I want to relocate my Lightroom 4 - Catalogue file and Catalogue previous files from my computer's hard disk to an external hard disk. Is this possible by simply dragging and dropping the relevant files to the new location?

Example, I have PSE 7 on Computer A and want to transfer/setup on Computer B all of the relevant files needed by PSE 7. View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen trying to place an image into a new document in photoshop elements 12, I select all-copy-paste the image (or even drag it) over to the new doc created. However, when I do this - the image does not paste in at the same size. It typically shrinks down in size. Do I have to save the file, close out and then open the new doc and PLACE it in the document in order for it to keep size? There must be a better way to do this. Basically, how can I drag a photo that is 4x6 over to a new doc while keeping the size at 4x6.

I then have to drag the other end point in the opposite location to a location that I pick (ie, not a cad feature, but by human eye)
POLAR works good in that i know the angle, but the line is allowed to be drawn wherever, and i need to focus on precisely where i extend the line too and not that the angle is changing.
I have my photos stored on my network drive and my office computer. Initially I started editing my photos off the network drive, mainly because I hadn't realized the location I had chosen. Now I'm having trouble with my network drive going offline intermittantly, making editing a chore because I keep getting "unable to locate file" messages. My question is, can I start using the same photos, which are stored on my office computer, and not lose the edits I have already made?

I now have 2 external drives that mirror each other for storing the files more securely, and have already copied all the raw files (quite a long process) over. I tried to setup a new catalog for the new workflow, not thinking that Lightroom doesn't mess with the original files, and have lost all my edits. I still have the original catalog and all the raw files still on my internal HD, but what I need to know is how to move it over and keep the edits? Do I really have to redo everything in lighroom directly?

Then there is a list of images (usually all of the photos imported). This didn't always happen and I can't pinpoint exactly when it started. My LR catalog and backups are stored on an EHD.
I am currently saving all of my metadata to files (just to be sure) and backing up my catalog so I can upgrade to LR5 (already purchased) but want to be sure my catalog is good before I do that.I've tried everything I know - checking my backup location and drive in LR window match up.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI store my images on an external hard drive. I recently upgraded from LR 3.6 on a windows XP machine to LR 5 on an iMac. I moved my catalogue fine, I think, as I can see all my images in LR 5 on the iMac. The problem is that I suspect there is some problem between the iMac and the external hard drive. I cannot import my RAW photos from my CF card into LR and onto the external hard drive. LR tells me "could not copy files to the requested location."
Is there some problem because I changed from windows to Mac? Problem bc I upgraded from LR 3.6 to LR 5?
When I update my photos in LR 5 from the disk it drops my color label.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm refining some SVG files, imported into GIMP as paths. I added numerous guides on the images and drag anchors to the guides. All the paths consist of straight lines only. The problem is that on some anchors GIMP performs the "drag curve" operation instead of the "drag anchor". As a result, my straight lines become broken (curved).
The only solution I've found so far is to apply maximum zoom level, say 400%, and repeat the dragging in this resolution. This makes GIMP work properly, at least, I'm able to "drag anchor" as expected. But switching back and forth to the 400% zoom level is a bit annoying and inconvenient.
Is there a better way to "say" GIMP that "dragging anchor" is the "dragging anchor", not "dragging curve"?

In Aperture, if I have a stack of photos in a project and drag it to an album (similar to a Lightroom collection), the entire stack goes into the album. But in Lightroom, if I drag a stack to a collection, only the top photo goes into the collection. If I expand the stack, select all the photos, and drag them to the collection, then of course they are all in the collection but they become unstacked.
Is there a way to drag a stack to a collection in Lightroom, have the entire stack go into the collection, and have the photos remain stacked? I have tried modifier keys such as Option and Command while dragging the stack but that seems to ahve no effect.
I'm trying to print using a Custom Package template -- however, I'm unable to drag photos from the Filmstrip to the Grid. What could I be doing wrong? Using LR 4.2 on a Mac.

I just want to drag and drop without lightroom assuming that I want the folder to be opened. Nothing should expand unless i tell it to. Its not hard to hit the little expand arrow. Right?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm in the process of moving 100+ dwg files physically, but cannot figure out how to update the drawing locations w/o recreating a Pre-Existing fully populated (names, drawing numbers, etc.) SheetSet. Here's what I want to do:
Move dwg files from one location to another & update the new physical location (Expected/Found/Relative/Full/UNC Path) in a copy of an existing dst.
I've tried moving the files, then updating the Expected Path from within the SSM, but this works on a file to file basis, and takes a long time to perform on a 100+ drawing SheetSet. I've tried using SSMPropEditor, but for some reason, the changes do not stick. The only way that I've found to accomplish this is to use the Archive function (as a folder instead of a ZIP file) from within SSM, but there has to be an easier way to do this...
BTW: I'm using ACAD 2010 on a Core i5 XP machine.
I am working from a server, say there is folder A, B, C and D.
I open up a file from folder A, amend it etc and go to save over that (cmd-shift-s - i use this as it previews correctly rather than hitting cmd-s where it will preview only a bit of the artboard) and the save dialog box will either show folder B, C or D or will just Downloads or Documents for example - basically it will want to save anywhere other than I opened it from!
This is difficult because if I am working on 4 or 5 files making small amends and just quickly wanting to save over them and get onto the next one I have to then navigate to where the file is, even though I opened the document from there.
I have experienced this problem ever since upgrading to Mavericks!
Also, the Save box is tiny! I always have to expand it to see the folder contents etc
It doesn't work either way if I use Save (cmd-s) or Save As (cmd-shift-s). My colleague is also experiencing the same problem since upgrading to Mavericks.
Photoshop does a lot " *. TMP" files when the program is started up. These temp files, I would have moved to another location.How can I do it?
I am aware that it is possible to define which file "Photoshop Temp11309645056" to be created and how I place it at his own request, but it is not these files I ask for positioning.
Where the Hatch files are located. A user in my group is having trouble with his HATCH command. It doesn't seem to be working and it keeps telling him that the format files do not support his hatch or something like that.
