Whenever I open the batch conversion window a file always appears in the main file list window; I have to manually remove it (pressing clear) before using the browse button.

I have a folder of photos, (large file sizes), I'd like to reduce each file size to a little bigger than a Thumnail size. This is hopefully something I can do bysetting the same parameters to all the photos. Here's what I've figured out (so far)FileAutomateBatchChoose Source FolderChoose Destination Folder That's about it - when I choose both folders, I can't seem to pull up the parameters to reduce the file sizes.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI shoot with the Canon 40D. The Raw processor in PSPX4 is showing an anomaly when converting my 40D files raw files. When I initially load raw images, and when the image is displayed, it is shown at one setting. Then in 3 seconds, its updated again showing a 1 stop darker, desaturated and less sharper image. Each time I click on another image on the bottom column, same thing. The new image is displayed, then 3 seconds later the same thing happens. There is a noticable difference when I view the same photo in Canon DPP. The PSPX4 Raw File just looks terrible. This does not happen when I edit a JPEG that has already been converted.
How do I stop PSP4X Raw from doing the second update?
I think it would be useful to start a new discussion thread as to what we feel about X6 Camera RAW Lab and (hopefully) it's replacement in the next PSP Version - X7.
Personally I need to say that I abandoned trying to use Camera RAW Lab and instead use Corel's AfterShot Pro ASP (or else Canon's Digital Photo Professional DPP). My stance is that Corel should aim to reproduce as much as possible of ASP within PSP. Fundamentally this means a new RAW Conversion mechanism for PSP.
In the meantime, I do RAW Conversion in ASP or DPP and then use the External Editor facility (Ctrl+E in ASP or Ctrl+B in DPP) to pass the image as a TIFF file that is automatically loaded into PSP.
From the RAW Conversion in ASP, I believe that we would want the following features in PSP:- Exposure Adjustment. This is essential and is something Howard Dickson has pointed out, together with Shadows & Highlights sliders. Highlight Recovery and Blacks. This is important to adjust for over/under-exposure and has to be done in RAW. RAW Noise adjustment including features comparable to Noise Ninja or whatever Corel plan to use.
At this stage, it is possible to use all the normal PSP Editing facilities on the resultant image.
I would like to know why is abr conversion still restricted to 999px ? I have bought a lot of high res brushes and would love to be able to use them in PSP but 999px is just way too small.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am finding that if I select a range of files to rename that already have numbers at the end, say 1 - 12, it is changing the order of the files and seeing the files numbered 10 - 12 before the file numbered 2. I am pretty sure it didn't work this way in X3.

I'm in the process of creating an mpg of a load of photos and movies taken on my camera. I want to have a small transparent border around the slides so they fit in the "safe area" of the TV and I can show a moving image behind the slides (especially the portrait ones).
I know that I can resize the photos and then resize the canvas to give me my border and I can then do "Save As" PNG to get the border transparent.
I have a few hundred photos so what I want to know is, is it possible to utilize PSPs built in "Batch Process" on the files and make use of the "Use Script" option.
I have recorded a script which does all the resizing and saving but when I look at the script it has the name of the file hard coded in it.
What I want to do is use the "Batch Process" to select all the files, run the script on them and then save them into a different folder (something I've done many time for other projects just not with the transparent bit).

Can PSP do this in a batch process?
I frequently use a script to resize .jpgs from 3600x3600 to 1000x1000 dpi to save space on my hard drive. After resizing 300+ .jpgs last night, I found that they all retained their original file size. An image that started out as 3600x3600 dpi with a file size such as 3.5mb that was resized to 1000x1000 dpi using the script in X4 still had a file size of 3.5mb when it should have been considerably smaller than 1mb. I relaunched the application and rebooted my computer but no change. To fix the problem I had to run the .jpgs thru the batch process again using the same script but in X3.
The script I was using was created in X3 so I tried creating an identical script in X4. Regardless of which script I used in the X4 batch process, the same thing happened.
This problem seems to be unique to the script and/or batch process. I can open a .jpg file in X4, resize it from 3600x3600 to 1000x1000 dpi, save the changes, and the file size changes accordingly.
Is there a way in PSPX5 or X6 to rename a picture (or string of pictures) so that I can have a "Constant such as VACATION_" followed by the create date from the EXIF data as YYYY-MM-DD followed by a sequence number?

