View 4 RepliesIs it possible to resize a batch of jpegs and also to do a batch conversion of jpegs to gifs,to save time?
View 4 RepliesUp until a month or so ago, using photoshop CS5 - windows, a batch psd conversion of nummerous files say fred1. psd through fred10.psd gave me fred1 jpeg through fred10.jpeg. I saveconversions to a dump jpeg folder on another drive where there are also, dump psd and dump tiff with tiff not being much used.
Â
Using actions, the first conversion of a series will be fred.jpeg but thereafter it will be fred1 copy.jpeg through fred10 copy .jpeg. No big deal for a few files as the word copy can be deleted. However, if a jpeg file say fred.jpeg needs to be updated in say a slide show or web site then the new conversion of the updated file as fred copy.jpeg causes identity problems.
Â
how can I return to the situation where fred.psd becomes fred.jpeg and not fred copy.jpeg. This does not seem to happen for individual conversions the manual way. I tried to convert to jpeg 2000 but the same happened. I'm not sure about jpeg 2000 and how it would work if taking to a phot processor for "photographic" prints.

Make Action to Batch process PDF to JPEGs saved for the web
I have about 80-100 pdf's that I want to change from 300dpi to 100dpi indexed color and save as gif.
If I create an action
Convert pdf to gif
with steps
Mode > Indexed Color
Save as gif
running this action as a batch only opens the files. I am left with files open in RGB mode, not indexed color. This means the batch processor did not run any of the steps in my action. (Yes, I did make sure in the batch dialog that I specified my action set.)
Here is my action in the action menu.
pdf to gif
Convert mode
To: indexed color mode
Pallette: adaptive
Colors: 64
Forced: Black and white
Without transparency
Matte: None
Save
As: Compuserve GIF
With Interlace
In: ...
Here are my steps, using a test folder with 2 pdf's:
1. Launch Photoshop
2. File > Automate > Batch
3. Batch dialog:
Set [my set]
Action [pdf to gif]
Source: Folder
Choose: [my test folder with 2 pdf's]
Destination: Folder
Choose: [my testgif folder, empty]
File naming: Document name + extension
Errors: Log errors to file
File: [my testgif folder, empty]/error.txt
4. OK
5. Set resolution to 100dpi.
6. Click OK for 1st pdf.
7. Click OK for 2nd pdf.
Actual result:
Both files open and stay open.
Both files are still RGB mode.
No gif's in testgif folder.
errors.txt reads:
Start Batch
End Batch
Expected result:
Files closed (possibly I have to add a Close step)
2 gifs in the testgif folder.
Using an action of Save for Web in place of Mode > Indexed color also did not create any gifs.
I'm wondering whether the PDF dialog on open is throwing a wrench into the works.
I'm using Photoshop 7.01. I have a bunch of 16-bit TIFFs that I want to batch convert to 8-bit JPEG FINE.
I created a manual action, which works fine, hook it up to F2 and open up 50 tiffs at the same time. Start hitting F2 and the files disappear and I end up with a nice bunch of jpegs.
Now I want to automate it, so I create a new action.
Open TIFF
Change to 8-bit
Save as jpeg
Close
When I run a batch, choose a source folder and target folder, and kick it off, I see all the files open and close, but only the first one (used in my example to create the action) ends up as a jpeg, followed by a bunch of TIFFs.
As far as I can tell, the action opens all the files one after the other, but it always saves the same file.
So, in my output folder, I get 1 JPEG followed by 250 different TIFFs, but the JPEG always appears on my screen for a split second during the save sequence, so it looks like it is being saved 250 times...
I have recently switched to shoot my photos in RAW format. I do the usual adjustments in Camera Raw and the hit "Open Image". Next is that I save my image as JPEG with the Maximum Quality. Once I look at my saved JPEG file though I find that most of them have a lot of noise and seem not to reflect any adjustments that I did to the RAW file.
View 9 Replies View RelatedHave been reading thread that one had posted about converting PSD to JPEG. From what I have read, seems as though no matter what you can not replicate the image you have created as PSD. I have worked on a photo that was taken on my BB and to my pleasant surprise have been able to correct several issues. I believe it looks so much better because of flattening and 16bit application.
