How do I move numerous folders and subfolders of photos to a different hard drive?
The hard drive I want to move to shows up in the LR Library Left Panel under Folders, but I can't drag and drop the photos from the C Drive to this D drive.
I have been working with LR for about a month; and I've uploaded about 2000 photos I have taken since about a year ago; organized by folders for year and date. I just realized LR has been putting almost all my photos on my C Drive. There is one folder of photos in LR on the D Drive. I don't recall how I got that folder to go on the D Drive while the rest are on the C Drive.
I don't want any data on my C Drive. I use my C Drive primarily for my Operating Systems and applications.
My wife and I have been using LR for a long time. We're currently on version 4. Unfortunately, she's not as tech-savvy or meticulous as I am, and she has been unknowingly "Removing" photos from the LR catalog when she really meant to delete them from the hard disk. That means we have hundreds of unwanted raw photo files floating around in our computer and no way to pick them out from the ones we want! As a very organized and space-conscious person, I can't stand the thought. So my question is, what is the most efficient way to permanently delete these unwanted photos from the hard disk
I did find to synchronize the parent folder with their respective catalogues, select all the photos in "Previous Import," and delete those, since they will be all of the photos that were previously removed from the catalogue.
This is a great suggestion, but it probably wouldn't work for all of my catalog since my file structure is organized by date (the default setting for LR). So, two catalogues will share the same "parent folder" in the sense that they both have photos from May 2013, but if I synchronize May 2013 with one, then it will get all the duds PLUS the photos that belong in the other catalog.
I recently went bi-platform (IMac and Windows computers being used). I have a home network. My Lightroom cat and all my images originally resided on my Windows computer's harddrives (four on board). After purchasing the IMac, I installed Lightroom on it and copied my cat files to it as well. All my photos continue to reside on my Windows computer's four internal harddrives so I turned on Sharing on the Windows computer for a test drive. (Yep, the photos are backed up to external drives). Anyway, when I launched my cat on the IMac in Lightroom, the thumbs and corresponding data appear just fine but when I point the thumb to the photo file on the shared harddrive, the thumb in the catalog disappears. Major bummer! Fortunately, I haven't done a bulk "find" otherwise I would have lost the entire catalog contents.
Will Lightroom not work with photos stored on shared internal harddrives via home network?? I have read that it does work with photos stored on external harddrives but I would prefer to keep my photos on the four internal harddrives.
I love deleting my photos from both the catalog and my disk but the default "lit up" button on LR3 is only to delete from the catalog. Why to do that and then have an uncataloged picture sitting on their drive.
Is there any way to shift the "default" highlighted button to the delete from disk button so I can just press return when I go to delete my rejected pix?
I have one hard disk filling up with photos, so I have purchased a secondary hard disk to expand my storage. I would like to move my shoots from 2010 to that new hard disk, but I don't want to loose all of the edits saved on them in LR3. I have experimented with moving non-important images that have edits on them, then re-importing them. Unfortunately, LR3 does not preserve that history.

