I have Lightroom v. 4.1. In the process to update to v. 4.2, I receive a message that disk space is insufficient. There is over 500 GB on the hard drive. The update is halted at this time. I am using a Mac, OS Lion.
View 1 RepliesUsing VS 9 to create an 82 minute project I'm trying to export it as an AVI file. At the end of the rendering process I get the message "insufficient space". I've tried twice, once on C drive which shows 340GB unused and also on an external drive that shows 196GB unused.
I've noticed that on the timeline the clips total 1hr 22min but there is then a long empty portion that goes to 3hr 10min.
Since updating to LR4.2 and moving files around my backup files have grown too much, like 40GB over the last week. If I should uninstalled LR4.2 then re-installed, how do I locate those backup files (perhaps hidden!) before re-installing ?

View 12 Replies View RelatedI have a relatively large photo catalog (200k photos +) that I am in the process of paring down with Lightroom 5. Along the way I have kept certain groups of photos published to Flickr using Smart Photosets so that if I eliminate a duplicate photo from the catalog I will be able to "re-publish" and eliminate that duplicate from the published collection.
My Catalog Files, My Backups, and the actual image files that are referenced in the catalog are all located on an external drive. I did this so that I could have everything on one drive for the time being while I eliminate a ton of photos from the catalog.
The issue that I am running into is that while a collection is being published to Flickr I get a message popping up telling me that I am low on disk space on my local (C) drive and that I need to free up some space. This is odd because everything is located on the external drive (catalog and image files) and I am publishing to Flickr.
I am just trying to figure out if there is a default somewhere that is causing Lightroom to create new thumbnails or previews somewhere on my C drive while I am publishing images to Flickr or something like that. What sort of data might be accumulating in the process here? And is there anyway to move it all or eliminate it for the time being while I am finishing the elimination of duplicate files from my catalog?
Here's what I have:
250 GB Internal Hard-Disk (with Lightroom catalog on it)
60 GB Internal SSD-Disk (with Mac OS X Lion 10.7 on it)
2 TB External Hard-Disk (place where I try make my backup to)
There is only appox. 6 GB free space on system disk (SSD). When I start to make catalog backup to External 2 TB disk, it makes it long time (copying files to External disk), then after a while Lightroom starts to "Optimizing catalog". And during this optimizing, Lightroom starts to eat disk space on the system disk (SSD). More and more, and then finally it show me the message "Lightroom was unable to back up the catalog named "XXXXX". Please check your folder permissions, and make sure that you have available space on your backup drive and main catalog's drive."
The problem is that I actually HAVE free space on 250 GB disk (where catalog is located) and on External 2 TB (where is backup destination).Lightroom says NOTHING about the fact that he needs lots of free space on SYSTEM disk. But it actually eats it.And what I want to ask, whether it is possible to make Lightroom use space on another disk, not on system?
When I look the properties of C: it shows 195 GB space available?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've tried doing a block that automatically updates the X and Y coordinates from its moveable leader. I can get it to work in model space or paper space. But my problem is I want it to work in PS, but update with the MS coordinates through the viewport.
I can get it to update, by LISP, by picking a point and passing the points to the blocks attributes. At the moment I have a LISP when actioned it locks the viewports, activates the viewport, and asks you to select a point. Once selected it de-activates the viewport (going back into layout tab) then asks which block you want to update. Where you now select the block and it updates the coordinates. I.e. manually pick the point in MS, switch to PS and then manually pick the block. Then I have to manually modify the leader to the correct location.
I'm hoping that I can (In PS) move the end of the leader to snap to a position in MS and the coord updates to reflect the correct MS coordinates. I'm thinking that maybe this can't be done automatically and that I maybe can move the leader but I'm not sure how I can do it without running a LISP to update the block?
I'd be happy moving the leader then just running a single command and the leader coordinates updating without having to select the points and the block again.
I've attached the block showing the auto update of the attributes (fields).
I have the PhotoDelux home edition that came installed on my computer (using Windows XP). Now I can not open any more pictures with the program because it is telling me that the scratch disk is full. I have tried for hours to find an explanation somewhere on how to make space on the scratch disk, but the little bit that I found is over my head. I guess I know less about computers than I thought....

