Paint Shop Pro :: Unsupported Document Type In X3
Sep 1, 2013Having a new problem with X3. Starting today, when I try to add borders to a raster image, I get the following message:
"Command could not be completed because the document type is unsupported"
Same thing happens if it is "Merged Visible"
If the image is flattened or is a background image all works fine. I do not have this problem in X2. I did reset the workspace, as sometimes that works, but not in this instance.

Nov 26, 2012I downloaded and installed the Preset Shapes 01, Maps 01, Layer Editing 01, Gradient 01.
How do I access these features? I don't see any selection in the menus or toolbars.
Paint Shop Pro :: Painting And Cloning Features
Sep 8, 2011For many years, I used the Photo House program on Corel Print House Magic v.4 as my photo editor/image generator of choice. Considering it was a freebie with a printer, I found it to be a remarkably versatile program which really opened up my creativity. I'd tried Adobe Photo Shop, which I didn't find at all user-friendly, plus a few other programs - but I kept coming back to Photo House.
Anyway... it worked fine on every Windows version from 98 onwards. But it won't work on Windows 7. It'll load... but it crashes as soon as I try to do anything. Someone suggested changing the compatibility mode - but I'm running Home Premiun, which doesn't have that option. Currently I'm using Gimp, which is okay - kind of Photo Shop Lite - but it still won't do certain things that I used to do all the time on Photo House. So I'm now thinking of going for Paint Shop Pro as v. 4's now come out (I was told to avoid v. 3 because of some glitches).
What I'd like to know is whether the program incorporates those features I used lots on Photo House and haven't found since. They are:
1) The ability to open two photographs side by side and clone an image from one of them directly onto the other one. I used to do things like have a landscape and clone a figure onto it from the other photograph, which gave a much better effect than doing cut and paste. I'm presuming this sort of thing can be done using layers (never used them before) - but doing it the way I used to do it was very easy, and working with layers looks a lot more difficult.
2) The brushes and spray gun on Photo House had a huge choice of heads/shapes to choose from, with variable degrees of opacity. One such head was a star shape, which if used with the spray gun would give a stunning effect of a spray of stars of varying size and colour. I used that a lot in some children's illustrations I do. Gimp doesn't have that feature, and nothing else I've looked at seems to have, either.

Mar 28, 2011Had a client request a schematic but for the hardware of a schematic to be represented with JPEGs of the component.Having a bizarre one where I've re-opened a DWG which had about 15 JPEGs in (which were copied from pictures off of the net) and the images aren't appearing when re-opening the file. I've just got a blank space with a boundary with drag points.
When I double click on where the image is supposed to be I got the 'Image Adjust' properties box and a space where the image is supposed to be in the box and all it says is 'Image File Unsupported.'
I'm fearing having the 'ball ache' of having to obtain the images again, and cropping them and resizing them and wasting a load of time on them which I haven't got to spear.
Paint Shop Pro :: Saving File In Other Than Original Download File
May 24, 2012When I bring up n image file from a folder and after I work on it I would like to save in another folder other than from the original download file which is the only choice I seem to get.
Is there way to designate a "default" folder for saving other than having to continually search for the folder I wish to save to?
Paint Shop Pro :: File Closes When Opening New File X4
Dec 6, 2011I noticed, that in X4 my file ( in which I'm working) is lost, if I open a new file from the organizer.
In older versions, I could have a lot of pictures on my screen and switch between them.
Is this a "bug" in X4, or is there a way to put this feature back like X2.

Paint Shop Pro :: X6 Can't Set File Association
Sep 17, 2013Just installed PSP X6 on windows 8 64 bit. When in file explorer, I click on pspimage file and it opens in X6 64 bit. I want it to open in 32 bit. I did the right click Open With/Choose default program trick to no avail. I also did the File/Preferences/File Format associations and selected PSP X6 32-bit but it still opens it in the 64 bit version.
Do I need to uninstall PSP and install it again minus the 64 bit version to get it to work? I don't use the 64 bit version much cause my plugins are 32 bit.
Paint Shop Pro :: X4 File Locations
May 7, 2012Why is it when I move the X4 files (brushes, picture tubes, etc) to another location and even enter that information in the program that the program moves everything BACK into My Documents folder when I restart the program the next time?
The My Documents folder is for MY DOCUMENTS, not brushes, picture tubes, scripts, maps, gradients and all this other crap.
Why I can't stop this program from inserting folders in My Documents and filling it up with crap. I don't want it there.