I'm just trying out LR5. I've watched vidoes where in LR4 you can setup a slideshow to play from a folder, and while the slideshow is playing you can take new photos from a tethered camera and it will automatically add it to the slideshow.
In LR5, on my computer (Mac), the incoming photo seems to get stuck and does not make it into the slideshow. I have to stop the slideshow, and restart it to see the new incoming photo taken by tethered camera. I need this function for an event, so I'm just wondering whether I'm doing something wrong, or whether it is a bug in LR5?
I've selected the mode "Use: All Filmstrip Photos". What I've observed is that while playing the slideshow without going fuill screen, a newly taken photo from the tethered camera appears as a white tile, but then the thumbnail contents do not change. When I stop the slideshow, the photo then gets "Developed" and then it will be in the slideshow the next time I play it.
After the X6.2 service pack everything looked fine at first, but when dropping bitmaps, Draw now regularly complains about missing the color profile. Of course the bitmaps have profiles embedded, and Draw had never complained about those same bitmaps before. Well, I have everything in AdobeRGB or IsoCoated v2 CMYK, and these are also the standard settings in CorelDraw. So it didn't make a difference eventually, colors remained the same to the numbers.
However, I re-calibrated my display a little later, installed the new profile, opened Draw and was shocked: stridently over-saturated colors in bitmap images as well as in vector graphics, nowhere near their appearance in four-color print (they had been pretty close before). In other color-managed applications everything looks fine, only CorelDraw is concerned. It still does respond to display profile changes, it does adjust colors when a different profile is installed, but the over-saturation is always there. Color definitions are not changed and output is as ever, it is only Corel's rendering of display colors.
I believe that this reaction to a change of the system display profile and the ignorance of profiles embedded in bitmaps go back to the same problem with color management.
Is there a registry hack or something to make it recognize color profiles properly again, or do we have to wait for the next SP to fix a bug brought in by the last?
I can select a rating and a color label for my images, but I can not sort by rating and color label. when I click on the filter drop down, color label is not one of the options. how do I get both ratings and color lables as an option to sort with.
View 3 Replies View RelatedToday is the first day with Lightroom 3, where I have over 200 photos from an event, that I am walking through each photo. I am in the develop module and I am setting the color label to red or blue. What seems to be constantly (not every time) happening is when I click the color for the label, LR will move to the next photo, but not apply the color label.
As I write this I'm trying it out to notice a pattern. What I see is photo 1, I click on the red label and the photo is labeled red and LR moves to photo 2. I click on the red label and LR does not set any color label and moves to photo 3.
Another thing that happened is I was then at photo 3 and clicked on the blue label. LR did not set the blue label but jumped to photo 4 and put the blue label on that photo
I've tried this several times, but it doesn't work. Lightroom CC will import metadata and even star ratings, but it won't import the color label data assigned to the images from within Bridge. How can I get that information to be imported?
In other words, working in Bridge CC I assigned star ratings and color labels to a folder full of JPG files. When I import those files into Lightroom CC, the images, metadata and the star ratings are imported, but no color label data was imported. None of the images have color labels when viewed in LR. They still retain the color labels when I view the files in Bridge CC, but they don't appear in LR.
I have something like 1,850 photos, taken in RAW and later converted to DNG, to create a stop motion. All the photos were taken with the same camera (Canon 5D Mk II) and most of them with a 24-70L. All were taken in the same lighting conditions (in an interior, with the house lighting from flourescent lights) and the same day, in a period of maybe 2 or 3 hours. Each "take" was with the exact same camera and exposure parameters.
When processing the photos in Lightroom (using the LR4 beta) I can see some minor but very noticeable differences between color an exposure in the photos of the same "take". The exposure can be more or less automatically corrected by the Matching total exposures (although I think this doesn't work when the exposures are really similar, but there are some subtle differences like in this case, say, something along ~1/5 stop or so), but I haven't found how to try to match the white balance. All of the photos have already been set to a specific WB (I took a ColorChecker Passport at the beginning of the session), but there are still some differences between some of the shots. Some of them look a tad more greener. I blame the flourescent bulbs, but I'm not sure of the real cause.
So, the question is: is there a way to match the color balance of a series of photos to a target one? I really don't want to go photo by photo setting the white balance manually. Is there a tool like the Match total exposures, but for color balance? I have already tried with the automatic white balance, but the problem is that the decided WB for the photos is not the one I need, and I need to have the same WB for all the session, and this could change from different takes. The difference between shots is usually around 4 or 5 "points" in the Tint scale, some are with Tint +11, some with +15.
Or any other tool that could process this after? At the end I'll use JPGs to create the stop motion, so if there is a tool that could process the exported jpgs it could work too.
I am trying to drag and drop files out of one folder and put into a subfolder in the library module but it wont let me and I am wondering if there is a navigation menu that will allow me to do the same?

The metadata for one or more of these photos has been changed by another application. Should Lightroom import settings from disk or overwrite disk settings with those from the catalog?
What exactly does that mean? This seems to happen every time I export an image to PS (CS5) and return to LR. What exactly has changed? What settings are being imported if I choose 'import settings from disk'.
I take RAW photos using Canon DSLRs and I use to edit CR2 files.I've just got a brand new Lightroom 5 boxed with my new 5D camera and started to use it,
When I open the photos in the library or in develop mode I see the photos in good and light colors in the miniatures in the bottom of the screen.
When I double click on a photo, it opens up in a bigger format and it looks also beautiful (in the same way I can see in the photocamera display), however after around 1 second of "loading" the photo changes its colors and it's no more bright and beautiful it changes in more dull colors.
how to keep the camera settings in raw files and edit the photos starting from the edits that the camera made?

I can easily set the white balance to correct one area, but I'm looking for a way to adjust the other area(s). I think an adjustment brush is the way to go, and I was wondering if there was a magic preset to apply to color correct those areas, or some other method I haven't thought of.