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm using PSE/PE 11 with latest updates, Win7 64bit (again, latest updates). I7 cpu w/8GB ram.
When I attempt a backup of the catalog (EVEN after optimizing & reconnecting) to an internal HDD (SSD) with 188GB free - NO LUCK. Attempt another backup to a different internal HDD with 345GB free - NO LUCK - the app says I must free up some disk space/not enough space. My catalog size from System Info shows 21.6MB but within the Backup app of Organizer, it says it is trying to backup 612,678.10MB.
I have some very serious problems when i am working in a big part with maximum features.
I get a message saying that:
The application has used up the maximum allowable disk space (1200 MB)
The second problem is:
The space in C: keeps increasing. I dont know how the space in C: increased even after having the ipt file in D:

View 10 Replies View RelatedI have calculated some test renders on a small portion of the timeline in order to check things up. Now I would like to delete them and calculate everything at a later time.
Do you know the way to delete renders in order to save hard disk space ? I have tried the "force purge" function, but it didn't delete anything, the "Autodesk media storage" folder is still the same size...
And manually deleting renders in the "Autodesk media storage" folder messes everything up.
I have PSE 10 on my MAC. I normally download my photos onto iPhoto (and a while ago, onto Bridge CS3 which came with an earlier version of PSE) but more recently have become interested in using the PSE Organizer for my photo library. I have started to transfer/copy the photos from iPhoto but, having read various topics on organizing photos, am a little worried that by having the photos in 2/3 places on the MAC I will use much more hard-disk space. I know that the original files for iPhoto are in the 'Library' so that I just see thumbnails on iPhoto ( I may be wrong here?), but will the photos I now have on Organizer be working off those same 'Library' originals or am I doubling up on the space required to store these photos?

The error message says "Insufficient Memory was Available to Complete the Operation". The same image at 300 dpi worked where the 600 did not work. There is 3gb of RAM on my machine. I am wondering if there is a problem with AI here, and if there is a way to allocate more memory to the program. I don't mind using the 300-resolution image, but would like to learn something about Illustrator from this issue. Is there a way to fix the problem or to adjust the memory usage in Illustrator CS4?

I am having a problem opening some larger revit models (100MB plus) in revit 2012 I will receive a message saying:
Insufficient memory for load. This computer does not have enough memory to open 'file name' in autodesk revit architecture 2012. Increase the available memory or contact Autodesk support for more information.
We are working on Windows XP SP3 with 3.23gb RAM. Now normally it would be as simple as upgrading the RAM on this machine to 4GB as specified in the system requirements for 2012, but a previous computer I was testing with only 2GB RAM was able to open these files without any issues (despite being a little slower).
The only difference I can see at this stage is the 3GB switch is enables in the 2gb machine.
I got “Insufficient Memory” error messages in working on the job needed large files ( > 100MB) with AI 5.5 in office with below #1 PC spec. Error message starts to happen after working 15min to 1 hour depends on the file. I need to restart computer in each “Insufficient Memory” error message pop-up (otherwise the messages will continue to pop-up). Sometimes the file can’t be saved after the error message occurred.
I have never encountered this memory issue at my home with below #2 Mac spec.#1 PC spec looks better than #2 Mac spec. Why PC can’t perform like Mac does? I use Illustrator CS 5 and am working with a large image. Problem is, when I sometimes try to save my Illustrator file as a joeg I get the dreaded "Insufficient memory was available to complete the operation" error message. It doesn't happen every time BUT when it does its a pain because I have to close all my programs and restart my computer.

Coreldraw is a 32 Bit Windows xp professional and my pc has 3 GB RAM Intel Core Duo CPU E7400 I can't resolve this problem until now.
Windows 7, had everything working fine. Added SSD and installed system from scratch on SSD. Old drive is now my second drive.
Trying to put the scratch disk on the second (old) drive to reduce wear on the SSD. But every time I do, I get the disk error message and it erases all my settings (so annoying!)
I figure it's a permissions thing since I've had to deal with that already to some degree, but I don't know how to fix it since I don't know where adobe is trying to save the scratch file.
When I export RAW files, specifying that I want the output to be in sRGB color space the resulting files have the Adobe RGB color space. The same is true if I specify I want them in ProPhoto. Is this a bug? I have done it successfully in other versions of Lightroom, but not in 4.3.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have LR 4.2 on Windows 7 x64 (having recently upgraded from LR3).After flagging images in a collection as rejected I want to remove them from disk.In LR3 I just clicked Ctrl + Backspace and I had the option to delete from disk or just remove from catalogue, I don't get that option in LR4
worked fine in LR3. I've searched the preferences and can't see any option, I've also clicked "reset all dialogues" in case that was hiding the option but still nothing. I've tried in Library and Develop and no option still, I can only remove from catalog
After using a map on my ssd I want to move it to an other disk.. just drag and drop you say... yes but that wanted disk is way down under and out of sight; and the window is not scrolling down when I "pull" on it.
So I can not reach the wanted disk.. what to do?