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Canon 7D typically produces a JPG file in the 5B to 12MB range if set to the largest JPG quality. My problem is that if I open for example a 7MB file in Photo Pro X3 and save it again (even if I make no changes) the resulting file is about 2MB. Obviously some compression is happening which I want to avoid/control. Is it possible to set the default compression that X3 uses?
If I use file - export - JPG optimizer I can control things but if I for example want to do a batch process on lots of files. I have used Paint shop Pro since version 5 and love it but I might have to change to another editor if I cannot solve this one.
I have been trying to batch edit several JPG files using "perfectly clear" but I keep getting an error. It complains that FileSaveAs is crashing. I spent some time looking at the corel files and they says something about "FileSaveAs" won't work if it not in the "Scripts-Trusted" folder. However I cannot find it (FileSaveAs) so I can move it over to the Trusted Folder. I CAN find the scripts-trusted folder.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI created a folder on my flash drive. I'm trying to use Batch Process to copy the files to the drive. I'm not adding a script. The name of the new folder comes up in the dialogue box, but when I click on the start button I get a notice that the file already exits and do I want to overwrite it. I click on yes. All the photos are then copied, but when I go to the new folder in my flash drive it's empty.
I'm following the instructions in Diane Koers book on PSP X4.
Also, I can't seem to use Batch Process to save my JPEGs and TIFFs. Is it possible to do this.
I have 105 files that I would like to compress down. I have searched these forums but didn't find any threads related to my inquiry.When I create a script to compress to 96dpi there are weird color/light artifacts in the resulting pics. When I do the "save for office" function the pics get even smaller with no artifacts.
1. what settings does the "save for office" compressor use so that I can recreate thru other means

I'm using Photoshop 7.01. I have a bunch of 16-bit TIFFs that I want to batch convert to 8-bit JPEG FINE.
I created a manual action, which works fine, hook it up to F2 and open up 50 tiffs at the same time. Start hitting F2 and the files disappear and I end up with a nice bunch of jpegs.
Now I want to automate it, so I create a new action.
Open TIFF
Change to 8-bit
Save as jpeg
Close
When I run a batch, choose a source folder and target folder, and kick it off, I see all the files open and close, but only the first one (used in my example to create the action) ends up as a jpeg, followed by a bunch of TIFFs.
As far as I can tell, the action opens all the files one after the other, but it always saves the same file.
So, in my output folder, I get 1 JPEG followed by 250 different TIFFs, but the JPEG always appears on my screen for a split second during the save sequence, so it looks like it is being saved 250 times...
It's possible to do bach IDW to DWG conversion, but autodesk doesn't provide a tool to do the opposite:

I have about 500+ idws that has to be converted to dwg. No problem I thought... just use the task scheduler and create a task (Convert IDW to DWG) to do it.
That works.... but there is a small problem. The DWG that it saves has the data in paper space. Of coarse, the customer requires it to be in Model Space.
Is there a way to do this with the Task Scheduler? or some other way, short of manually opening/saving each idw. I don't own KwikBatch Runx64 and was hoping we could do this without purchasing something else.
I need to convert from bitmap images to PNGs with the command line. I've tried looking into script-fu, but lisp is one of those languages I could never figure out.
I've tried using imagemagick, but it did not properly convert the images. The images are apparently 32bit Windows Bitmap V3 files with an alpha channel; according to a page I found on google, imagemagick will not preserve the alpha channel in this particular case. I don't know for certain if that's the actual reason why imagemagick isn't working, but it definitely isn't working. It does, however, work if done manually in gimp.
This is going to be part of a python script, so I need it to convert a specific bitmap file rather than all the ones in a directory.
Up until a month or so ago, using photoshop CS5 - windows, a batch psd conversion of nummerous files say fred1. psd through fred10.psd gave me fred1 jpeg through fred10.jpeg. I saveconversions to a dump jpeg folder on another drive where there are also, dump psd and dump tiff with tiff not being much used.

Using actions, the first conversion of a series will be fred.jpeg but thereafter it will be fred1 copy.jpeg through fred10 copy .jpeg. No big deal for a few files as the word copy can be deleted. However, if a jpeg file say fred.jpeg needs to be updated in say a slide show or web site then the new conversion of the updated file as fred copy.jpeg causes identity problems.

how can I return to the situation where fred.psd becomes fred.jpeg and not fred copy.jpeg. This does not seem to happen for individual conversions the manual way. I tried to convert to jpeg 2000 but the same happened. I'm not sure about jpeg 2000 and how it would work if taking to a phot processor for "photographic" prints.
I have a folder full of images and I'd like them all to be in the 8x6 ratio, with white as the background if any canvas size needs to be changed. I can do a batch and make every picture a canvas size of 800x600, but if the original is 1100x240 that doesn't help me much, I'll loose alot of the image's width.
So I just want to convert the image's canvas size to be in the ratio of 8x6. Is this possible with Photoshop CS or Photoshop CS2?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've tried to convert several files using "Process multiple files" in Photoshop Elements 10. Input files are CMYK psd files with one layer and transparent background. They should be resized and converted to PNG. It works excepting the transparency in the PNG files is missing - the background is white instead. The conversion works however if I open a single file, convert it to RGB after prompt and save it as PNG. The background is transparent as it should.