Must say color, focus(originally was terribly out of focus) everything is great. However, cannot covert and keep the work I have already done with Photoshop. Can I convert to JPEG or any other format that allows sharing without sacrificing what I have as PSD ?
I have an older version of Photoshop, (7.0), but I'm sure the Batch Conversion Process is similar with all versions. I have a folder of photos, (large file sizes), I'd like to reduce each file size to a little bigger than a Thumnail size. This is hopefully something I can do bysetting the same parameters to all the photos. Here's what I've figured out (so far)FileAutomateBatchChoose Source FolderChoose Destination Folder That's about it - when I choose both folders, I can't seem to pull up the parameters to reduce the file sizes.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a folder full of images and I'd like them all to be in the 8x6 ratio, with white as the background if any canvas size needs to be changed. I can do a batch and make every picture a canvas size of 800x600, but if the original is 1100x240 that doesn't help me much, I'll loose alot of the image's width.
So I just want to convert the image's canvas size to be in the ratio of 8x6. Is this possible with Photoshop CS or Photoshop CS2?
i am running photoshop 6.0.1 on win2000.
I need to know how to batch convert many tif images from 200 dpi to 300 dpi.
do i need to modify a .atn file? is there a plug-in or something?
I use PS CS5 and LR4 on my Mac. I also have the prior versions of both on the Mac, too. I run the SL OS.
Â
Here's my question: I have about 500 images in .PCD and I want to batch convert them to .TIFF format. Is there a plug-in I can use or should I go to a third party app?
I've tried to convert several files using "Process multiple files" in Photoshop Elements 10. Input files are CMYK psd files with one layer and transparent background. They should be resized and converted to PNG. It works excepting the transparency in the PNG files is missing - the background is white instead. The conversion works however if I open a single file, convert it to RGB after prompt and save it as PNG. The background is transparent as it should.
Â
So why my pngs are not transparent when using batch conversion?
I want to batch convert some .psd images into jpegs in pse 10 or 11. I know you can batch convert for image resizing, but don"t see the ability to convert images from one format into another.Â
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a not-moving .jpeg image and I want to put 5 different animated .gif images on top of that .jpeg image background but I don't want those 5 .gif images to stop moving.
This is what I'm talking about:
I want to learn how to make .gif images like these using GIMP 2.8.6. I have searched for tutorials for this but they are only for putting a single gif on top of a still image, not multiple gifs on top of a still image.
After upgrading to Mountain Lion Photoshop CS4 won't allow batching several images to certain folders on our servers.

The destination is not writable (read-only).
This has been "bugging" me for a while.
1) Open a raw file (.CR2)
2) output the file to JPG or open directly
===> i.e. the resulting image is 3888 x 2592
3) use Automate > Fit Image
===> i.e. 1200 pixels (reducing the image by a factor of 3.24)
======> The result should be 1200 x 800 pixels
However the batch conversion would be result in 1200 x 801 pixel.
Even if I were to add a step 2.5 as follows
2.5) image > image size > 1200 x 800
After automate > Fit Image (1200) it would still result in 1200 x 801 pixels!
What's broken with photoshop?
The only fix I've stumbled across so far would be to use an external programme to strip all the exif and attached metadata, only then would the "Fit Image" script work.
Having one extra pixel doesn't really matter most of the times, but it's does get on my nerves.
Advice sought: How can I fix this?
I have a bunch of JPEG's ranging from 2MB to 5MB. I want to batch resize them so that each of them will be exactly 400KB in size. How can I do that with Photoshop CS2?
View 5 Replies View RelatedThere are seems to be a lot of ways to resize many pictures at once. However, I need to resize one picture into about 100 different sizes, then do the same thing to about 10 other pictures.

Photoshop CS2 & CS3 will not open my NEF raw files {Nikon D300}. Both versions have always opened my raw files. Also, CS3 locks up when I batch resize jpgs.

View 2 Replies View RelatedIt's possible to do bach IDW to DWG conversion, but autodesk doesn't provide a tool to do the opposite:
Inventor's DWG to IDW
I have about 500+ idws that has to be converted to dwg. No problem I thought... just use the task scheduler and create a task (Convert IDW to DWG) to do it.
