I developed problems importing images onto LR - everything was working just fine then.Get a message:"Some operations were not performed.Could not copy a file to requested location"
It itemised every image I am trying to import..I thought I would upgrade to LR 4 and the problem would go away - it didn't!!
Lightroom 5.3 stopped Importing photos and videos. Error message appears "Could not copy a file to the requested location."
I uninstalled and reinstalled LR 5.3. Problem still occurs. There must be residual problems not cleared out by the uninstall.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI store my images on an external hard drive. I recently upgraded from LR 3.6 on a windows XP machine to LR 5 on an iMac. I moved my catalogue fine, I think, as I can see all my images in LR 5 on the iMac. The problem is that I suspect there is some problem between the iMac and the external hard drive. I cannot import my RAW photos from my CF card into LR and onto the external hard drive. LR tells me "could not copy files to the requested location."
Is there some problem because I changed from windows to Mac? Problem bc I upgraded from LR 3.6 to LR 5?
I've been geo tagging my RAW images before import. I copy them from the memory card to a temporary folder, geotag, then import, asking that images be moved to the "negatives" folder (organized by quarter). Things usually work, but several times recently I've been getting the subject message (with "xx" indicating a number of files). These images enumerated and named in the message are in fact moved, but are not imported.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm experiencing a bit of an organization problem with Lightroom 3 which is probably rather easy to fix, but I just can't seen ti figure out how. When I import photos in Lightroom it automatically creates folders (2011-12-14 for example) and I would like to change the location on my computer for these folders, but I can't find where to do it. It now creates these folders in my regular Pictures folder which gets really messy due to this. How can I change this? And how do I relocate all the excisting folders on my laptop, without having to find all the missing photos afterwards.

I am importing photos from an Aperture export (NEF file with XML side car). The folder contained 400 photos. 200 imported correctly and 200 were blank! I deleted the blank photos with a view to reimporting them. I also deleted the folder in LR and on my Drobo to ensure the photos would not be considered duplicates. I then reimported the photos the same way I have done the others only to end up with blanks once again but this time with question marks in the top right corner.
I have a Civil3D file with Drawing Settings = WGS84 UTM-Zone44 North Map3D coordinate system = WGS84 UTM-Zone44 North a USGS DEM from HYDROsheds data set (tile = N40E80) also note this DEM is a folder of multiple ADF files when using FDO provider the DEM comes in just fine but it lands in the wrong location thousands of kilometers away.
When I load the same shape files into ArcMAP10 with spatial reference as WGS84 UTM-Zone44 North everything lines up perfectly.
The header prj.adf file is this:

PARAMETERS
so how do I make it come into Map3D correctly?
`I have recently upgraded from Lightroom 3 to 5. One of the triggers for doing this was getting a Canon G15; and the fact that my previous workflow didn't work for the CR2 files that it produced. (Previous work flow [Mac Mini ... a bit creaky now, running OS 10.7.5]: Use Nikon's importing tools to import photos to folders & create back up at same time [external drive] Use Preview to select & just do basic editing if needed [e.g. cropping]), import (add, rather than move/copy) to Lightroom - though often I'd wait for a bit & do quite a few groups at at time, especially if Preview was ample for what I wanted to do at the time. While the Nikon import tool was fairly agnostic about JPEGs, it naturally didn't recognise the CR2 files
The Canon software wouldn't create the backup files that I liked. I've also experimented with Image capture, but again, no luck with creating the backup
So, on the upgrade to lightroom 5, I have started to look at using Lightroom (though it takes forever to load compared to Nikon / Canon offerings). I have now discovered, however, that the backup that Lightroom does creates folders named "Imported on 28 July 2013" - rather than the 2013-07-28 folder structure that I use elsewhere. I can't find a setting to let me create the backup folders based on the same structure as the main import.
(The only option I can think of at present is to use Carbon Copy Cloner & run it daily on the regular destination, unless others have other ideas ...)
[Time Machine runs, but I also want to have the photos in a way I can easily access them from Windows etc., as well as Mac. And I'm a bit of a back up freak. I like plenty of the things. Just In Case]
I have a brand new ASUS notebook Win 8 64 bit.
LR4.3 installed to the C: drive (default installation). I am now copying from my external drive all photos to the larger D: data drive.
Of course, I have the very latest catalog backed up to multiple places. The old laptop (Windows 7) was just a single C: drive instead of the two drives I now have.
2 Q: 1) To what location do I copy that backup LR4 catalog?
2) As I remember from some years ago, I also need to double-click on that LR4 catalog once it's in the proper place. Is that right?
I imported them without moving them. So they're in the catalog.How do I transfer them to the drive which contains the entire catalog. (I should have hit "move" right?)

was trying to move a photo to another location and I clicked on something and it asked if I wanted to create a new catalog. I said yes. Now none of my photos are appearing in my lightroom.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently had to format the ext drive that my photos were on. after doing that i put all those photos back. i opened Finder, clicked ext drive titled Photos and placed the parent folder, My Pictures there.
When I now look at the folders panel the parent folder is Photos and then My Pictures. in older catalogs the parent folder was always My Pictures. there are no ?s anywhere. wondering whether i put the photos back in the right way or right place.
Even though i select a specific folder when i now import photos they go to a completely different and new folder and seemingly to a new drive titled Photos. that is also the name of the drive that all the photos are on. when i click "show in finder" all images show the original drive titled Photos. so when you look at the folder panel it looks like there are actually two drives titled Photos and the imported photos are now going to the second Photos drive. in reality there is only one drive titled Photos.
i can't get imported photos to go to the correct drive.
I use LR 5 and I cannot seeme to get my location data imported when I import my photos. The data is there because it show up in PS Bridge but it is not in the metadata record in Lightroom and the map module cannot find it. I looked through all of the setting and I found nothing that would preclude location from being loaded.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhy does LR4 not import ALL my photos from the selected folder on my portable hard drive? "Include Subfolders" is checked and "suspected duplicates" are allowed. The difference is about 10,000 photos per the info from Windows Exployer (approx. 175,000 vs 185,000 files). I can view the missing photos in exployer and not in LR4. I have tried deleting the catalog and starting from scratch. I have tried importing from subfolders. Sometimes I get different results, but not much different.

I installed it on my PC, on which also have LR3, made the adjustments I wanted in "focus Magic", then copied them to a disc. When I go to copy them into LR on my Mac, it won't allow it, as the photos "already exist" on the system. I have also tried this on different occasions for different reasons with the same result.

I received the following error message: "Some import operations were not performed. The following files were not imported because they could not be read (128)." I had previously tried importing the photos prior to the Lightroom 4.4 update. I also did the update to 4.4, restarted the computer and attempted the import again (received same error message). The error message didn't indicate what was causing the problem so I attempted to import the photos to iPhoto and received the message "The following files were not imported as the file type .CR2 cannot be read." All of my software is up to date, computer has been restarted numerous times and I always shoot in RAW. If 465 of the 593 photos were able to be imported to both photo programs, from the same CF memory card, and the file type/format did not change between photo shoots, why would 128 be unreadable?
