Home Premium (upgraded from Vista Home Premium), 32 bit.

I created some sample pie charts for a client - had no problems with the document while it was open. It saved fine, I even saved it as an EPS. However, when I try to reopen the document, it gives me an error (whether I open the illustrator or eps file).
I haven't been able to track down the reason for it. It has 6 sample pie charts on it. The text and labels are simply text or lines drawn on a separate layer. The "hole" is simply a white circle on top of the chart. There isn't really anything complicated with it, so I'm not sure where the error is. I've already recreated this but had the same problem again.
This does not happen for all pie charts - there is another file I created with other samples, and I've been able to reopen that. The odd thing is that even though I get the error, it seems to partially open the file - only a few of the elements show up.

I would like to know if there is any way of re-opening a smart object in Lightroom rather than the default ACR?
Occasionally when processing images I open them from Lightroom into Photoshop as a smart objects, should I wish to carry out some further RAW processing on one of the images it always opens in Camera RAW. I would like the image to open back into Lightroom.

In Designer Pro 6 Under Options, Backups, there's a check box that says, "Backup open documents on program close and restore on program start." Sometimes I want some of my open documents to reopen on program start (I think this is great!) But my problem is even when I first close those documents (that I don't want to open on program restart) before closing XDP6, when I reopen XDP6 the ones that I closed reopen. What can be done to change this behavior if I want to keep the box checked?

This is an InDesign/Photoshop error but the problem itself is coming from Photoshop.
I made a silhouette pic in Photoshop CS6 after rasterizing some layers and what I have is a black background with a white figure in the foreground. I could not convert it to a JPEG, but I opened it up in Bridge and I wanted to import it into InDesign, but then I got an error message that said:
"This file uses an unsupported color space. Only RGB, CMYK, L*a*b*, grayscale, indexed and bitmap formats are supported by the Photoshop filter"
I tried to fix it in Photoshop but there's no way to unlock the Background layer in order to edit it.

I have a folder of tiffs that were recovered from an sd card out of a Canon T3i. The only recovery software that worked saved them as Tiff files. I can view the thumbnail, I can even view the full res version in Windows Picture Viewer, but the files cannot be opened by Lightroom, Photoshop, Infranview or Gimp. The all spit out a message to the tune of "unsupported tiff format".
I'd be happy to just get these things into jpeg format so that I can edit them,.

this is ridiculous - is there a work around or do i just not use TIFF from that printer/scanner any more?

Why do my .JPG files "appear to be unsupported or damaged" in LR 4? I've never had this isssue before, just (attempting) to import files from my snycomatic folder (taken with my iphone). I've been doing it exactly the same as usual, but this time when I attempt it I get "the files appear to be unsupported or damaged."
All are jpeg files, all open in finder just fine, and it did allow 8 of the 30 some odd pictures to be imported? preview image(s) were unavailable in the thumbnails, though the ones that worked were visable.
I did double check and the folder permissions are all fine and I seem to be able to import other files from other folders with no issues.Running Lightroom 4.4 & OSX10.7.5 on a Mbpro.

I'm synchronizing my LR files with my Hard Drive files. I get an Import Results page that says: Some import operations were not performed. The files appear to be unsupported or damaged. It then lists the files that could not be imported. When I look at the files, some are .CR2 (Canon RAW) files, some are .TIF files, and some are .PSD files.
I don't know when the problem originated, but I was able to open them earlier. There are hundreds of files that cannot be read.