That works.... but there is a small problem. The DWG that it saves has the data in paper space. Of coarse, the customer requires it to be in Model Space.
Is there a way to do this with the Task Scheduler? or some other way, short of manually opening/saving each idw. I don't own KwikBatch Runx64 and was hoping we could do this without purchasing something else.
I need to convert from bitmap images to PNGs with the command line. I've tried looking into script-fu, but lisp is one of those languages I could never figure out.
I've tried using imagemagick, but it did not properly convert the images. The images are apparently 32bit Windows Bitmap V3 files with an alpha channel; according to a page I found on google, imagemagick will not preserve the alpha channel in this particular case. I don't know for certain if that's the actual reason why imagemagick isn't working, but it definitely isn't working. It does, however, work if done manually in gimp.
This is going to be part of a python script, so I need it to convert a specific bitmap file rather than all the ones in a directory.
I will try and describe my situation regarding the manipulation of images that have various dimensions, and to downsize and down sample to a particular uniform size for all. After I can create this so called action, I will then use it to process thousands of images through batch processing.
Scenario:
- [Origin] Folder Containing Hi-Res CMYK camera-ready .tiff photos
- [Destination] Folder containing low-res RGB web .jpg photos
- [New File Preset] 350px wide x 375px tall; RGB; Adobe 1998; White background; 8bit
The current process that I use to get my camera ready files to web pics, is through an action that I have set up.
These steps play in my action (including new file preset, specs above):
-1. Hi-res file contains only 1 layer which contains a mask to cut the image from it's background;
-2. Selection is made from layer mask
-3. Layer is set to active retaining mask selection
-4. copy (image contained within selection is copied)
-5. paste into new file (preset above [New File preset])
From this point I manually size the photo to fit within the new file size preset by transforming the pasted layer and dragging (downsize) by the handles. After this I simply save file as a .jpg
This action is just fine for single files but will not work for batch processing because 99 percent of my hi-res files are much larger than 350x375 which will leave them pasted at actual size and cut off.
My first solution was to include a step in the action that would resize the image down to the size needed. The problem that I am now faced with is that when you include the transform command in an action, it just records the 'percent' value which has varying results.
To sum it up, I would like to batch process many images at once with an action that will take my destination images and manipulate them and store them in my target low-res folder. The final dimensions will be 350px wide x 375px tall which is rectangular. My files vary in size and proportion; some being tall rectangular, wide rectangular, and square. The initial dpi is 300 but when finished it will need to be 72.
I have experimented using the 'image resize' command but not getting a result that will work with all proportions of images.
Whenever I open the batch conversion window a file always appears in the main file list window; I have to manually remove it (pressing clear) before using the browse button.
View 3 Replies View Relatedhow you would batch resize a ton of photos to 50 % of its original size. The workflow I've had before is going trough image processor and doing the resizing when I'm converting to .jpeg. The only problem with image processor is that the resizing doesn't seem to be smart enough to differenciate horizontal with vertical.
So say I choose a specific resolution of 2880 x 1920p all my horizontal pictures are great, but the vertical ones turn out at 1280 x 1920p.Â
Â
So how do I batch resize in a way that photoshop would know to turn horizontal pictures to 2880 x 1920p and vertical ones to 1920 x 2880p?
I am using Photoshop CS3 Extended
I am familiar with batch jobs in Photoshop.
I have images that vary in pixel size and resolution.
This project is for an online gift registry. First, we are hosting the images, but they have restraints due their web/system programming. So what I was told by the company was they need the images to be 300 x 300 pixel images at 72dpi. They said they would settle for 300 width only and let me scale the proportions and not worry about the height as I want to batch the process. But they stressed 300 width and 72dpi.
What I have tried is batch resizing all of them to 300 pixel width, worked fine. Then I batched changing the resolution to 72. But it changed all the pixel dimensions to various sizes. So then I tried to batch 300 pixel width and 72 resolution at one time at it ends up the same way. So what do I need to do to get 300 x 300 pixel and 72dpi?
1)I have read plenty of PPI vs DPI. Is "resolution" in Photoshop, PPI?
2)Was what they probably meant by 72dpi actually 72ppi?
3)How do I accomplish this?