Jul 24, 2012I have a picture, I select save and chose png No what what name i pick PSP tells me "The file name is not valid" If i chose to save as TIF it saves right away. If I copy a png file in the directory and click on the file, and then click on that file in the save as dialog, PSP asks me if i want to overwrite, if i say yes then it saves the file: From then on i can save without getting this error message.

Jun 27, 2012I'm baffled. I do 99.9% of my photo work in Lightroom and then export to jpg. On the rare occasion when I need to remove something from a photo (a fly or leash), I have been using PSP version 9 because I already have it.
However, this morning I opened an 8 Mb jpgs file, did my editing and just saved it (no save as or resizing), and now the file is only 2 Mb.

Sep 22, 2011I use PSP x3 and I have a 3mb photo. When I edit and crop the photo, I then "save as". When I go back and ck the photo properties of the photo I saved after editing it has saved it at only 131kb. When I tried to get a large print developed, I was told the resolution was too low and the picture was pixelated. How do I save the edited photo and keep it at 3mb?

Sep 11, 2011I have PaintShop Photo Pro X3 running on Windows 7 x64. I have created artwork for an ad that I am purchasing in a trade publication. The contact person at the magazine tells me that they need my artwork in CMYK format and in a file type of eps. They need the CMYK format in one file as opposed to being broken out into separate channels. They are using Quark software. How I can get my artwork into the format that Quark needs?

When saving JPEGs, I seem to be getting wildly different resulting file sizes, depending on whether I've used Save or Save As. Case in point:
original file size from camera: 6194 KB
Save / Standard encoding / compression factor 2: 1875 KB
Save As / Standard encoding / compression factor 2: 5184 KB
Save / Lossless encoding : 1875 KB
Save As / Lossless encoding: 7235 KB
It seems to me that with x2 (my previous version), I could set the low compression factor, and the resulting Save file would actually be larger than the original. I want to be able to save with minimal compression (but I don't want to mess with TIFFs), and I need to know if I should now be using Save As instead.
Is this as designed, is it my imagination...what's going on?
Paint Shop Pro :: PSD File -Viewing Layers?
Feb 16, 2013I'm having an issue with layers not opening properly. I have a file that is a .psd, and when I open it initially, the layers are there. Then, if I save it, it pops up a box saying "because of the limitations of the specified file format (and possibly the save options you have selected), group data will be converted to raster data. Would you like to continue?
If I hit "yes", when I reopen the file, it only has 2 layers. What do I need to do in order to save it with all the layers in tact?

There just now appears lots of paintshop camera icons instead in all the directories. How do I get the images to appear again in Explorer as I use this all the time for searching and moving files???

When I right click to "Open With" PSP is not an option and trying manually does nothing. Some pics I can drag in and open. Dbl clk only opens the Instant Viewer.

Feb 16, 2012I am finding some difficulties to deal with vector files in PSP.
a) When reading=> I saved several .SVG files from Inkscape software and PSP isn’t able to open the files (I could open them through GIMP). The “SVG import” dialog box opens in PSP, but when I click in “ok” a message mentions “this is not a valid SVG file”. What could be happening? What is the better/compatible vector file format that PSP is able to handle?
b) When writing=> I created a vector logo with text and drop shadow in layer style. I would like to send it to other people that don’t have PSP. So, is there any vector file format which PSP is able to write/save? I tried to save it in .WMF and .EMF, but the output isn’t good (the definition isn’t good, the shadow doesn't appear, when I insert the logo in Word the text character changed to japonese character).
